Type of Service: Priority Mail® 2-Day
Flat Rate Envelope

f-in a, saw that now too.... better be some nice stuff to come in an envelope, it specifically says mystery BOX, not mystery bubble package with possible tears and missing tools surprise.

If this turns out to be some garbage, I think that the January "Mystery Toolbox" will be the last one they do. I hope if it is that they went out and bought up a ton of supply expecting re-orders and they get stuck with it.

That said, you can fit a lot of stuff in those envelopes, and they probably are the cheapest way to ship small hand tools. I don't think any of us expected major power tools...

FWIW - I still haven't gotten a shipping notice yet.

Still doesn't show ship on my tracking... shows "pre-ship" meaning they haven't dropped it at the post office yet.

Anyone actually have tracking on theirs yet?

I hope you guys get some good stuff, but I have a feeling it will be some very random stuff that was either closeout or overstock from one of the main home improvement stores within the last year. If they paid more than a total of $10 for all of the "mystery tools" in each package they are already almost losing money. You never know though, maybe one of the guys has a cousin that works for Knipex in Germany and he gets factory seconds shipped to the US for pennies on the dollar so you are all going to get a flat rate envelope packed full of Knipex with a few small knicks in the rubber handles.:p

buying in bulk is what saves money. we pay 40-50 for a pair of knipex, but the store we bought it from probably only pays 20-25 for it, and overall costs knipex probably 5 or 10 to make. when you get into the cost of going through multiple suppliers the costs get ramped up. no telling what its gonna be though, as the time goes on and as i see their business practice in the works, my expectations keep on going down and down! i love how their price doubled... hopefully we will make out like bandits because they didn't expect so many people to want in, and they realized they won't make any money at only 20 per box. :willy_nil:lol:

i understand its the cheapest one, but still doesnt change that its potentially sharp objects (screwdrivers, bits, files, etc) in a bag that is being tossed around a shipping center. i've had more than a few of those bags and small cartons open up to drop items before arrival.

same, just pre-ship. must really be a guy or two in their garage with a ton of packages going, "F**K F**K F**K.... what do we do, we only had two boxes of Harbor freight clearance items from last weeks tent sale!" .

hah

I got my tracking number on Tuesday the 6th. Didn't have any updates in the tracking until about 2 hours ago, now it says my estimated delivery date is tomorrow. Doesn't hurt that Chicago is a pretty big hub but it does seem like the packages in the hands of USPS when the tracking emails went out. I've had ebay purchases and the like where I get a shipping notification and it takes another week for the package to actually get delivered to UPS or whoever- doesn't seem to be the case here.

Still no shipment notice for me.

Me either, and I thought I was one of the earlier orderers. Maybe they're clearing out all the **** early. ;) It's gotta take longer to ship the good stuff...right?

I just got my package. Contents are:

Milwaukee Shockwave bit set
Kobalt Knife
2 x Bessey Clamps

It was all stuffed in one of the Priority Envelopes with some of those large air bubble things.

You can get a pack of two of the bit sets for $29.88 so 1 is worth about $14.94

The knife is on clearance around here for $10

The clamps are on sale for $3 a piece so $6 which means I could have bought all the stuff for about $30 or a couple bucks less with the Lowes coupons so I am OK with what I got, especially since its not 6 HF tape measures haha.

It looks like they used retail pricing to get their $40 to $200 advertised figure since all of the stuff above has been reduced and the single bit set was $20, the knife was $15 and the clamps were $5 a piece so full retail would have been $45

sounds like a member of slickdeals or someone who's a member here.

people got that bit set for 2 bucks with that HD PROAPP10 code awhile back before they shut it down. The knife and clamps where less then 2 bucks in some lowes also.

I'm guessing the contents of these will vary. Yeah, it sounds like retail store closeouts over the last month.

Oh well. At least people are getting stuff. :)

They just emailed me about the price increase looks like it was for a new box with a power tool in it.

Hello Cody,

The $39 price that showed was due to a product update for an upcoming Power Tool Mystery Toolbox. This has been cleared up and the website now shows the product as sold out until all January orders ship. We are currently shipping orders that have been placed. We started shipping orders on January 2nd but due to the large demand shipping times are slightly delayed and we expect the last batch of orders to ship out by January 12th. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us at [email protected].

Best Regards,

Mystery Toolbox Team

I'm confused...why would they mark it as sold out?

I just went to their site, and I guess making it "sold out," means posting the price as $9,999.99. These guys aren't very good at the web page thing...:eyecrazy:

Who says it will always show up in a flat rate envelope?

Just because one person did does't mean everyone will. They specifically said the value will vary between $40 and $200. It's entirely possible Mickey just did better.

Not sure anyone gets "the shaft" (reminds me of the NewsRadio episode) as it was pretty clear the values and stuff will vary.

I'm not overly impressed with mine. It's okay, but not great. 6 wrenches in the bigger package: 3 ratcheting, 3 standard (10mm, 12mm, & 13mm). Who needs two of each size of wrench?!

There's also an Armstrong 7/32" wrench in the smaller bag.

Anyone want to trade?!?
