That is a sweet unit !!! We don't make wet bales so we wouldn't use it much. We have a neighbor that makes all his alfalfa as wet bales and has a fancy Claas baler that has a wrapper on the back of it. Spendy unit but works well !!

As far as battery lawn mowers.... EGO 56 volt mowers work awesome, EGO leaf blower also awesome.

Never heard of EGO stuff. I looked it up and seems like they've been around for a while !!

Lots going on indeed. I hope I do not go insane this summer with all that is going on. We're going camping this coming weekend and I am REALLY looking forward to some time where the most stressful thing is wondering if the beer is cold. Gosh I'm excited for that !!!

Most mechanics drive junk because they don't want to fix their stuff up. I guess as an IT guy I have a hodge podge of stuff that works but is mostly oudated and a lot of it is preowned lol. It's all good though. I'm stoked to have fiber run between all the buildings !!

Another new toy ?!?!?!??!?


Nope. The local phone company guys came out today to run a 12 fiber line and a flooded Cat6 from the pump house to steer barn and then to the chicken barn. Whoo Hoo !!


They dug out and found a few other things underground so I asked them to leave the hole open so the electrician doesn't have to redig it to find stuff back again. The orange stakes mark the pipes underground.


They **** up my nicely coming in grass but tis the price of progress I guess ....


They used some scraps to do the fiber runs and had a BUNCH left at the end of a roll and here it lays until they come back tomorrow.

This is the stuff they burry along the road to get it to our houses so I'd imagine it's decent stuff. I don't care I guess. For what they are going to charge me to do this there is no way I could say no !!!

The presented a standard cable joint box and he says in very broken old Italian english....."No No No, dis one for da big blue cable" and makes his fingers show a circle about 1.5" in diameter....he had dug up a major optic fiber (govt. main) cable that passed under his property. We followed him out of the store and were headed in the same direction. By the time he got back to the farm there were about 50 contractors with a lot of very big equipment digging a very big hole. The next morning they were still working on repairing the fiber.

I'm not worried about it. The ground under it is packed so hard the mini-ex was lifting up when I was digging in. It's packed really well down there. As far as sealing it, Mama Bear has some stuff they use at work that will bond literally anything to anything and when she showed it to our builder he said "Ooooo !! I've heard about this stuff !!" So I think they've got it all worked out.

Trying to get my time in at the off the farm job is getting harder and harder every week it seems as I really want to stay around here and do stuff but that doesn't keep the banker man happy. Back home Sunday and it's time to bale !!


I am blown away at how well this baler works. Windrows that barely fit under the tractor and it eats them at 6mph without issue. Crazy !!


The picture doesn't do this justice at all. The baler was sinking in 10" in spots and I could see the ground shaking when I opened the gate to let the bale out. Nuts !!

Pops went out with the 7630 and a 3pt hitch mounted bale carrier to get them out of the wettest areas.

Since I was loading them up to be brought across the creek I only loaded one layer on the trailers. 16 bales at a time is still moving right along.

Man that sure is a different style of camping than what we are used to here. Here the campgrounds are mostly heavily wooded so there is some trees/bush between campsites.

The 7630 worked great to carry the bales out !! Pops drove over the ruts I made with the baler and leveled it all back out. I think a more appropriately sized tractor would have made more ruts so it turned out well. Plus, that was the smallest tractor we have that wasn't hooked to the baler and didn't have a loader


We were on the outside edge of the campground so there were less trees and such. This is a fairly open place though, you can see from one end to the other .... for the most part. We've been to campgrounds like you describe where there is no open space and your site is carved out of the trees, bushes and bugs. They are nice as well though !!!

The big square baler is still around. We're tossing up selling it but are not sure yet.

My BIL bought some corn straw and wanted to borrow my spinner spreader so I got him all loaded up yesterday.


Then I got creative while hauling bales home from the meadow



Look at that nice stack of three bales .....


Gosh works great !! The strap holds the top bale from falling between the upright posts so I can haul *** while hauling three bales at once !! 2,700lbs of hay up there and it didn't hardly notice. I really enjoy using this skiddy !!!



We had a customer use only a partial tote of soybeans so I set them on top of the grinder mixer and used the scale on it to weigh them. It worked very well !!

My **** cheeks clenched pretty tight when the baler broke though the sod and went down far enough to get mud inside the rim


When the baler sank away it threw all kinds of dirt clods on the tractor. Felt like I was getting pelted with little mud balls. At least it pulled though through !! I think I'll be putting the duals we have for the large square baler on the round baler. It'll keep it from sinking and dogging the tractor down so badly and it should carry better so it doesn't throw mud at me anymore !!


We were looking at the house the other day and a "little birdie" was walking on the ground in circles so I picked it up and held it for a bit. Little Man wanted to pet it so why not lol. I set it back down after a while and it flew away right away. Must have just been lost or something


More progress on the house !! Foam and pipes were put down yesterday.


They poured the house portion and inside the safe room today.

No worries !! I'll keep taking pictures. It's fun !! The shower wall was placed right away because it weighs ~3,000lbs and we couldn't figure out how to get it in there after the house was up and walls were in and it was the right time to put it in. So we dug a foundation and put it in right away I guess

We got the piece for almost nothing because we found it in their scrap yard. I don't think we're into it for over $100 with fuel and everything so far.

Think of it along the same lines as putting your tools in Husky boxes instead of wooden mismatched toolboxes. A regular wall would work fine but the granite chunk has a cool factor. The wooden boxes worked to store tools but the Husky boxes are a nicer. Plus the granite wall will help us stay organized vs a regular wall just like your Husky boxes vs the wooden ones. Okay, the analogy isn't perfect but it's the best I can do on a Monday morning !!

The tractor carried well but was sinking in quite a bit. I'm surprised it didn't drop like a rock and plant itself like a baler tree. Gotta see if it grows

We helped a neighbor unstuck his 7210r and 469 Deere a week or so ago from a meadow he should not have been in. It took a Deere 8640 4-wd and a Deere 8440 with LOTS of chains to get it to come out. Just a damn mess !!!!

Golden chicken eggs

If I find an egg in the chicken barn I think I'm gonna call it quits !! They're broilers, no eggs are suppose to come out of them ... just yummy chicken wings, legs, thighs and other tasty bits. Mmmmmmm .......

Things in the fields are not doing so well. We've had about 1.75" of rain in the last 2 MONTHS only so we'll be having the poorest year in a LONG time around here. I think we'll get enough grain corn to feed the steers this fall but I don't know yet. That'd be 50bu/a or so. I do not think we'll average over 100bu/a this year, not even close at this rate. Right now the corn is tasseling and starting to set cobs so if it doesn't rain a substantial amount very soon, and it doesn't look like it is going to, the fate of the fields will be sunk soon. It ***** but it's a risk we take every year the moment we say "Hey !!! Let's play farmer again this year and see what happens !!" Toss a few hundred grand into the ground and hope it isn't too hot, too cold, too dry, too lots of things. Well it's been too dry so far BUT we're no where even close to as bad off as some others in the Western US right now. Not much we can do but pray for rain ... for all of us !!!

Mama Bear and I went to a Colt Ford concert on our anniversary and we found a bunch of my co-workers there as well !! I had to show them all I knew how to drink Busch Lite and perhamps got a tid bit squirrely by the end of the evening. It's been a while since I've consumed so much of that delicious nectar and I felt rather squashy for the entirety of Sunday. Grrrrrrr ...... it's a reminder to not try to show EVERYONE how good I am not at drinking beer


The kiddos have been asking for a pet for a while and we decided to get them one. They've named it Tiffany. I told them we needed to go to breakfast at it's place and they gave me blank stares as if they were screaming "Dad, you're sooooooo bad at jokes"


Got stubborn weeds to kill ?? Let LeRoy add the product into your yard sprayer. We figured a double rate should toast things quite nicely and we were right !!


On Sunday Pops and I brought the tractor shelves and tractors over to the shoffice. The little ones were a mess so I took them all out and sorted through them.


It didn't take long and I had them all back in line again !!


Boy oh boy this looks fantastic !! I love it !!


The dirtwork guys took a bit much out around the house when the leveled off after they got the foundation poured so we brought some fill in. I think we brought 4 loads back and called it quits. It was crazy hot and I was sick of peeling my shirt off myself. Yuck.


We weighed the largest 3 pens of steers to see where they were and I was very happy to see a bunch of them were averaging over 4lbs/day of gain since the last weigh in over 3 months ago !!


Looks like the National Guard is out and about for some reason. There was a bunch of helicopters that flew by over the course of a few hours. It was pretty neat !!


We got all the test plot signs up a few days back. It was a tremendous amount of work but turned out pretty nice


I decided to carry the last bale home from a meadow I baled one evening last week and forgot to wrap it before kicking it out

I may have showed this off before but I bought a cheap cheap cheap foam cannon deal off Amazon and it works er'ma'gaswh so very well !!! I put straight Dawn dish soap in it and it makes foam like crazy !!

Mama Bear and I were wondering around down at the granite boneyard again and found some rotten bags of 4x4x2 granite pavers !! Time to get creative on how to get them all home.

it hasn’t rained here in a while either so maybe you need to see how to use water from wet areas of fields to dry ones if possible or do you own one of those huge sprinklers.
I bet new phone or internet lines into your buildings is like heaven with your tech knowledge so don’t have too much fun while you wire up the farm.
