I've seen the Viper box in person. Very well made. Nice and deep, sturdy box. The give away to see if it is a Viper box is if the stainless top has etched measuring tape on it.

Its also similar to one the Extreme 72" models

Im still working on this project, got the ocean freight, duties & forwarding down to a nice price.. its just the domestic freight cost that can kill the deal. Trying to find a carrier that can give a flat rate to ship from NJ to east coast, mid west & west coast. Also need them to be cooperative if their are claims for damages. Normal LTL companies want $500 to ship from NJ to NY & over $1500 to ship from NJ to CA.. The size of the box is the problem, doesnt fit on a standard pallet obviously.

I have been looking at the HF 72" box, like others said I'm disappointed the drawers only being 20" deep. If you come out with a good price on the box that you posted, I'll be in. I live in VA, would take up and pick it up. Thanks for checking into this.

Anyone get one of these yet? None of the local stores in my area have any yet....

A few pages back someone has one they just got. It's really nice looking. I don't think these will be in stores. I guess HF is citing loading as an issue store level. For the price to get something that size to you door is worth it. I hope more people take advantage of this.

I'm pretty sure that's one of the older boxes. The one on the site now is made by a different manufacture with different specifications.

Sorry for keeping everyone waiting.. it doesnt seem feasible to import a container of the 72" boxes , all the pricing works out great until you figure the inland freight to get them from my warehouse to each person. Got a quote from a family member who works at ODFL and just to ship from NJ to Long Island was $500 with liftgate! Thats insane. The size/non standard pallet is what kills it. There are definitely freight companies out there that could do better, but This is not what my company normally handles so I wouldn't have the purchasing power to get great rates for that. A company like strictlytoolboxes probaly has a contract for flat shipping rates for east coast, mid west, west coast etc. But they ship 100-'s - 1000's of toolboxes a year.

If anyone else would like to take this over I could handle the ocean freight & forwarding, but warehousing and deliveries would have to be on them.

on another note I was in Harbor Freight yesterday checking out the 56" top & bottom box, i noticed that the drawers seem to have detents in addition to the sliding latches. I was messing around holding the latch in & closing the drawers, they seemed to stay closed snugly without the latch. Does anyone have one that can confirm this?
Id like to get a 72" box while its still on sale and just remove the latches.

just saw this available but noticed that nearly 90 wait time to get it, looks like a darn nice box for the price tag and would be tough choice over the STB versions. I just wish I could see it in person.

I am very interested in one of these but I have a few questions because I am confused. The drawers are 26" deep right? Also do they make a top for it? I have a pick up truck but I think i need a trailer for this thing to get it unloaded.

so they did change the size? :( Maybe I will get the 56 with the top box.
Yes they changed the size. No.parts available. 56" top and bottom have more storage space bottom is available for 699 I believe and top for 399. Thats what I have. If you search under my SN and then threads started by, you'll see my 56" hf drawer layout thread if your interested.

Did anyone ever get one of these newer style 72" boxes?
I'm looking but every time I go the the local hf they tell me "it's in transit, going to be her with the next delivery" and it never shows up.
Just wondering.
The williams boxes from toolsdelivered.com look pretty good but more pricey.

Is this dead? I would be interested in a box and could pick it up, maybe a second for someone up the Thruway.

Wrong thread, this is about US General 72" box. It should be better,it costs almost three times as much.

They seem to be of the same quality as the 44" box. Just not as deep. Nice and long. I was tempted but I don't need to spend 1100 on a box right now.

What I've heard is, because this is a relatively new product, a HUGE product, and the stores have limited storage space, they are easing into its in-store accessibility. A handful of stores will take orders for them and have them delivered there. A handful of other stores will get two at a time-- a display and one in the back. Which ones are doing these programs are not clear, but it might be worth it to check your local one. It only makes sense for them to expand that accessibility as sales are being made, though.

New to the forum but they appear to be out again, looked at one locally. I dont like the plastic drawer locks personally. Was looking at getting the 44" top and bottom and like the way the drawers click in but have a concern with that... They have a returned top box and the drawers wouldn't click in so I'm wondering if that is a common problem. We'll see what I decide on...

I have both boxes at work, sort of, I have the 56" not the 72"( has the same type of locks I believe) ,have had it for 5 years and the 44" for 2-3 years and both have no issues with anything at this point. The 44" gets a lot of action as it's my roll cart.

I did pick one up and made it into a hutch. It has been nice to have the extra storage....

I was able to actually see one in person at the local HF, and it is still the "bang for the buck" option. The next closet thing is the $1400 SPG International from Costco.

Menards has the 72" Masterforce on sale until the 13th for $999. Its 24" Deep, compared to the 22" Harbor Freight 72" toolbox. And you get your choice of red, blue, black, or green. Masterforce toolboxes are made by SPG International.
