anybody got pics of Dowidat No.3 deep offset wrenches ? :)

I have a couple of sets of no.3's, AF and WW. Will take some photos tomorrow. Also have Dowidat socket sets in 1/4 BA and 1/2 dual AF & WW, tool boxes, combination spanners, etc, etc. Great tools!

3/8".
I use the Dowidat 3/8" ratchet, extensions, etc as a daily beaters with my Koken metric sockets (haven't been able to find suitable metric Dowidat)
These came with a small combined AF WW set.

you´re welcome :D

Ms. Angela will be quite upset if you do promote obsolescent brands! not that good for keeping all those exploitative, repetitive low pay jobs in the Vaterland. you want to move Stahlwille's factories to China? :spit:

Hi Monte
Yes beautiful functional design. I'd be interested in trading the Whitworth set for Dowidat metric ring or combination wrenches if anyone is interested.

Dowidat were popular in NZ with the aircraft guys and the like in the 50's and 60's, not sure you'd call them common though. They certainly weren't priced for the home handyman.
The catalogue is from 76. Happy to scan what ever you like, send me a pm.

Is it just me or do Dowidat, Elora and Hazet all look VERY similar?

I've got Elora combo wrenches that proudly sit next to my SO and SK wrenches. My Elora wrenches have never let me down. Not affiliated, but when I need an Elora fix, I get mine from www.bloomertool.com Glen Bloomer is a stand up guy and used to be a SO rep I believe.

Wow,
Those Dowidat no.3s are beauties! But before you get all excited, do a search for them on ebay.de. Not a one!!! Lots of no.2s, but not one single no.3.
They're quite the rare bird!
No wonder I've never seen a Dowidat no.3 before!

Great reason to trade metric wrenches for my no.3's. I no longer have use for the Whitworth set, they're just taking up space.
I have some obscure open end Dowidat wrenches, have never seen another set like them. Again I have two sets, AF and WW. They are in storage as they haven't been used in nearly 30 years. I'll dig them out in the next couple of days and post some photos.

Here's a set of 8M's in BA sizing. They're a bit grubby but otherwise still in perfect condition.

I remember when Snap On bought out there "Flank drive" spanners, the rep was boasting that all non SO spanners would strip the 12mm plastic hex before the SO flank drive spanner would..........Weeeeell I put my Dowidat 12 mm and it was the SO flank drive spanner that rounded off the hex.........my end wasn't even bruised:D:D

Made me stock up on Dowidat spanners.

The nicely Dowidat tools were produced by Belzer tools in Wuppertal.
Belzer bought the company and beacame Belzer-Dowidat.
The Belzer and Dowidat tools were produced on the same line, i have some pliers which look the same but have these seperate names on them.
I could post some pics of my dowidat tools.

Does anyone have any Dowidat pipe wrenches? I just brought a 36" one and would like to see how they looked and make up some kind of rest on it

I saw one at work last week. If no one beats me to it, I'll post a picture up on Tuesday of them.

Dowidat pump pliers. I plasti dipped the handles, they didn't really come out as I envisioned and definitely look better with just chrome, but they are nice and grippy now:

I found a huge stash of unused Dowidat tools last Winter. Have some "patina" from moisture but most are in very good condition. The guy has quite a few more of them. He said he bought a bulk "lot" of them years ago and stored them away....unfortunately in a leaky barn.
Nice "shorty" wrenches. Not sure of their vintage but I'm thinking 60's - 70's(?)
I bought 50 or so wrenches. Below are a few of them.
These are in "SAE"....most all I've seen were metric.

This ought to send shivers down Monte's spine,

Dowidat ... Not made in Germany .. :D

Currently on aussie ebay for a ludicrous amount ..

$_57.JPG

Quality looks a bit better than the, Gedore from India multigrips I have tho .. :D

Was a few Dowidat items, shifters, multigrips, sockets ... produced down here, by a bloke called Coffey, back in the day.

Internet info is a bit sketchy ... but it seems he was Dowidat distributor ... and making some licensed products.

... at least he made/sold spanners ... and not wrenches .. ;);) .. :D

stan-coffey-cooper.jpg

... and it appears someone has recently borrowed the Dowidat name,

... or snapon/bahco/whoever, is whoring out the brand ..

dgr12m.jpg

... coming out of the Kabo, Taiwan factory apparently.
