Press and a set of slip rolls to re-form the bearings? I'm guessing braze the two halves together and clean the ring up on the lathe?
Will The bronze tolerate reshaping that far???Got the hub rough cut today.
10"x .365W
Also started cutting some bronze for bearings, between the body and hub.
The material I have is 7-3/4OD x .350W
With the bronze being smaller in diameter than needed, I'll have to make them in two segments and reform them.
I'll use the hub as a form to reshape them.Press and a set of slip rolls to re-form the bearings? I'm guessing braze the two halves together and clean the ring up on the lathe?
I'll use the hub as a form to reshape them.
They will be screwed to the hub, so I'll wedge and clamp them in the hub as I work around drilling and tapping.
I believe they won't need brazed, with being screwed to the hub.
Then haul them to a friends shop for turning, as I don't have a lathe, that is capable.
Steel
Looks good- how big was the lathe your friend used to bore and turn it?Hub bored and faced, body turned.
Now to start on attaching axles to the hub.
