Another vote for bandsaw.

But more importantly.. how do you get a quart of Hammerite for only one dollar?
:headscrat

Garage Sale. I got two cans like that for $1 each and two spray cans(same color) for $0.25 each but they don't spray so I'll puncture them and try saving the paint. It's really old MID GREEN paint, when I opened the can it was jello, took me about two hours hand mixing to bring the color back.

I know what it is, but I'm pretty sure you left the flux capacitor out of that last picture...

It can barely be seen in the background of the first pic :D

Keep the projects coming!! Excellent work!

The welding table is next, 2" top weighs over 1,000 lbs so stay tuned.

can't wait to see it done, I have one from the 30's to get back going

Awesome, be sure to share it when you get it going!

Nice. I Want to see this project. Looks like you are going to paint it with a brush. Let me know your technique to keep it smooth. Are you replacing the tires?

I plan to reduce and spray it with my HF gun. I have brand new blue silicone tires to put on it and the bearings should be here any day. I may even make a 3 bearing blade guide if I have time.

Thanks WarrenJ! Here is a sneak peak at what I have been working on lately.

It's an old Kennedy 20" carry box I just refinished.

Was wondering if you have or could post a step by step of how you do this and what you use. This is bad ***.

People make them with a sawzall and a band clamp but it was relaxing to sit and stir for ever. I'm just glad the color came back, it's going to be freakin sweet. The black parts are drying now and then I'll be spraying the green. I thought the humidity would mess up the paint but the black hammer rustoleum came out better than any other time I've ever painted hammer paint. If the green comes out this good I'll be really happy!

scuff the part you plan to cover. cut out way too many pages of your favorite paper pictures. Mix elmers glue and water about 50/50, wet the pictures with the mixture and place it where you want it. Use a plastic card to smooth out wrinkles and form it to the piece. Continue until finished then spray with clear to seal it.

Well the green did not come out as planned... Either it's going to be the coolest mistake ever, or the worst mistake ever on a refurb. I'll know more tomorrow or Monday.

Good looking work man, you gave me tons of ideas. I've got a couple questions when you get a second.

I've been using Rust-Olem Hammered for quite a while on a number of smaller things with pretty good success. Have you used it? Wondering what the differences between it and the Hammerite are. Have you ever tried to roll on Hammerite on a flat surface?

What type of blast setup do you use? I really need to get one. Thanks.

Thanks Bodydamage. I have used Rustoleum Hammered in the rattle cans and quarts but never rolled any on. I use a cheap HF spray gun to shoot the paint on. I have no idea what the difference is in paints, this is my first time using Hammerite.

Cool. Supposedly Rustoleum Hammered is a less durable American version of Hammerite. Ive had pretty good luck with Hammered however.

I am looking at getting a sand/media blasting setup and was wondering what you use. Ive got plenty of air to run it, just not entirely sure what direction I want to go. I would like a cabinet (as it rains here a lot), but still need the portability of being able to blast outside (I need to do a trailer). For me, for this, cheaper is better.

The blast cabinet I have is just a standard style cabinet I got used for a deal, nothing special about it. I would like a larger one but this one takes up too much room as it is so I just deal with it. You may need two separate blasters for your needs, one cabinet for smalls and a portable for larger outside items.

For those big jobs outside, check out the water pressure type blasters. If you have a high pressure washer available you can buy the wand, hose, media attachments separately and use water pressure to blast. It totally eliminates the cloud of media material that goes everywhere (including all over you). You need around a 2500 - 3000psi washer I'm told.

With any power saw refurb, there will be a motor involved. Crossing my finger this one works, I didn't test it before I ripped into it and started renewing it.

And here is what happens when you over thin really old hammerite paint and spray it. I'm digging the look so I'll act like I meant to do that if anyone likes it, otherwise it was an accident. :D

The black Rustoleum was thinned just right.

Looks really good. I've never had good success thinning and spraying hammered paint, which drives me nuts cause paint a car with the best of 'em.

The Hammer tone grey looks great - the green looks outrageous, I guess now it just depends what the main feature is going to look like

Thanks guys. I painted it upside down with the over thinned paint, it had a reaction and broke apart running down. When I flipped it over, I thought it looked cool so I went with it for now. I may get the band saw body painted tonight but it will probably be tomorrow sometime. I wouldn't mind if it came out like the stand but it's not a controlled method, all the parts came out different from each other so I'm hoping for a perfect hammer finish.

Looks good, very unique for sure. I wonder if the age had anything to do with it or if it was just the thinning? Did you test the motor yet?
