After a series of failed attempts to find a suitable replacement for a ~10yr old Lincoln, and a crappy new Lincoln sold & shipped by Amazon that was junk from the git-go & I'm 99% sure was a chinese knockoff I just went ahead and ordered the green ~$70 pistol grip from Lock-N-Lube and it's perfect so far. It's what I keep valvoline synthetic in for use on my vehicles.

I also now have a Dewalt 20V grease gun with a Lock-n-Lube fitting on it and it's better than perfect for the moly grease going in equipment. I also have Lock-n-Lube's kit of accessories/adapters for being able to reach and grease everything even in those cases where the Lock-n-Lube fitting won't fit.

Kicking myself for not having gotten both guns years ago.

Cheap generic manual pistol-grip gun with a flex whip does 90% of my greasing. I have a lever type with a rigid stalk for the rest.

Thats all i've owned for greasing in 20+ years.

I like my Proto JFC33 grease gun with a LockNLube coupler. My Lincoln's that I've used for the past 35+ years were ok but I much prefer the Proto that I've been using for the past 7 or 8 years now. My Lincoln's kept dripping and the Proto not so much.

I have had the same lever type gun here at my business for at least 35 years. Dont have a clue what brand it is. Pretty fool proof. I take it home if I need to do something there.

Lincoln 1134 with the Lock n lube coupler.

But if you got either air or are invested in cordless, id go with either. I have a Lincoln pneumatic and its excellent. Also use a Milwaulkee cordless grease gun. If I had to give all them up Id still keep the Milwaulkee lol. Once you go cordless you wont go back IMHO.

I like my Lincoln pistol grip. I only got the pistol grip, because I didn't know about Lock-N-Lube at the time.

I really want to get a M18 powered one, but don't know if my one skid steer that I put a couple hours on a month would justify the purchase price.

Lock n Lube is a nice set up if your greasing a bulldozer, but for cars and trucks I find the coupler too big for access to a lot of fittings.
I'll second the Alemite 555E for light work or the 500E for lever action for a lot of fittings.

You absolutely need one, there is no question.

I have the lock n lube and have had nothing but issues with it. The little bleeder fitting leaks, its a pain to prime (never had an issue with my old lincoln), and when Im pumping it, I have to wait a good 10 seconds between pumps or the handle just goes limp and doesn't pump. Its like the grease is too thick for it to reset for the next pump. I'm using Valvoline cobalt grease that works fine in my old lincoln. The coupler works wonderfully though.

I have had better luck with the cheap knock off grease guns than with a Lincoln. I have used a battery powered grease gun- Milwaukee. But I prefer manual grease guns with a long hose and a top of the line coupler. Just my limited experience.

I have two manual grease guns, one a Plews that I've had for 30+ years, the other a no name with a hi-low lever, I've had that for the past 5 years. Last year I picked up a dewalt 20v greaser. I like it way more than I thought I would. Makes greasing up the TLB go so much faster with less bending over/stooping to get the gun on the zercs. The no name hi-low is my least favorite.

I use the Dewalt 20v for basic Lucas Red & Tacky. The two manuals are for specialty greases (moly, etc).

I've never had the need for the Lock n Lube tip, I always though the tip was too big and it would not be able to reach some of the protected zercs. I've never had an issue with grabbing or releasing a zerc. I just rotate the barrel on the end of the gun to tighten or loosen the grip on the zerc as needed.

I've got a Lincoln, impored but still feels duty. I can't complain.
Alemite 555E.

Lock the thread.
These are a bit more but MiUSA. Probably a good choice.

I'd go for one of those for manual, read some reviews to get an idea. Ignore the ones about people who don't know how to bleed or read the directions how how to bleed them.

The finest one I've yet used is a Mato E500 which I ran across as part of a kit which came with a German CNC machine. I've been looking high and low for a source but not in USA....

After a quick search looks like both I mentioned are imported now. I'd go with the Lincoln since I've got one and I can say its quality. Not sure about the import Alemites. You can always put a locknlube tip on it if you want later, I've never seen the need yet.

I just received a Macnaught K32, I had been wanting one for a while when someone posted that they were on sale for $45. This thing is built like a tank, makes the current China made grease guns look like they are made from paper mache. They are still priced at $45, probably till the end of the month, available directly or through their Amazon store.

My favorite grease gun is a Lumax single speed- fairly quick and easy to bleed so far. I have never tried a 2 speed grease gun although I did give a brand new 2 speed to a friend of mine. Battery powered grease guns are too heavy and noisy for my taste. I like to creep up on those unsuspecting grease zerks and give them a couple shots of grease before they run away.

Dewalt here.

If your Lincoln is leaking, check to see that the steel cylinder is installed correctly. I had one that dripped for twenty years, only to find that the vent was on the wrong end. Swapped the cylinder end for end and it’s perfect now…no more leaks.

I have an assortment of grease couplers with zerks. I can use whatever fitting that works when the L&L is too big.

Thanks for the link. I've been needing another grease gun and was about to purchase another Proto but based on several comments here I opted to try one of these Macnaught guns. Just ordered one.

Thank you.

I have all Dewalt battery tools, so that helped push me towards the Dewalt grease gun. It's been awesome, along with the LockNLube. It makes greasing my tractor MUCH quicker!

Another vote for the LockNLube - if you're going to get the coupler (which is a must have in my experience), you'll get a better deal by just getting their grease gun that comes with the coupler already installed. I have one of their complete guns, and a Lincoln that I installed the LockNLube coupler on. If either one died I would immediately replace with another LockNLube gun.

That's why I also have the kit so there is no zerk I can't easily get to with my lock-n-lube including fittings no other coupler can.

I also tried a few cheap units from Amazon, one lasted 4 uses and a second one after the first use 1/3 of the grease was behind the plunger and found the circular file. Both leaked like a sieve when not in use, hated them from the first use.

I also just purchased the green pistol grip Lock-N-Lube and it has served me well so far.

Bigger pain then it's worth to crawl under a truck with all that just to grease it when all you need is a decent nozzle on the end of a grease hose.

We've got several Toyota's and Chevy's and a Ford and I've not yet seen a grease fitting the Lock-n-Lube doesn't reach on one. It fits right in every u-joint I've got, so I've not yet ran into the 'crawling under a vehicle' issue. The only grease fittings I've not been able to reach with it yet are a few of the recessed fittings on tractor implements, and for that, it's nice to have the kit.

There's never been a better "decent nozzle" than the Lock-n-Lube. Huge time savor and so much easier and it doesn't ever squeeze grease all over the place around the fitting, especially on u-joints where with a standard coupler you can't twist it to lock it on because the coupler end you twist is out of reach once you get on it. Best coupler ever.

Believe it or not there is less room under one of these then a Toyoda..............

Having a hard time imagining a grease fitting under one of those that a lock-n-Lube doesn't fit on. It even fits right in the tiny u-joints on the front shafts on our 4WDs. What under that truck would be tighter than that?

Have a few manual guns that see minimal use, haven’t really had a problem with any of them. Nothing special, just whatever regular parts stores carry. But really, battery powered is the way to go these days unless you only grease a few fittings a couple times per year. I’ve currently got 2 DeWalts in service and a third brand new one that will be loaded up with a tube of grease tomorrow. I’ve killed a Lincoln 18v and a Snap-on, but my first DeWalt that is older than both of those just keeps on going - must be around 6 years old now. Probably 100 tubes of grease or so each year, there are lots of grease points on farm equipment.

Ok maybe I am only person to do this. But sometimes I lay the grease gun down and move the machine to better access some zerks and I drive over the grease gun. This is where manual guns shine. Just grab another manual gun and get back to work.

So i got the k32 delivered today. Put a tube of green grease in and so far so good. Only thing is the tip once locked on does not let go too well. I had to completely unscrew the end so it would release the zerk!

I like the lock n lube tip but it seems huge and i already have some tight spots. Any other brand you can suggest
