I picked this up over the weekend, but after looking through this thread and not seeing another, I think this might be rarer than I thought! I found it in the '48 catalog so I know what goes in it, but not sure if they would be chromed or plain steel. Not that I have much of either, so I am looking to trade!

It is pretty beat up, but there was no way I was going to let that stay behind! Not for $5.

Outlaw asked if I could put up a pic of the inside, and well, here it is. It is pretty much like a Plomb of the same period, but as you can see, this one is pretty beat up, brazed and dirty. I am pretty sure that it was OD green of some sort, but it is rust and steel at this point.

Actually that's not that bad! Usually the walls looks like a drunkards walk. Those are pretty straight! I don't see anything I need would need to break out the flattening tongs for...

Thx BMW!

Something tells me that you have what I need to fill this box Rileysan and I have plenty of things to trade!

I don't think that will be a problem. I'll look ever the catalogs this week and see what's supposed to go in there.

FTR, I have only seen one other box like that - that was a picture sent to me by Mr. X after he found one on CL.

I'm not jealous. Nope! Not one bit!! !@#%!^!@#

Nice find BMW, they are a fairly rare box. Looks to be the 3/8" drive set, they came in pretty much all the same sizes as the Plomb versions did with a couple of exceptions. The boxes came painted both blue and green and also two different logos. Couple of pics of some of mine to show color and tool finish. the first example is a slightly used set like your box is.

Just a small find, but I've never come across one. A P&C utility knife. Still has the remnants of a P&C price tag and paper wrapped blades in the handle. Looks like it was $1.99 back in the day.

Found these for a dollar, 1/4 sockets. Is this the whole set?

Nice find, and a fantastic price!
Looks like the ‘48 catalog shows 9 sockets total. Two 8 point and seven hex.
The lack of chrome leads me to believe those to be wartime production.

Let me know if you’re interested in selling them.

Added a few P&C pieces to the stable today. DOE, DBE, and my first Metric (19mm) socket find. The Fleet socket also in the picture is metric as well (17mm).

I posted a little bit longer version of this on the Thorsen thread, and it implies the reader has some previous background with these companies, but in case it's of interest to anyone on this thread....
This is an excerpt from a 1934 Calif Tool catalog showing a Thorsen made exposed gear ratchet. The Thorsen exposed gear also appears in the General Tool 36 catalog. The 36 Woodbury despite having a huge P&C section including ratchets shows no exposed or "open gear" ratchet.

That shirt is super cool! Where did you find it ?

Hey Smoke. was at Hippo Hardware in Portland and was trying in vain to describe some piece of plumbing hardware and resorted to using one of their reference catalogs and saw a Marshall Wells Catalog(40M) on the shelf and took a quick peek to see what auto type tool companies they carried (P&C and SK). Later at home was wondering if I could snag the same cat. for cheap on ebay and when I did a search the shirt popped up ( I don't think "P&C' was even in the auction title ) it was cheap and I bought it.
