My New Porsche Garage Condo

Not much mechanical work happening at my new garage. More of a man cave setup at a car condo development near me. The space is 21' wide by 41' deep.

This is awesome!

How did you find out about this? I'd love to investigate in my area.

I heard about this one by word of mouth through the local chapter of the Porsche Club. Maybe check with any of your area car clubs. Good luck!

Awesome finished space and that early Porsche is a beaut! What are the details on that?

beautiful place! We had a similar concept in Chandler, AZ called Garage Town. Not sure if it took off as they started building it during the down turn of the economy. I was intrigued by the idea. I think it was 140k for a 1500 sq ft space and prices went up depending on space size and options. My wife and I sold our house in an HOA subdivision we loved and instead bought an older fixer upper on a little over an acre. My idea is that I'd rather have my shop within walking distance otherwise my wife would never see me come home!!

Very nice. Any pictures of the complex?

Here is a picture of the entrance i took this today as I was leaving. I spent about six hours today doing about one hour of work.:) There are individual codes to enter the gate and multiple security cameras. I'll try to find some other photos of the facility.

Our HOA has rules against sheds. If not for that I would have possibly moved the bicycles, lawn mower, snow blower, etc, etc, etc to a shed and done my home garage up right. But it has been very nice meeting other people with similar interests at The Autolodge. There have been a few events held so far and no doubt many more to follow.

Thanks very much! The earlier Porsche is a 1960 356B. The gentleman I bought it from restored it over several years. He was nearly 80 years old when he finished it. I guess you could call it an "Outlaw" as it is not too original. The drum brakes were replaced with disc brakes. The engine is not original to the car however it is the correct model and year for the car. A color change was also done as it was originally red with black interior. I love the looks of it and spend much more time staring at it than working on it.

Love it. Thanks for sharing, I'm not going to do much mechanical in my garage condo being built neither. Nice to see someone else like minded.

I like the gray on the walls, if it wasn't because I had a lot of paint left over from my previous garage I would have used a similar color! Good job!

Wow, I'm surprised the The Autolodge is in Ft. Wayne... I would have guessed it was outside Indy. Very cool. Nothing cool like that near Evansville... But I would have to have my garage within walking distance too or I would end up sleeping there.

What are the details on your Honda Cafe Racer?

Thanks for asking. The bike was made by Jay LaRossa of Long Beach California (Lossa Engineering). It is based on a 1966 CB160. He made one and named it Poco ********. It was bought by the actor Jason Lee (My Name Is Earl) SEE BELOW PHOTO. It was well received so he built a limited edition of six of them. Mine is one of them.

I see you are probably a Boilermaker. My boy heads back to Purdue this fall for his Senior year.

Thanks for the info and better picture. I'm very familiar with Jay LaRossa and Lossa Engineering. He has built some amazing bikes and very cool that you got one of the Pocos! Did you see that Jay's cancer is back? Totally *****, but he's focused on fighting it again.

Jay was also on the TV show Wrench Against the Machine.

Yep, I'm a Boilermaker and my wife is too. I graduated with and Industrial Technology/Industrial Distribution degree. I couldn't handle engineering at Purdue, I needed a more hands-on major.

We were just there Friday for my daughter's STAR day. She'll be a freshman in August in engineering, and she's planning to study Environmental Engineering. My son is 11 and he's already planning to go to Purdue too for Aeronautical Engineering. We'll see if he changes his mind in the next 7 years though...

I did not know Jay's cancer had returned. I made three trips to his shop while he was building my bike. It took over four years to finish. He had a number of challenges keeping the business open.

My son is in the Professional Pilot Program at Purdue. He has his multi-engine rating, his commercial license and began jet training in the Spring. Once he graduates he'll need more flight hours before he can get a job with an airline. We shall see.

Doesnt look like there is a crapper or running water. Are we missing a few photos that would show full setup?

This is just across the way. Just no shower so I can't live there. :)
