Well.... after many months and lots of ideas from this site ..

My space is a single car garage that's built under a 1946 heritage style home, that I've put off finishing for a long time. Although it will only accomodate 1 car , it totals about 400 square feet, so it provides some space to work and lots of storage.
The floor is 3 coats of Rustoleum Professional epoxy, that I applied after I had the floor scarified to create a profile for the epoxy to grip . It's been down about 3 months now and it's absolutely rock hard.
The counter tops are 16 gauge 304 Stainless , that are easy to clean and they continue to look good , even after they get worn in a bit .
I installed 4 ceiling mount speakers for the stereo/ TV,as I didn't want to see anything hanging down from the walls or ceiling. It's connected to my satellite system.

The cabinet that the television sits on houses my small compressor, wall mounted Shop Vac and my mountain bikes.

The back splash for the counter and ther kick plates are all 1/8" polished diamond plate aluminium.
I also built in a small Stainless Steel bar fridge for beverages.

Very nice and clean, the SS tops looks great. I like the diamond plate back splash and floor kick too.

Did you make the counter top yourself?

Great space! The combo of the white cabinets and stainless tops with eh diamond plate definitely give a "clean" look in both senses of the word. Are those just standard kitchen-type cabinets painted? Also, where did you get that copper extinguisher? I've been looking for a nice one like that.

This is a great example of a well-designed garage, and shows that you don't have to have mega space to look good and be useful.

The cabinets and tops work really well together, and the storage for the compressor and bikes is very clean as well.

I like the halogen downlights over the work surface- you can never have too much light, and they would naturally be in the shadow of the other ceiling lights.

Integrating the small fridge is just the sort of detail I like as well.

Great job!

Looks great for such a small space. I never would have thought you could fit so much into a slightly oversized one car garage. Great job.

Gotta love a Reef Blue LX! That's my new favorite garage here. Do you ever make it to any shows in the Lower Mainland, on the Island or down in Washington?

Thanks for all the kind words guys ! I used this site to get a lot of inspiration for my garage .

To answer a few questions ...

The cabinets are from Kitchen Craft, they're well constructed and they have an easy to clean melamine finish. They're also reasonably priced .

The counter tops I installed are sheets of stainless, cut and fitted carefully utilizing a piece of polished aluminum for the edge. This makes for a dent resistant edge and was substantially cheaper than getting a 1 piece unit welded, and the front edge formed.
The copper fire extinguisher was something that I found in an old house about to be torn down.It took me about an hour with a buffing wheel and some polishing compound on a felt pad my grinder to make it shine .
In the past, I have participated in several Mustang shows at Spanish Banks and I have done the one in Whidby Island in Washington state. They were great events.

That looks great, congrats to you!

Yes, I did in fact do all the work myself including the floor .

The only help I had was putting up the drywall.
It did take me considerably longer than I had anticipated , but that's probably due to the fact that the project got more involved as it went along ...

Can you take a close-up of the countertop/aluminum edging?

It looks & sounds like you just used aluminum angle iron on the edge? Excellent idea.

The flooring is Rustoleum Professional Epoxy Shield.Three coats . I ground the floor first , then acid -etched .

Here's a close up of the counter . I did use a piece of aluminium for the edge , then butted the stainless sheets up it . It was a simple way to do it and it was cheaper .

The fridge is full of ..uh ...ice tea ...

The garage is about 400 square feet, but since it's in the shape of an "L", it only has enough space for one car but lots of room to work.

The bike storage cabinet was built using white melamine that matched the finish on the other cabinets. It was a bit of work to ensure that everything would fit in the lmited space.

Did you use the chips on your epoxy flloor?

If so,how did you spread them ?

I thought I saw one of those home renovation shows where they used a lawn seed spreader.

No , all I did when I spread the vinyl flakes , was to throw them up in the air and allow them to fall somewhat evenly.

Do the chips sit flat on the floor , or do they give the surface some texture?

I used two coats of the same material in a different color for my floor. The chips pretty much lay flat on the floor. They give a little bit of texture but not much slip resistance. I added the anti-slip granuales to the clear coat which helps but it's still like a skating rink when it gets wet.

I like the garage. It's clean, simple, and functional (except for that step - seems like it would get in the way a lot).

I found the flakes give the floor some texture . It's probably not as good as using the anti-skid material , but there's enough roughness on the floor to give some traction.

As far as the small wall in the garage , it's due to the extremely hard clay that exists in this area. The builder, back in 1946, used a shovel for excavation , so this was the easiest method to get the garage at grade .

I'm thinking of applying epoxy as well.
How did you determine the amount of flakes you wanted?

It's to say the least, an imprecise science. What I did after the second coat of epoxy had cured, I experimented on the dry floor with different coverage densities.
When I determined the effect I was looking for , I applied the third coat, then applied the chips by casting them up in the air . This technique provided the most uniform pattern in my opinion.

It's pretty much a trial and error program . Hope this helps.
