Maybe somebody make such a thing, but if not, they should.

Basically a boxed end wrench that can only go on from one side so you can put a nut into it and it will not fall through.

For example, I was trying to work on my daughters car today, and deep in a narrow slot I needed to slid a nut in and hold it so I could tighten it from the other side. Usually I have to try to balance it on my fingertip and then get the nut started and then get a wrench to hold it.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had this problem.

I tried my finger, but the slot wasnt big enough, and if I bumped it on the way in, it would drop down into the door and rattle for eternity, tried needle nose pliers but they wouldn't make it through the slight angle, magnets wouldn't work because it was a stainless nut.

Do they make anything like this already? If so, I need to buy a set.

Oh I've done the tape on the wrench thing plenty enough times :lol_hitti

But is a ring wrench what your after though? :headscrat

Just stops the nut from passing thru

Especially handy for using a box end on a long threaded shaft

I've been hawking Mastergrip ring wrenches on my tool table for season or two :D

a reversible ratcheting wrench

Might have one set left :pimpflash

Wow! Great ideas. And I will keep an eye out for a set of ring wrenches. It seems like I need them often.

Thank you all.

I have a set of CMAN ratchet wrenches that only allow you to put the box end on a bolt/nut on one side.

When I encounter this kind of problem I’ll put a piece of electrical or duct tape across back side so the nut can’t fall out. You can also accomplish this with a decent strength magnet

I've used tape around the nut/bolt head so it would jam. And I have a set of Craftsman / GearWrench ratcheting combo wrenches where the boxend has a stop as on some of the pictures above.

These are the kind of shenanigans I'm all about, some crafty suggestions!

Oem tools makes a ringstop set

OEMTools will also send you a second set of rings to replace the ones that ship in the wrenches, AND they're reversible. I'm a pretty big fan, overall.

Maybe I'm crazy, but that's when I would dig out a flanged nut. Those don't go through wrenches. I have used the paper trick with sockets to get into hard to reach places, though.
