I did tell the owner about the GJ , however he is not online.
The flatbed belongs to the kid who was helping roof the buildings.
I can't remember the year and model , but it is actually sitting on a Toyota frame.

Stopped by there about a month ago and the owners brother in law happened to be there
And said Roger ( the owner ) was at home recovering from a pressure canner blowing up on him. Did not sound like a pleasant occurrence !

Here is a photo from the backside of the station.
Turns out its being turned into a small living quarters.
Kind of a neat idea.

I was just there this weekend with the Dune buggy club. There is an old station in Comfort Tx also but did not take pics of it.

This place is about a mile from my house. It's a used car lot now, but was a gas station back in the day. Note the 'service' sign over the door, I'm guessing it dates to the 1930s.

Here's one that's now being used as an auto body shop.
This place seems huge. The body shop may have added to it.

Here are a couple in town that are alive and well in new rolls as a restaurant and a plant shop.

Teddy Bear's Truck Stop, Utah - The truck stop was at the end of Skull Valley which led to the entrance of Dugway Proving Grounds Army Base. I was stationed there in the late 1980's and apparently the truc kstop closed down shortly after. I remember they had a bunch of different Elvis stuff there for sale. Never took any pictures of my own, but then again I was only 21 and thought everything lasted forever.

I was up in Millerstown, Pa. visiting a few Grabber Orange Mustang friends and we came across a few stations (Damn if I know where exactly! Maybe the Wildcat trail?) so I took a few pics....

Swartz's is defunct now, but very way cool place...I would love to live in this garage!!!!

The pumps were newer so it couldn't have been closed too long ago! The wife brought her grabber coupe too and had to pose...LOL!

Then, down the road, a cool greasy spoon!

Here's another one in Central Illinois. Little town called Ivesdale in southwest Champaign County someone really put some work into the place. I didn't even realize it was there since it had been several years since I cut through there

Even though I cant contribute anything about tools to this site and came here to help my ill cousin as many know this site has really been a lot of fun ..

In the 50's my Uncle owned the Only Mobile ( I should say gas station ) around for miles and miles .. they of course did repairs and everyone knew him .. the roads in those days were dirt and gravel .. now all paved and those from long island would be surprised to know it was at the corner of Jericho and 110 where the 1-800 flowers is now ..

people had a close relation to their station from stories my mom would tell me .. her brother, my uncle was much older then her ..

we used to travel out from Brooklyn to the "wilderness" to visit and I look fondly back at that station .. I found this photo that kind of reminds me of his ..

I remember that area well. And that gas station. It was still there at least till the 80's. And across the street where the Staples is now, was a cool old dealership which I think was either Cadillac or Oldsmobile. Last time it was standing, it was a discount appliance store untill it was razed

The southwest corner was Pase Fuels.

Here was an old Esso station near my house in Holly Springs, N.C....now it's a parking lot:mad:
It was in business from 1954 to 1978, then it was an unbranded repair shop.

Sinclair Station here in Fort Worth not too far from the TCU campus
7.jpg

Looks familiar - but it's been a long time since I've been in that area. Grew up south of Bluebonnet Circle. What street is that station on?

Found it - McCart and Dickson. Go south, turn right on Pafford, then south on Grandbury, right on Brady, left on Winfield, 2nd house on the left is the old home place. So yea, I thought I knew the station. Thanks for lighting up the memory cells!

Mobil in Gold Bar, WA

Here's a Google image of my Dad's Mobil (later Gulf) on Highway 2 in Gold Bar, WA. The building on the left was our house. The building on the right was a 3-bay service shop. We had a little store where Mom dipped ice-cream. We had a steady stream fisherman and hunters stopping in. I remember the time a guy brought in a charger and my Dad and the owner of the car got a real kick out of watching me try to find the gas cap (I was nine years old). When Dad changed over to Gulf my Grandpa removed the porcelain over steel Mobil Pegasus and stashed it in the garage. Pegasus hangs in my living room today. I have fond memories of growing up in this little town.

Don Long I drove across Texas this last weekend and drove by several old gas stations and told my wife that we should buy one and move it home to our garage, I told her a guy on GJ did this. THe look she gave me pretty much ended that conversation. I guess I'll start small and work on some old gas pumps first.

Well Nighttrain I found it easier to beg forgivness than to get permission
on some of my bigger projects with my wife so she finally gave up and joins me with the endeavors now so life is good

Wow, would that ever make an awesome shop.

I worked for an Irving Oil station 5 years while I was younger (not that I'm particularly old at 26, but whatever) and I've always liked their old stations even before I worked there. They're getting hard to find nowadays, I only know of one of the vintage style stations still in operation in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.

It would be a dream to be able to build something similar as a personal shop.

Here's a pic from one they relocated to a heritage village in New-Brunswick.
