I have the satin finish wright grip wrenches, standard and metric, and they are frickin' awesome. Also have the ratchets in 3/8, 1/2, and 3/4. They are all serious tools. I will continue to purchase more as needed. You can't get a crappy tool that says Wright on it.

This thread is making me want to throw my run of the mill craftsman ratchets in the scrap bin. Is there an online website that has these? Its funny the plant is only a few miles away from me but I haven't ever seen wright tools in person.

always act like the smallest lobster in the grocery store tank

Jere dont hesitate. I feel like it would be a great investment.

Yes, my grandpa worked there when he got out of high school.

For the locals, Hartville Hardware Started carrying Wright in their store a few months ago. They have the basics but it is a nice display.

Well mister lobster, here you go:

ratchets

wrenches

just read the reviews :)

and that price! Shame on them for being so good for a minor premium above junk brands.

They (Epstein's) don't have everything but any of their catalog can be ordered, just call and ask. Doesn't take long from what I've heard.

Amazon.com, HarryEpstein, Royal tool supply, tool up. Epstein and Amazon will probably be the best place, Royal tool supplys got some pretty good prices to. I personally went with Epstein and Amazon . Hope this helps some!

I work in Hartville and I had noticed the display also. My dad took a really old Wright 3/8 socket that he had broken and they exchanged it straight across no questions asked. The store is pricy but they do have everything!

Anybody interested in Wright tools in the Charlotte, NC area, go check out Wotco on the north side (corner of Graham and Norris). They stock almost the full line of hardline stuff on site, and their prices are quite good.

Which one would you say has a better selection in stock? Have to go in both areas for work this week. Lake shore looks like they carry SK as well. Going there tomorrow.

Its a pretty aggressive knurling. I have not seen a new SK up close to compare though.

I have a new sk, and can barely feel it. Its not at all like my dads from the 70's. He busted the head on his with a cheater pipe attached to the end of it working on some farm equipment.

Does the Wrights knurled handles have the knurling you can feel, or are they like the new sk that have the smooth knurling?
I recently ordered a Wright 1/2" drive breaker bar. I'll post back when it arrives if no one else responds with the answer by then.

I'm in the process of putting together a portable tool set and have included some Wright tools. Good stuff. The only reservation I have with Wright tools is their 1/4" drive sockets. The ones I bought a few years ago lack any retaining hole or detents. Are the newer ones still like that?

Brownsfan,

I think Shop Supply (Eastlake store) has an edge in number of individual wrenches and wrench sets in stock. Lakeshore Tool has more individual sockets, ratchets, breaker bars, and screwdrivers in stock. I think the Mentor Shop Supply used to/still stocks the Cougar mechanic's sets (call to verify if interested). If you would like to order a wrench set from Shop Supply, it took about a week. I ordered one satin finish metric set 3 years ago for a friend.

Now that you mention it, I do believe that is still the case.

When did Wright change their 8 point sockets to be more "traditional"? On the left is a 4316, on the right is a 3316. I'd love to find an old style 3316.

Just got my first Wright tool today... combo wrench that I picked up for a friend. Bought Wright because it was the least expensive well regarded brand I could find. Darn thing makes my SK wrenches look wimpy and Snap-On look downright spindly! If he can break this thing (and he's a big guy) I'll be surprised... if it's a decent alloy and well treated it can't help but last forever.

Stopped at lakeshore tool today. Ended up buying a SK 3/8 flex head ratchet instead of the wright. I didn't like the black comfort grip on the wright ratchet.
This place is great. They have Proto, Wright, SK, Channellock and Klein in stock on display. They even had the new proto screwdrivers in stock. They are really nice. The people there are great and really know their tools. If you live anywhere near this place there is no reason to EVER step foot into a big box store for tools ever again. I am a customer of theirs for life.

I was using my 1 1/8 wright wright grip wrench today to change my bucket on a hoe. Man do those teeth ever bite into the bucket bolt. no wear near the corner. impressive. I reefed on that sucker hard but the beam is thick so it don't hurt your hands. Great wrenches. I look forward to using it again.

I received my 18" long Wright breaker bar. The knurling on the Wright bar is grippier/rougher than the SK and similar Proto breaker bar knurling. However, it is not so rough that it is sharp nor will it snag on anything. The bar itself quite stout. It is the thickest 1/2" drive bar in a 17" or 18" length I've seen.

Good tools! I found a display in a small hydraulic hose shop while I was looking for some o-rings (ethanol problems) and found that 1 1/16 wrench I needed.

Now it is my first stop when I realize I need a new wrench, socket or something.
Never get out of there without buying something extra though.

I'm a new member here but also a Wright tool fan. I work in Barberton, Ohio about 1/2 a mile from the Wright tool factory. Today I received some new Wright tools that I would like to share.

I love Wright tools, I wish they would expand their ratchet offerings to include a bent handle without the goofy rubber grip. Wright is the best kept secret in hand tools and has some of the nicest chrome I've ever seen. Some day I will have a complete set of Wrightgrip wrenches.
