Hi, I have a Waterloo PMX2604 26" 4 drawer ball bearing tool chest. One of the slides on the bottom drawer (right-hand) is broken and I'm trying to find a replacement.
Toolbox: https://www.amazon.in/dp/B000K1EVM2/

Part number marked on slide is: 27845-U-R.
I see it used to be sold on Amazon and Sears....

Does anyone have a possible source for this slide or equivalent?

thanks much

Mitch

Try calling this number for Waterloo:

WATERLOO INDUSTRIES ***-***-XXXX Edit- new number is 660-826-0960

I was able to order a slide from them over the phone a little over a year ago.

Thanks very much. I had read in a thread somewhere that they went out of business, but will call.

Ok, this is great. I tried your number and call didn't go through and used Phone: +1 660 826 0960 instead.
I was able to order the slide for $11 and its under a different part number.
Thanks so much!

I'm glad you were able to order the part you needed! It's great that it's still possible to to to order replacement parts directly and I really hope that stays that way. I hope Stanley/B&D understand how much value that adds to their product. Whatever name they say when they answer the phone, I hope they are able to keep the old Waterloo customer service intact.

Retyping the phone # that worked for to help it come up in future searches for replacement Craftsman and Waterloo tool box parts.

Is there an other resource to look up slides? Waterloo claims they didn't build my Craftsman tool chest, despite the waterloo roll mark stamped into the bottom side of the frame as is typical with Craftsman boxes. It wasn't a good sign when I sent pictures of the worn slides and the support person asked of they were Ball Bearing or Standard. 🤷‍♂️

I needed to order a slide today. The phone representative looked up the number etched in the slide and double checked the box part number. The slide seemed to be out of stock and unavailable everywhere she looked. Then I asked her to check my history since I had ordered the same part before. After seeing what I ordered last time, she then realized that there now needed to be a "W" in front of the original slide part number and they were available. Like everything these days, the cost was around 50% higher than it was 2 1/2 years ago.

Ordered some slides today myself, same deal - add 'W' to the slide number and I was good to go. Customer representative was very nice, helpful and even discounted the shipping cost. Happy Camper.

I also have some old Waterloo built Craftsman tool chests, and they have served me well for over 20 years. Here's a pic of my 40" 14-drawer and 26" 6-drawer Griplatch chests, both manufactured by Waterloo in the USA way back in 2001:

Workstation_Front.jpg

Unfortunately, the slides on one of the drawers is failing, so I've been considering replacing these old chests with something newer. I like the full-width drawers on the new chests, and the heavier duty slides. But after looking at my options for replacement, I haven't found anything with a drawer size and arrangement that I really love. The closest has been ordering some custom Rousseau cabinets. But before I did that, I found this thread and figured why not see if my slides can be replaced and just try the number posted in here for Waterloo parts: 660-826-0960

I honestly expected it to be disconnected or assigned to some other SBD department, but holy **** this number is still active for the Waterloo parts center in Sedalia, MO and they can still look up parts for old Craftsman/Waterloo chests. And yes, as of November 2024, they still have the Craftsman Griplatch ball bearing slides.

For people searching, here's the part numbers:
The left ball bearing griplatch slide is part# W27834
The right ball bearing griplatch slide is part# W27835

Here's the Sears part photos and you can see these slides have the metal receiver at the top for the griplatch drawer catch, and the correct tabs for hanging in the cabinet frames.

Griplatch Right Slide.PNG

At the time of this post, the slides are $16.70/ea. when ordering from Waterloo. After ordering over the phone I received an e-mail receipt from SBD. On that receipt is the following contact info:

Email: [email protected] for orders and [email protected] for inquiries
Phone: 800-833-8851

I'll update this post once they arrive. Hopefully, it's the same slides as pictured and I'm good to keep my griplatch chests for another 20 years.

Do these numbers match the numbers stamped on your slides? I have a bunch of Griplatch boxes, and they have different numbers than these; but mine are older than yours. If you open the drawer, you can view the PN on the slide, at least on mine, as they're stamped on the outside.

Please post the numbers on your original slides and then if these interchange when you get them.

I guess that either way I need to call Waterloo and see if I can pick up a few slides for insurance purposes. I know that I found them online ~10 years ago, as I figured I'd add a few double slides on the deep drawers, but they were $20+ each at that time. So I figured I'd just pick up a dinged up used box locally for parts- that hasn't worked. I searched for the PN online a few years ago and they were NLA.

Nope, the part numbers above are different than the numbers on my drawer slides, which are also different from each other. And I just now realized I put 2019 as the build date in my post, lol. I updated the post with the correct year, so these might also be as old as yours. Either way, my research on the original slide numbers led me to the part numbers I posted above as being the most recent versions. I'll update if I'm right or wrong when the slides arrive and post pics/numbers comparing them.

Yes, the R and L PNs vary by the last digit- odd and even

What are the numbers on your current slides? I'll look mine up, but IIRC they end with 7 and 8 .

I think my boxes are ~ 2010. I believe they were built in Mexico because there was no COO anywhere to be found. And if it's USA, you plaster that everywhere.

Thanks for the reply.

My replacement Griplatch drawer slides were dropped off by UPS this afternoon. Here's a pic of the part numbers stamped on the slides and you can see they are made by Repon Slides. They are rated for 70 lbs /pair, which is an improvement over the original 50lb slides on my older boxes. My original slides are stamped:

M15862- DR
M15861 -DL

I suspect that newer built boxes, which were advertised as having 70lb drawer capacity, used these slides.

PXL_20241126_234816749.jpg

Compared to my original slides, the new ones have a little bumper at the back end, slightly different bearing cage, and different release lever. The new one is on the top in this pic, original slide on the bottom:
PXL_20241126_235944146.jpg

The slides are replaced by prying a small tab in the cabinet member that you can access through a hole in the slide member. I used a small pocket prybar and it worked perfect. With that tab pried away from the cabinet frame, lift the slide a 1/4" and then push backwards. There's no rivets to drill out or screws to undo. The slide simply lifts up and back to demount.

Griplatch Slide Removal.png

The new slide pops in the reverse way, line it up with the mounting tabs in the cabinet and then pull it forward and push down. The tab will click when it's in place. It's very simple. The drawer members will need to be replaced if they're the old style like mine, the release tabs are not compatible. It easy to pop them off the drawer and swap them. Here's the new slides on the top drawer and original slides on the open drawer beneath it.
PXL_20241127_001350300.jpg

I can easily tell the difference between them. That top drawer is a hair over 50 lbs loaded with all my impact sockets, so it was at the limit of the original slides, and considering the age of the original slides, I'm not surprised the new ones feel so much better. I regularly keep my slides lubricated and they all still work, but that drawer was dragging and not rolling very smooth any more after 20 years of service. It's awesome to be able to breath new life into it with new slides.

I intend to replace the slides on two other drawers loaded down at capacity, and then keep two pair of the original slides as backups, and grind off the griplatch tabs from the top of the third pair add it as a double slide to the bottom drawer.

I want to scream THANK YOU for this information! I've been searching for WEEKS trying to locate the replacement slides for my toolbox. Sears Parts Direct basically told me too bad so sad and good luck! I tried Grainger, but they were the wrong size. I was able to use the details in your post and I ordered my slides this morning! THANK YOU!

I'm so glad I found this thread, as I was in the same boat trying to find slides for my box. (which looks identical to yours, except beat up from a few years in a welding shop). I called the number you posted & all she needed was the model number of my box. The part numbers you gave have been superseded by W27828 (right) and W27827 (left). I ordered the parts on the 21st and received them on the 24th. Easy customer service. A pair of slides will set you back $32.

Hope this helps anyone else that's searching for drawer slides.
