Took Monte to one car show this summer. The guy in the Challenger nearly backed into my passenger door, he only stopped when my wife yelled, he was about 6" from hitting me. Good thing I took her along, (she is a good yeller). The Challenger was an awesome car though, looked original.

Caught your pic in the garage at night thread...great build you have there. A few questions...

Do you have picture of a floor plan? Where will lift go? (I am planning a similar build and wonder how you will jockey things around with one large door)
How well does the large slider seal up? Custom built by you?
Attic trusses all the way through? Dimensions? Access?
What is your roof pitch?
Height from concrete to interior ceiling? Slab thickness?

Thanks. Looking forward to more updates.

The floor plan is just 32' x 48' with a 11' lean-to on each side, one side for storage and one side is a patio.

The main door is 16' x 10' so I have no problem moving things in an out.

I wanted a lift but did not want to commit any permanent space to it so I got single post portable lift. It is awesome, so much more versatile than a 2 or 4 post lift. Here is my thread on it.

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=350384

I built everything myself with the exception of the trusses and pouring the floor. The doors fit very well, I spent a lot of time making sure the door opening and the doors were square and fit good. I still need to add some weatherstripping though.

Attic trusses the whole length so I have a room that is 14' x 48' with a 7.5' ceiling that is accessible from inside with stairs and outside with doors. I installed an electric winch in the peak so I can lift heavy things up to the attic.

Main barn roof is 8-12 pitch and lean-to roof is 4.

Height from floor to finished ceiling is 12' 6" and the concrete slab is 6" thick the width of the door he full length, the rest is 4". We used a 6.5 sack concrete mix, wire mesh. Also put down a plastic vapor barrier inside.

Just got a 130,000 btu Reznor heater installed a few weeks ago and it heats the main room very well.

Thanks for the details and neat lift. Can you give some more information on the winch outside the attic door? How did you frame in a beam off the truss and hide it behind the eave? Some more picture of that 16x10 sliding door would be nice too (when you have time of course).

Again, great build. Thanks for responding.

Here are some winch pics. The large red and silver antique pulley in the front is only decoration and helps hide the winch hook. This is all my design. I had to fabricate the bracket and modify the safety hoop mechanism and lengthen control switch cord.

It works great, I use it a lot to move things in and out of the attic and for loading my truck and trailer. It will lift about 600 lbs. I reinforced that area of the barn when I framed it so it could handle the weight.

Here are some pics of the door. I mistakenly gave the dimensions in the previous post as 10x16 but it is actually 12x16. As the pics show I still need to add weatherstrip at the top and bottom but have not found anything I like yet.

I used Cannonball Kwik Frame parts to make the doors.
