Thank you ZM!! The injuries I have been dealing with for years, nerve damage from a car accident when I was younger... A few years ago I got "tennis elbow" in one arm, so I get cortisone shots in it... Then last month my other elbow got it, so now I get shots in both...

I am not complaining though, my favorite Aunt has MS and can't even scratch her nose if it's itchy... I have it pretty good in comparison...

I have no set timelines on my reno... No stress, however it does "get old at times!! I am learning as I go!!

A very extensive project! I've been following along as you've posted updates. You are definitely in it for the long haul but will have essentially a brand new place when you're done and far more space. Great job.

Nice dolly

It was funny, a bud asked me if I had a furniture dolly he could borrow, that's why I built it... When he saw it he said it was too nice to use... Lol...

I know it's going to get beat up, that's what it is for!! It was fun to build!! Pretty sturdy too!!

Thank you very much!! Going from about 600 to 1500 sq ft!! The only part of the old house left is the foundation, joists, and side walls!!

I have some great friends that have helped and also answered any questions along the way!!

The electrical and hvac is being installed by licensed pros, with permits and inspections for everything... I am not messing with that stuff!!

I built a stand to help install the stairs, lol

I was going to get a bud to come and help me, but the stand worked better and safer than I thought, was able to slide it in place myself!!

Subscribed! I always admired your Snap-On addiction in the 'new tools' thread glad I found your thread to follow.

How did you learn to do construction/framing etc? I'm self taught but wasn't until in the last 8-10 yrs, prior to that it was always computers, cars etc. I'm always second guessing about the building codes when building something since it's not my trade.

I learned a lot from family and friends over the years... One of my friends is a finishing carpenter, and my uncle and cousin have been journeymen framers for years!!

So lots of helping and learning along the way!! Everything else is self taught trial and error!! Lol!!

One thing I do have is a good imagination to help figure things out, and google/youtube sure helps!!

Looking back, I have been pretty lucky to have some great people around me, especially
when it comes to my reno... My Uncle and Cousin built the whole second floor, my Dad and I just helped and tried not to slow them down!! They wouldn't take any money, but I got my cousin a bunch of snap on tools and promo stuff!!

My best bud helped me weather shield and shingle the roof, I only had to pay for his helpers labor, so 300 bucks to shingle the roof is pretty good... He is also going to do the siding, soffit, facia, and capping this spring... That will only cost materials...

Like I said before, I have pro electricians and hvac guys, they don't work for free though, lol!! I will be hiring a pro mudder too, willing to pay for that too...

I hear ya, I been doing a lot of my basement Reno’s, just brought in a guy who does full basement Reno’s to quote me on finishing it off...now a lot of the drywall will be coming down to be done properly. Oh well least all of my wiring and just some minor mods to the door frames Are needed to be done.

I not looking forward to the quote but I will be looking forward to being able to paint, floor and trim.

That's awesome you have close family friends that are in the trade to learn from. As I found out after building stuff the wrong way that it's not rocket science but you also can't just start nailing stuff willy nilly haha

I haven't done any updates here for awhile!!

First, my Raptor got hit right before Christmas... It was parked out front of my house. I was in the garage, and the neighbor called to tell me...

Car was stolen and thief bailed the scene, but left a bunch of blood behind... He must of come around the corner and then lost control...

20191114_104036.jpg

20191114_104116.jpg

Car was impounded by the police to do forensics on it...

20191114_104443.jpg

Insurance covered the rental while my truck was getting fixed,

20191114_175602.jpg

There was 10 grand damage to the Raptor,

20191118_145914.jpg

There was no damage to the hood or passenger fender from the accident, but they had a bunch of rock chips and scuffs , so I had them painted too... I also paid them to paint the fender flares to color match the truck... They had to paint the new bumper anyway, so I had them paint it black too!!

They messed up on one of the front fenders, so it is going back in next week to get repainted...

I am getting this old damage at the back fixed at the same time...

20200128_162017.jpg

I bought new rear bumper pieces, and am going to get them painted black to match the truck too... I will take the bumper off first and reinstall it when painted, save some cash!!

20200128_150812.jpg

One of the decals has to be removed to do the body work and paint... Instead of spending like 700 bucks on a new one, I am just going to pull them both off... Go stealth for awhile!! LOL

The old water heater was dying and had to be moved, so I replaced it with a commercial model,

The hvac guys also removed the old octopus of iron gas pipe, and put a new manifold in,

20191022_162425.jpg

The ducting is mostly in, I have to take some pics of it,

Main run from furnace to second floor,

You have some determination and long-suffering with the "remodel", which is essentially a brand new house when done. Congrats to you. Is the plan to live there when it's done or is it a rental? Where are you living in the meanwhile?

Living in the basement, it used to be a rental suite... I will probably sell it when I am all finished, I want a place with a big shop!!

It's taking so long because I am trying to do it without getting a mortgage!!

Brutal about the Raptor. But solid job on taking advantage of the silver lining and getting some extra items fixed/addressed in the meantime. Happened to me as well several cars ago. Had my MINI in my driveway and some douche fleeing the cops slammed into it.

Wow you have been busy.

Work is real busy too, a lot going on right now...

The Raptor has been a great truck, so I plan on keeping it!! Maybe super charge it in a couple years!!

My insurance adjuster and the body shop were good. My truck went in the same day, and they had a rental truck pre set up for me... I didn't even have to pay a deductible, it was classed as no fault to me!!

Money wise I would have liked to wait awhile to get the extra work done, but I do really like the color matched bumper and fender flares!! Been picturing that in my head for awhile now... Same as removing the decals , so no loss there!!
