Newest addition to the Texaco station.... My favorite items are original product racks and after two years of searching finally found this one! Not too many of these come up for sale so I was stoked to find it and purchase it.

Good and Bad news... My Texaco station is closing up! After 20 years in our house we decided to sell it. Luckily my Daughter and her Husband are buying it and the barn will go back to just being a storage barn. The good news is the new house we are buying has a great barn that I can convert plus it is on some land so I will be building a new garage! My Texaco station will live again but in a bigger and better place!!

I have a question for all the members here.... We recently sold our house of 20 years and took down my Texaco collection to move to my new house. I have a bigger better garage/barn to move my collection to and less rules to follow for adding more signs. I also have a bigger better attached garage with garage doors on both sides to drive thru. On top of that I am building an outside bar/barn. It is 10 X 16 and will be my own functioning bar. I have been wanting to buy an old barber chair for some time, so I am calling it the Barbershop Bar and Grill and will be decorating it as the name implies. So anyway my question.... should I start a new thread for the new house or start a new thread for the three different structures, or continue posting all updates to this thread? Thoughts?

My vote is to use this thread (only 6 pages right now) for your building structure projects. One it allows new visitors to see before and now, keeps related projects together (and I don't have to subscribe to 2-4 threads. Lol) You can always put an index on post one to jump to new house/garage.
If you will have a lot of posts with a lot of detail then multiple threads could be better for flow.

Spy Photo of the new backyard (now side yard) Texaco. It's a long way away from where it will be, but couldn't resist getting the pumps set in place...

Was able to get some of the Texaco collection back on display finally... We moved 1 year ago and with all that we have done on the property its taken much longer than anticipated. This is about 1/3 of the collection so still a ton to get done!!

My attached garage is a nice size and I love that I can drive through it with doors on both sides but it takes away serious wall space for my signs and Texaco collection... so I spent this past weekend building "drop boxes" I have hung from the ceiling next to the garage door rails and over my walk in service door. I think they came out pretty good...

Nice collection. It pains me to know I have thrown away hundreds, possibly thousands of Texaco product empties the 5 years we had our Texaco station. Oh smell.:wtf:

You have a very nice collection of Texaco products and displays
I've never seen a Texaco wiper blade box.
Very nicely done. Waiting to see the rest of your collection.
I like the special shelf built for the fire trucks too

Thanks Don!! It's a huge compliment coming from you with your amazing collection!! I actually have three Texaco wiper boxes. The one in the picture and then the other two are the short deeper boxes you can see in early pics of the thread. Every week I get closer but still have a trailer full of Texaco stuff and running out of room to display it all...

Travelled to northwestern Illinois to meet fellow garage journal member Laine (Homebody) and purchase a Texaco sign from him. First let me say, what a cool guy!!! I told him my wife and I like to antique while traveling he sent me a complete itinerary of places to hit in order of the drive we were taking. He held the sign for me for a week and a half so that the schedule worked well and then gave us a tour of his awesome garage and barn.

I love being a member on here not only to get ideas and share my stuff but because you get the chance to meet some really cool people! Thanks Laine for the sign, the tour and the directions!!

No Problem, I'm glad the sign went to a diehard collector like yourself!

The fact you and the wifey got to make a weekend trip out of it is all the better.

It was a pleasure meeting you both and and hope we can do the same next time we go to Indy. Gotta see that Vega..

I am surprised the building department let you build that in a subdivision and that the neighbors were okay with it. Did you have issues/have to jump through hoops?

That was our former house of 20 years, we now live outside of city limits on a nice plot right off of a highway. At the old place I received a permit to build the barn and we lived on a cul de sac and had very supportive friends and neighbors. With the privacy fence you could not really see the signs unless you were in our backyard, so it really was never an issue. We regularly hosted parties for our neighbors and they always enjoyed seeing new items added to the collection (and several helped me carry the big and heavy stuff back there). It was a great place to live! Our daughter and her husband ended up buying the house from us.
