3500 for 768 sq ft. Have not shopped for flooring yet for my woodworking shop, but yikes that’s expensive

You think that's bad, the guy above who suggested RaceDeck smoked oak wood-look is really out to bankrupt you--that stuff is over $7 a square foot. Well out of reach for the average schmuck on this site.

There are reasons behind my logic that would not be appropriate to post here. Feel free to give me a call.

What on Earth would I need to "talk about" regarding this or any other floor tile? I just chimed in when you suggested that the OP disregard a product at a given price point and look into something that costs over 40% more. There are reasons behind that logic, which I will gladly post here. It's akin to somebody telling me they are looking into a sports car and they really like the new Corvette at around $70,000. Then I tell the to buy a Porsche 911 instead.

I'm not hating on RaceDeck in general or their Smoked Oak tiles in particular. I think they're well-made and completely on trend with regard to interior finishing. But the price...

And I agree that there is way too much weirdness in this forum about 'secret prices' and 'call for quote'. Just tell everybody what the price of a given product is already. Why post anything regarding New Age flooring if you are nothing to share it with the forum? You already implied that you think it is junk, so tell us why.

I have no skin in this one. I do have some opinions on certain products. I try to be respectful of other brands etc. in fairness that should have been directed to the OP. Sorry.

Without respect to any specific product or brand. There is more to consider than price and appearance. If I was looking at LVT

-point of origin
-who really makes it
-what testing do they have
-what ratings. Not reviews but ASTM etc
— what chemical testing has been done . Can it be certified lead free, asbestos free, formaldehyde free?

Once all of that is confirmed I would want to know about the install/locking system. Some LVT does well in different climates and substrates. Some does not.

As a practical example we import a certain Product directly. When we consider some of the news/ contamination in recent years, we paid extra for third party tests to confirm contents.

See, I don't get that.
If there are true, fact based reasons for saying something, you ought to be able to post it here so everyone benefits.
If it isn't true, fact based reasons, then it's just an opinion, hunch, feeling - whatever.
Offering to share that opinion privately by phone and not in a message that can be referenced seems shady to me.
If it isn't valid enough to stand up to the scrutiny of many, it probably shouldn't even be shared with one.

I think I addressed this in my previous reply, but I just to make sure.

As vendors allowed in this forum, there have been several instances where negative comments have created horrible situations. I have to much respect for the moderator and you all to do that.

As a rule of thumb, I try not to talk negatively in public about anyone's product. Frankly, I try not to do it on the phone too. In cases like this I find talking with people about it avoids opportunities for misunderstanding.

I get the whole "vendors don't bad mouth other vendors" thing.
The solution to that is to just keep quiet unless it's a question you can openly answer, or have been specifically asked for your opinion on a comparison. No one would then fault you for touting your own or another product.
It's no more wrong to openly criticize a product than it is to do it clandestinely by phone or private message at your request.
Do you think anyone thought your post to have someone call you would result in you giving a glowing review of that product?

Just a personal opinion, which is worth the paper it's printed on.

To be clear I do not have bad information on the specific product in question

Wasn't trying to start anything...just thought others might find it interesting since it's a product from a company known to many of us and that is focused on the garage.

I sent in for the free sample kit so I can see for myself. Having put plenty of vinyl plank down in my house which makes me a little skeptical of it in a garage with cars.

So without any factual answers to your points below regarding New Ages product, you say very confidently in your post that we are “way better of with Racedeck? “ So “without having any skin in this one” you have all the details below for racedeck?

If I read this right the Newage is a ceramic tile look click together floor. Is that correct?

It’s a composite vinyl tile so it does appear to differ from the plastic tiles and the pvc tiles. Interesting product, but it does already exist. Google LVP flooring or LVT flooring.

I apologize. I was sincerely trying to be helpful and I am sorry this has blown up. Honesty not seen this in a post before. I am not attacking any brand and what I listed in the post you quoted are questions I would want to be answered or issues I would want to be addressed.

Their product may very well be an outstanding product. It appears they recently updated their website and have some good testing information here https://newageproducts.com/flooring/flooring-material-testing/ . Obviously its possible I missed it the first time.

I don't offer the Racedeck woods collection. It is something the OP or whoever would have to go direct to them for. What I do know is that any issue I have ever seen with RaceDeck is taken care of instantly. I know they are very protective of their reputation and I know they treat customers well. So yes, I have and will continue to confidentially recommend them. Frankly I confidentially recommend New Age cabinets to people all the time and often send customers to other competitors here in the forum.

There is always a risk with new products. I have launched many good ones and had a flop or two myself.

I see this is your first post! I look forward to getting to know you!

In other news I priced out the Newage flooring for my 405sqft garage and it came out to around $1800 which is only about $700 more than a nice epoxy coating except without the ridiculous amount of prep I would need to do. I am considering it.. my only concern is I have different grade slabs in the garage so the vertical surfaces need to be covered in something..

Ordered a sample and pretty impressed with the weight and feel. I may be a guinea pig for the forum in which case I’ll be sure to write a review.

I'm probably going to go this route.

I just received my sample pack. I like what I see, I like the look of the slate tile for the garage. I have sent them an inquiry about having a four post lift sitting on this product, have not heard back from them. Maybe someone knows the answer to this?

I ended up going this route. Just to be clear, I am not a Newage employee. My earlier post defending them was based upon the great value I have from other Newage Products. I have both Bold garage cabinets and their outdoor kitchen...which is a tremendous value when you compare to others on the market.

My old ID got messed up a few years back and I had to re-register and have only lurked since then. Therefore I'll break my post into 4 posts so I can post the pics.

Thee material is impressive. It has a thin layer of stone, so my battery powered saws were pretty much useless on it. I ended up using the $100 Skil tile saw without water and it worked very well.

It is different from other laminate materials I've used, and I was really struggling until I reached out to Newage. I was used to pulling the tiles in tight horizontally whereas with these you need to line up the groove and hammer straight down with a rubber mallet. I struggled for days and then once I got the right info, finished my 3 car garage in 1.5 days.

I will say their front line customer service leaves a bit to be desired. But once I got in contact with the right person (Ismail), he really took care of me. If you end up needing his email, PM me.

Dr.99 , that floor looks awesome. I love the tile look. Can you post a pic on how you worked around the garage doors? Did you use their rubber transition piece?

I did use their floor transition piece. I was very lucky in that it lined up perfectly with the last tile and I didn't need to go cut tiles across the full width of the garage.

If I had to do one thing different, it would have been to use black silicon. I used clear and you can see the excess. I started to go back and trim it, but have been procrastinating since.

The piece looks good when clean, but it gets dirty really easy. Foot traffic, tire marks, pretty much everything. But it makes it really easy to transition.

I see what you did, you went all the way outside with your tile. I tought the door when closed would sit on top of the rubber strip. So your door just sits on the tile?

It's actually inside. My garage there is a 1" drop in the concrete and then the door closes. I took the tile and rubber transition up to the drop. I painted the concrete black so it looks seamless with the driveway and transition.

Hope that helps...I tried to take some photos but you couldn't tell what was what.

Dr 99 - thanks for posting the photos, it looks great! How did you handle the edges? I see they sell an edge trim piece to cover up cuts but didn’t know if it was necessary.

Im digging this. I received the samples awhile back as well. I'd love to do my whole 40x75 building but..... ouch. I have a 15'x40' closed shop area that I will most likely go this route.

Nice job!

Looks great! Is it textured or smooth? Is it waterproof?

Dr.99, what color is that? I see that NewAge offers 3 colors but I can't be sure which one is down on your floor.

Garage looks fantastic by the way. Good work!

The tile I used is slate and it has a little texture to it. I did use the silver edges on the side. For a while, I figured I would plasti-dip it black, but I realized I have a lot of stainless in the garage, so I would continue that theme. NewAge says water and chemical resistant... https://newageproducts.com/flooring/luxury-vinyl-tiles

They had a debut sale that saved a bunch of dough. Maybe they’ll do some holiday sales.

Thanks for all the compliments.

Dr.99, the website currently shows $3.89/sq ft when you enter your dimensions for a price quote. However, the price is indicated as higher elsewhere on the site. Is the $3.89 figure the 'sale' price that you paid?
