I see there is a section for it on the 3/8 ratchet section of the Snap-On website.

I find it interesting on the standard handle ratchet the F100 they opted for a longer handle than the F80.

I'm trying to figure out just what the difference is if you have a 4.5 degree swing angle VS a 3.6 degree swing angle? I mean, sure, Somewhere, someone may have clearance issues on a something, but I want to know WHAT has a 0.9º angle difference where one would work and the other is too tight? add to that - 100 clicks to get ONE thread depth off, how much tome do you HAVE? That's why they invented U joints and extensions out the wazoo... Seems (to me) more gimmick than demand driven.

80 served a need, albeit a small one, over the older 72 click standard... 100 click? Why not just make a slip ratchet, no clicks at all, but it binds positively in one direction and slides in the other. Electronic mag lock handle, where you push a button and it magnetically locks the head in place no matter where, and you release the button and it turns freely.

I guess they figured to jump on the high tooth count bandwagon. Does this mean the Dual 80 will be biting the dust? My bet is they'll play the X% stronger than the Dual 80 game, less swing in tight places hype, etc. Time will tell.

Figures. I just ordered an FLLF80 last week and haven’t even got it yet!

I disagree with the criticism above. The Dual 80 has had a long run already. It was about time for an update, if progress was possible. And it seems it was. There is plenty to like here, at least on paper:
  • head is a bit smaller in width: 1-7/32″ (F100) versus 1-1/4″ (F80)
  • head has less height too: 15/32″ (F100) versus 9/16″ (F80)
  • 20% higher tooth count (granted, there wasn’t much to complain about with 80 teeth)
  • 10 versus the old 7 teeth in contact, suggesting the new mechanism should be at least as strong despite more teeth
  • only a very small price increase.
There’s nothing on the website about back-drag, but you’d hope Snap-on has done its homework there too.

Actually, the FLLF100 (extra-long handle) is even more intriguing, if the specs on the website are correct.

Compared to the FLLF80 I have on order, the FLLF100 has:
  • exactly the same US price, no price increase at all (don’t know about European prices)
  • a much narrower head: 1-7/32″ versus 1-3/4″
  • a much shallower head: 15/32″ versus 11/16″
  • 20% higher tooth count
  • 10 teeth in contact versus the previous 7 teeth.
So whereas the old extra-long 3/8″ model had a larger head than the shorter-handled models, presumably to cope with the higher torque it might see, the new extra-long model seems to have the same head as the models with a regular handle.

So it looks like Snap-on is very confident in the strength of this new ratchet mechanism.

The difference will be obvious when you’re changing the starter on a 5.0L Explorer and current ratchets on the market only click one time per swing. (FML!)

So a 0.5 degree gain is worthwhile but not a 0.9 degree gain? :headscrat

Mark my words, we will see 120 teeth… 144 teeth… 180 teeth. Maybe even 200, 240, 300, 360.

I have F80's, but still like using my F830's and F936's.
For me, they work.:lol:

It wasn't intended to be a criticism, just me thinking how they'd market it. It now makes me wonder why they didn't wait a bit longer with the new line of locking flex-head ratchets and implement the F-100 design into it. My bet is that's next.

You might want to cancel the order. ;)

This is a peculiar way to launch a major new product line. Nothing on YouTube, not even Snap-on’s official channel. No PDFs that I can find. No lead-up hype or big reveal website. No real info anywhere. Just a bunch of product pages on the website.

Maybe those product pages weren’t supposed to have gone live yet.

Surely Snap-on doesn’t think these things will sell themselves in a hyper-competitive influencer-led landscape? It’s tacky, but you gotta get some hype going these days. The product pages don’t even have photos.

I’m guessing something about this launch was slightly botched, but who knows. Won’t change the products anyway.

Well, there’s the wee matter of price. I suspect it’ll be a while before these F100s change hands at any real discount, especially in my part of Europe.

They were just reveled at the snap on show I believe, I’ve seen several dealers on line posting about them at the expo, however nothing on when they will be available, my guess is this week now thst the dealers are coming home from expo

Most of the advantages of these high tooth ratchets only exist on paper. It's just a marketing gimmick to get people to replace/buy more tools.
