Busy day yesterday. Builder's door crew of two showed first thing (note frost on grass) then electrical guy came after lunch.The door install went well and these doors and openers are the quietest I have ever seen. Sure is nice to be closed in.

We got the eletrical service set in place and I helped drive the ground rods (not much fun).

Clipped: i wonder if you thought when you started that you'd have it like this for Thanksgiving. more awesome pictures showing quality work and construction materials too. i always enjoy popping in and seeing how you are coming along. i can only hope my shop build goes this well when we move.

Can I ask what model your Kubota tractor is ? I'd love to get one oneday if I ever make it out of the suburbs and get some acres.

Grumblebum: No on the wood stove even though I have 15 acres of hard woods. Safety issue. Will get a patio set and grill for under the porch next summer.
The Kubota is an L4610 GST with a six foot wide bucket. I've had it for 11 years and it has done well for me.

Some pics of moving a small load using wife's new (used) lawn toy.
Both cabinets came from auctions and are made by HON. The one with drawers was $45 and the one with doors was $10. Will start moving big stuff after electrical is done.

Electrical inspection was done last week. Now we have to wait for the power co. to do their thing.

I got started on the shelves today. I took the easy way and bought ready made stuff. I loaded some junk on them to see how it looks. Some of the cans still need cleaning.

A few weeks ago we wondering what was going on. So we made the call to the electrical guy to find out he had been sick for a week and was in the ER and was admitted for a couple days. I spoke with him after he got out (still recovering) and told him I would do the lights and receptacles to help out. I really just want to get it done! My wife helped me mount the 8' lights (9 of them) on the 12' 6" ceiling. She does not like ladders and I'm not to happy on them. Shoud have gotten a man lift

Clipped: i bought a warehouse ladder for my storage unit and if you have the space it might be a good idea to get on for your shop. or i've also got 2 giant A frame type ladders and giant's scaffolding piece to put between the two if i need a platform up high to work from. nice to see you are still making progress.

Drivesit: Good ideas but space is a little short. I do have the option of using the Kobota with a pallet on the forks.

Finished up the wiring on the storage side and wired 2 more lights on the shop side.

Gutter guys showed up today. They had the job done at lunchtime. It's neat to watch the machine spit out the gutters.

Moved a few pieces in last weekend. Wiring and shelves are done.

Trench for powerline is tomorrow with cable being laid next day. Got fingers crossed. Have a little snow in the forecast.

Good progress today. Got the trench dug. lined it with stone dust. put the conduit in and the transformer pad. Got some seat time on the Kubota. Power Co. comes tomorrow for hookup.

Insulation guys showed this afternoon to do the shop ceiling.

Ended the day with some snow.

Clipped: just in time. nicely done as per usual. i like that steel table. is that 2 inch steel plate? nice that it's open so your tool boxes can fit under it.

good luck with the electrical hook up, but if you have people working on it that are half as good at their job as the guys that built your garage it should be a piece of cake.

Drivesit: The bench is 2" maple (a hand me down ).
It's 14 degrees at 08:30. Power Co should be here at 09:30. I get to back fill with rock dust and then dirt after they lay the cable.

WE HAVE POWER. The power Co. showed up at 10:00 and finished before 2:00.
My part was to put 25 tons of rock dust over the cable then to backfill the trench. More Kobota seat time. I will finish the final grade in the spring.

Push a button and the doors open. Great!

Bib: Power is nice. If I have to flush I still have to go the house other wise I water the grass.

Drivesit: I can get Wi-Fi from the house. No cable around here plus believe or not we don't watch TV

Gbum: The voltage is 220V single phase. A lot of the higher amperage equipment uses 220V. Three phase is used on really heavy stuff.

WE HAVE HEAT. Filled the system on Thursday and corrected wiring error made by electrician.
Went to PA Farm Show on friday. Big disappointment, very little equipment. I guess things change, I have'n been since the early 70's.

Turned system on at 1:30 PM Saturday and set it for 54 degrees.
Went down this morning and was greeted with a warm shop. Spent 7 hours there and heat did not come on once. Outside temp was 30 degrees with no sun. A warm floor sure is nice.

are you trying to buy used or new farm type equipment? check online to see where the auctions are because somebody is selling that stuff and probably more likely somebody with a good web site. some of our old auctions we used to go to or buy from have went out of business or they don't have much any more. some quit do to the economy a few years ago, some retired and some just don't have an online presence.

Drivesit: Being an old farmboy I just like to look at the latest ag equipment. As for the the auction business it is strong in this area. We find lots of goodies and have fun too.

Used the lift for the first time yesterday. Did some service on the plow Jeep. Sure is nice to have power and heat.

Today I moved some toolboxes, benchs and my over 300lb drill press. The loader makes life easier. Next will be the air compressor.

Clipped, you've certainly built a shop to be proud of! I'm a volunteer firefighter and I also volunteer in the restoration shop of the Nassau County Fire Museum here on Long Island, NY. The little Jeep FC is an interesting and rare rig-how big is the pump? Also, in the first pic on this thread, what looks like a small hose car is shown-could you tell me a bit about that? Maybe a picture?

Tombell: Thanks for the kind words. I believe the firetruck had a Hale high pressure booster pump. It was missing when I got the truck. It has fog nozzles on both reels and a 250 gal. tank. I think it was owned by the Beachwood NJ fire Co. at one time. It is simular to the 64 Worlds Fair trucks.

The vehicle in the foreground of the photo is a 1955 Toro General golf course tractor.

Bigblock: Thanks. Sorry I don't have plans. The builder and I sat down together and worked it out. He did have basic drawings for the inspector. Window and door placement was done as they were building. If you have specific questions I will try to help.

Clipped: is the tractor on the trailer in your driveway a project for the new garage you've had for a while or is it already restored.

I'm probably going to have to move out of the city if i want a BIG shop, but if still in our county building plans have to be submitted with structural, drainage, and maybe half dozen other guy's stamp on them. we could build a small garage for the cost of permits and fees.

also building in the country like you have i wouldn't hear excuses (which are real) that TRAFFIC is bad today and that's why i'm an hour late or more. all the guys working on your garage seem to have been very professional and except for the electrician's error i didn't hear of any other issues.

just curious if your cement floor is still crack free? must be nice to have heat in the floor and something i've never had or even experienced.
