Thanks guy's.

I built some tire cradles today.
I have seen many people use 12" x 12" and 12" x 14", I decided to go with 12" x 16" so it would cradle the tire a bit more. Plus I used 1/2" dowels for the the top 2 sections so I can make the height adjustable without having to screw and unscrew.
I thought it would only take me a couple of hours. WRONG, my ocd kicked in and I found myself spending over and hour just sanding each piece. Then I came up with the dowel idea and that added even more time. So much for a quick project. At least I'm happy with the outcome.

Just got finished looking through the entire thread. Great work man!
I plan on picking up one or two of those Harbor Freight tool cabinets and maybe some of those light fixtures for my build.

All the hard work is already paying off.

This may be a stupid question but what is the purpose of the cradles? I can see them being a great alternative to jack stands assuming you are not working on suspension. I have seen similar setups used to elevate the rear of a 4th gen camaro when dropping the kmember. But when I did a google search all I got was products to prevent flat spots on cars stored for extended periods.

By the way, I love the garage it has reignighted my desire to get my attached into shape.

Thanks, I'm REALLY happy with the way it's turned out.

I plan on doing the exhaust and maybe pulling out the trans. It gets everything up much higher than I could with regular jacks stands.
Plus when I start doing the body, it's easier on the back. Not so much bending over.

That is what I figured. It makes a lot of since to a fat boy like me. Man I love that car. I creeped on your car build thread as well. You may inspire me to find another late 2nd gen.

The before/after shots are incredible in comparison! Really great touches, from replacing the USGeneral sticker to the stripes to the clock to the flashlight! (Next up: a fire extinguisher!)

You've put a ton of work in and it's quite obvious! Congrats.

Looking to hang some garage art on the walls. I have a very long Hotchkis Suspension banner, and a few others. But, I think I want to take it up a notch.
Found some very cool pictures of another split bumper camaro made by the Spectre Performance Company. They make all kinds of performance intake parts. I have some of their parts and love their Camaro. Anyways, looking to see if I can get these pictures in poster size.

Thanks Speedfreak,
This is my 3rd 70, I can't get enough of the early 2nd gen's.
As long as you don't buy an SS or Z28(which I wouldn't completely change like this one)the early RS's are pretty reasonable still. Get out there and get another one.:3gears:

Was out in the garage tonight working on the Camaro. It was cold outside but not inside, there was plenty of light and the best part. A well stocked refrig.
I love my new garage.

Still have plenty of things to do, but is it ever really finished?

Very nice to enjoy the fruits of your labour. There is something special about working in a comfortable well lit garage and being able to grab one of your favorite cold beverages without even leaving your space. :beer:

I've got two of these bolted together,they make a nice bench with plenty of space for storage.
thanks! i have promised myself not to buy anything til we get in there and have lived with the space for a bit. i did buy an older craftsman bench like yours a year a go -5 drawers on one side and a cabinet on the other side, but it was cheap on craigslist and other than a cheapy tool chest my dad got me when i moved out on my own i really dont have much in terms of tool storage.

my plan is to team this up with some over head cabinets, a tall floor cabinet and a HF 44" box. of course.. i am waiting to buy anything else and that includes lights. but at least i can begin my homework :D

AMEN BROTHER!!!!!!!

Very awesome transformation. I love how your fixing up a old Camaro and driving a 5.0L Mustang. :lol_hitti

Thanks, the Mustang is actually my next project. It's my wife's first car and she wants me to do the same thing I did with the camaro. Update it to 2013 technology. I think she then wants to race me.

Not sure of the exact plans for the Mustang yet. We will start by completely tearing the car apart. It will be a pro-touring kind of build. All new upgraded suspension, chassis stiffening, 13" brakes, steering, electronics, 18" tires & wheels. I'm doing my homework first because I've built mostly Chevys in the past. This will be my first Ford. Should be a whole new learning experience. And I'm always up for that. Here's a picture of what we are starting with. My wife is the original owner. Looking for a good Fox body forum to start a build thread. Might just stay with Pro-touring.com where I have the Camaro

Wow, for the years on the car it's in pretty good shape (And those seats look good too!). Enjoy the new project, and your garage space while you're working on the project. :thumbup:

A thought for you, you might want to remount your flashlight with the lens pointed down if it is a maglight.

On the larger maglights where the tailcap is the only way to access the battery bay, should the batteries leak you won't be able to get the tailcap off to change them out. IF you use a 'recommended' brand of battery you can ship it back to maglight and they will fix it for free, if not it's almost cheaper to buy a new flashlight..

They sell little clips that allow you to mount those flashlight almost anywhere, I've got them mounted under all the beds in the house as well as under a countertop and under the couch.

You've done an amazing job with your garage, I look forward to 'borrowing' some of your ideas :).

Awesome transformation! I'm lovin' the color combo, separate workspaces, lighting and the floor. Should be a great place to work on those bad a$$ machines!

You're right except for some wear on the drivers seat, the interior is in great shape. I don't think anyone has ever even sat in the back seat.

Thanks, it came out even better than I expected and I expected a lot.

I love this transformation! You did a great job.

I made some similar "tire cradles" also. Did I see you post these on Yellowbullet? I went a bit overboard on them but my mustang fits perfectly on them.

Also, how wide are the stripes that you painted on the wall? I really like the way they are laid out.

Thanks Jason,
No I didn't put them on Yellowbullet.
The stripes are as follows.
Black = 1-1/8"
White = 3/4"
Red = 2- 5/8"

Thanks Jason,
The car is extremely stable. I shook, pushed, and pulled it just to make sure. I'm doing the exhaust now so I wanted to be sure it was stable.

Thanks e-tek, I saw those fixtures when I did a search for shop fixtures on the internet and they were in my price range. About $50 each. They give off awesmome amounts of light and the bulbs are protected from me swinging anything and breaking them. As my wife said "They are you proof".
