Okay folks, I have been lurking on here for a long time and I finally pulled the trigger on a 56" extreme tools box.

I was replacing a 41" costco csps stainless steel box that was actually very sturdy. I was fortunate enough to pick it up before steel prices went crazy and they started taking drawers out to keep prices down. The box sold in about 3 hours at my work and the new owner will give it a good life.

Now on to the new box. I work about 15 minutes from Extreme's warehouse in Naperville, IL but since they are on the level and don't undercut their distributors I purchased from http://www.strictlytoolboxes.com/ and picked it up with a friends pick up saving the shipping fees. I worked out great. Me and my buddy were able to lift it out of the pick up bed with no issues. Extreme loaded it right off the dock with a fork truck.

Thing is packaged very well and didn't have a mark on it. Only had to install the casters which was a little challanging by myself but I managed. Had a neighbor help me lift the chest onto the roller, not that strong anymore and my back might have exploded.

Finish is great, I opt'd for the bright blue so I wouldn't have to look at constant dust on the other black color option. I had a side job to do last weekend on Monday since I had MLK day off. Box works great, drawers I will need to figure out yet as when I close them I was sending stuff rolling around and wrenches all over. They did supply nice precut foam liners for the drawers which will have to do in the interim. Once the drawers were loaded as people have commented they slide even nicer with the weight in them. I believe it is a good deal and the overall construction and finish in a home shop will outlast my working years. I recommend them if you don't have the funds since a mac/snap-on box this size I am guessing would be an easy $10k and up. Very happy, buy with confidence as they say.

Here are some photos since it helped when I was looking:

Said I would never fill this one, I now have the funds for a side locker on the extreme and a couple empty drawers to fill if needed!

You don't need to lay it on its back to install casters, just raise up one side a little and block it. Lie on the floor and bolt them in. Then do the other side.

Wow, I must have missed the email stating I had responses and I also corrected the link to www.strictlytoolboxes.com. The box I got is listed here.

Its dimensions are 56"W x 20"D x 62"H.

I had to prop the box up on wood I had in the garage. Like someone commented, did one side, the middle and then the other side. Just keep it away from anything you value if by yourself if it were to tip I don't think you could stop it.

I wish there were other colors probably will be now that I ordered mine but truthfully I am happy with the blue, I am a ford guy at heart. Blue will also match some of the 4 post lifts I have been looking at :)

I want that compressor!

Welders would be nice but I have a feeling I would do more damage than good. Welding classes at the community college are on my bucket list.

I just sold my hot rod mustang a few years ago and picked up the Grand Sport, not nearly as fast but all I have to do is change the oil, wash, gas and cruise.

Side to side movement is way better than craftsman boxes and not as tight as a Mac box. For home use I don't ever see it as an issue.

They're nice boxes to, I think the Extreme has slightly heavier guage metal 18ga vs 20 ga on the Tool Vault. I ended up winning a new Tool Vault combo in the naming contest (took 2 years) see the story here (last page tells my story) http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=79045

I really like the boxes, here's the review thread with photos and video link:

I wrote a review on strictly's site and they sent me a bunch of swag, hat, mugs, etc.
A few weeks later I got an email stating I won a monthly contest for writing the review and they sent me two complete combination wrench sets, one metric and one standard.
I will be purchasing a side box from them in the future!

Good looking box but a pro box would not be 10000 $ in that size it's only 21912 cubic inches

My cart is "over 22000 cubic inches of mobile, lockable storage" drawer configuration is way different though

Not trying to be a meanie, **** or take away from your thread. Those boxes look like a great value.

Couple ?'s

1) where is it made ( dare I ask )

2) how does it compare to the HF box ?

3) how was it shipped and did they deliver with a drop gate truck ?

4) how long did it take to receive after order ?

5) do they come in red ?

Probably china or somewhere in Asia.

Harbor freight is not even in the same ball park when I checked them out at retail store. Extreme a lot sturdier and nicer.

I am local to extreme's main warehouse so I picked up myself with a pick up truck.
Info is in the first post.

I went and got it just as fast as my charge card processed.

Pretty sure blue and black only or that was it when I ordered.
Call strictly toolboxes, the website I listed has contact info and they are more informed than me. Each time I called the guys were really nice and knew the product inside and out.
