My wife bought me an 8" 3/4hp Dewalt bench grinder for my shop for
this weekend, so I spent the evening cleaning up the benches from my last projects and the accumulation that seems to grow over the days of shop use. My son and I unpackaged it, setup the rests and the shields and powered it up on the bench. Spun it up to operating speed, then shut it down. My son grabbed a scrap piece of steel and turned it back on and as it was speeding up, it lets out a loud pop and starts smoking.
Needless to say, I'm not a very happy camper with Dewalt at the moment. Guess I'm taking it back to Tulsa weds when I head back to the office.
