As I said in the GS thread, it sure would be big news to me, but this is the place to ask. Maybe Omt or Mr. X will know different.

I've never seen a 1/4" WF-6. I've seen them advertised, but like a lot of the 9/32" drive WF tools, I think the sellers made a mistake. Most people aren't aware there were 9/32" drive tools.

Most likely! I am trying to find the ad I saw. If I recall correctly, the seller was aware of 9/32 size tools and said it was not but I can’t find the ad now. Looks like 3 of the 9/32 wf6’s have sold on eBay in the past 2 months. Cheapest one was $99.95

In the lot of Plomb that I just sold off, there's an extension, I believe it is WF, that is 9/32 drive and 1/4" driver end. A 4" or 5" adapter extension to allow 1/4" sockets on a 9/32 drive tool.

The buyer is an avid poster here, he may shed some light on that when he gets them.

What a tease. No pics of said special tool? :)

I'm out of town for two days, I'll post a picture when I get back. I haven't packed them to ship yet. I checked them to see if they worked with my growing 1/4" drive set, and that extension had a 9/32 female end. but, the male end looked small, so checked it and it fit 1/4". Looked very carefully and it wasn't ground down as far as I could see. I didn't get my glasses, though.

I can grab pics when it makes it's way to South Dakota. Have to take a pic on the complete 11xx series pebble when it gets here anyways. [emoji3]

I have all the WF 9/32 drive tools and none of them have a 1/4 male end. An extension with a 9/32 female end and 1/4 male end would be totally useless and make the WF-8-S irrelevant.

As near as i can tell the plomb version is the same as williams version. I have the armstrong one and it is a bit different. Did plomb make them? Or did williams, or both?

Williams made it in 9/32 as well, but the 1/4 is pretty easy to find. The patent was issued to a wc kress in 1937, 2071543. Don't know if plomb uses same patent.

Wonder who made what? If Williams made them, it would not be the first time Williams made something for plomb as I believe they made a combo/ electronics wrench with inset logo that was discussed on here earlier this year ?

Fantastic collection rag! You are killing it for having been collecting for only a few years.

All others- wondering what sizes plomb made their midget wf6 spinner ? I know tin medic found one last year that was 9/32. That was upstaged by rag tops blast survivor tile... I believe plomb also made an even more rare 1/4 drive ? I swear one sold on eBay last year and that we had a discussion on here about it ? What say you knowledgeable experts?

WF-6 was only 9/32". As others have said, if described as 1/4", likely incorrect unless it had been ground down to 1/4" by a PO.

Picked up an 8" JPD-made Plombaloy in very good condition this morning at my Early Bird. January 1947.

Picked this up today:

5251 3/8's drive push through. No owners marks and only a bit of surface rust.

Also finished this set last night:

Is that a custom made spinner in the 3/8 drive set?

[emoji38] Roy and I x-posted, not surprisingly zeroing in on the same exact piece!!![emoji481]
Haha. It looks to be a newer style drive end by the looks of the forgeing with the tapers seen on the corners and from the round to flat areas. Looks very similar to what you would find at a 1/4 bit impact attachment.

Ironically, one of my winter projects is something similar, but New Britain. I have a complete midget set but the flex spinner has no handle. It was Pyroxalin and it totally disintegrated. I'd like to find something New Britain-y, like that Plomb driver handle, to keep it in the family, and stick the flex handle in it. I think it looks cool in that set.

Ha! It's newer. I had a dead screwdriver so I pulled the remains of the blade out and put a newer 3/8' anvil on it. The box is a random one I found last week and I put a new sticker I picked up on eBay. Plomb and some other companies never made a smaller 3/8's set so I put one together myself.

ALL: these Plvmb wrenches don't get my attention as much as the Pebble ones, but I can't say they are poor quality so I usually buy them if they are available without breaking the bank.

hammer just was cool and was part of the deal and not sure if it might be a PLOMB of PLVMB or some other brand, but i thought it was cool looking.

I usually am pretty picky about picking up Proto tools at estate sales but these were a little too nice to leave behind. I hoped that they would clean up well and I wasn’t disappointed.

Curious if anyone has ever found a 5211, 3/8 drive 11/32 12 pt socket? It is listed in catalog 18A, but isn't shown in 15A and by the time 19R was published it is marked through as discontinued. Even in 18A it isn't shown in any of the standard sets. I've never seen one in the wild or online.

...pretty picky about picking up Proto...
Go ahead and try to say that ten times fast! :)

...by the time 19R was published it is marked through as discontinued.
Just for thoroughness, it was discontinued in Catalog 19A, but they were handling WPB Limitation Order L-216 in the Price Lists at that time. They started striking things out in the actual catalog in 19R. Just in case you're wondering why certain particular standard 3/8-inch drive sockets were discontinued and not others, the sockets that were discontinued were all redundant to service openings available in sockets of 1/4-inch or 1/2-inch drive.
