This old "Mini" Sinclair station was still open back in the mid to late 60's when I was a preteen.
Probably as early as the 1920, it was pumping gas and filling tires.
On a triangle parcel of land between 134th on Brainard and Carolondet in far south Chicago in a neighborhood call Hegewisch, close to the city limits boundary.

I dated a girl in college who lived near Avenue O on the south side. Doesn't look like this was too far away.

This is my first post!! My Dad worked at Vinsetta Garage in the 70's-80's. It is located on Woodward Ave. in Berkley Michigan outside Detroit. It was considered the oldest working repair shop east of the Mississippi until it closed a few years back. To make things worse, it was converted to a restaurant, sealing its fate of never being a repair shop again. Below are some pictures I found on the internet.

The picture with the cars lined in front is during the Dream Cruise.

I have been collecting pictures of old gas stations for some time. Some are falling into ruins, some are restored, and some are repurposed. As a resource for those who are trying to recreate that bygone flavor in their own shops/garages, I offer these pics:

Thanks man, I have quite a collection of old gas station pictures, but these are all new to me.
I do use all these pics to recreate that bygone flavor, as you call it ;), in my Indoor TEXACO Gas Station.
So again many thanks to you  , I love this thread !!

This is a restored Shell-station in Mosjoen, Norway. Fits well in with the historic street of Sjogata (sea-street), that runs along the riverbank behind it.

Hey, that's Afton Station! Very much still there, though not a DX service station any more. Laurel and David have turned it into a Packard museum and Route 66 stop. She's a very nice lady, who writes a daily blog about her experiences there.

There are several I can think of along the South Shore in NS. Due to retire soon and I'll post some pics then.

Wow, would that ever make an awesome shop.

I worked for an Irving Oil station 5 years while I was younger (not that I'm particularly old at 26, but whatever) and I've always liked their old stations even before I worked there. They're getting hard to find nowadays, I only know of one of the vintage style stations still in operation in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.

It would be a dream to be able to build something similar as a personal shop.

Here's a pic from one they relocated to a heritage village in New-Brunswick.

This book "Along Route 66" by Quinta Scott has some great photos of vintage gas stations!

Here's a picture (of a picture) of my Dad that was taken in May of 1957. He was 31 then and is 87 now. It's in his BA station in Clarkson, Ontario. It eventually became a U-Haul dealership in the 80's and still is. This picture currently hangs in my garage and is one of the first things I see when I walk in.

I found this off I-35 in OK. I plan on building a pole barn soon but with this site Now I find myself searching out old signs, gas stations and architecture. When I see them I pull over and snap away. I will add some influences to the build for sure.

show your old shops, gas stations, mechanic garages.

Wow, does anyone else see that canopy in the first pic as being on some very long and narrow columns? I'm not sure I would trust it.

Great pics thanks for sharing.

Here's one local to me - it was staggering along for a while, then shut, then opened again, then closed for good.
All it's used for now is trucks pulling in for coffee breaks.
