Nice finds, Dave.

I don't recall seeing the Steeldraulic from Plomb before. I have a Herbrand and a Bonney.

What is the date code on the adjustable? (Near hanging hole.)
Thanks, Lugz. I did a brief search and couldnt find much on plomb steeldraulic pliers.

The adjustable code looks like M-4-7

I have a Herbrand and a Duro. Steeldraulic brakes were on early Pontiacs, about 1930-1932, possibly others like Oldsmobile, but I know Pontiacs. Rather limited application, and fairly rare, I would think. Much like the Huck brake of Chevrolet in the later 1930s. 1937 Chevrolet was a Huck brake.

Here are a few Plomb pieces I've run across lately, plus a Proto that is labeled just like I would expect a Plomb to be. I'm guessing that this must have been either an early transitional piece or maybe someone rebuilt the ratchet with a Proto rebuild kit?

@saukit a handful of WF pieces continued into the PROTO brand. I’ve got a 1/2” drive WF extention that’s PROTO marked. There’s a few other examples posted in this thread or over in the PROTO thread.
Nice find. (y)

I found this pencil in a toolbox I picked up a couple of weeks ago. I think they misspelled the word "PLOMB", and I wish it hadn't been sharpened down so much!

P.S. I do know about Plumb hammers.

I picked up this old beauty yesterday, and since we put all of the Plomb misc. in this thread, I figured I would show it here:

51516188317_58e9a569cc_b.jpg
It is missing the 7/16 and 1/2 sockets, the breaker bar (although it still has the tommy bar), and a long extension. So, if any of you have these, I would love to work a deal.

It does have what appears to be a period sticker of label attached to the outside, although I cannot read much of it:

About the only thing I can make out is the word Wards near the bottom, so just before it must be Montgomery. If anyone can make out anything else, I would love to hear it.

I think I see "KIT" and "ATTACHMENTS". You might be able to find some old trade mag ads that include the same marketing.

I think they misspelled the word "PLOMB"
Snerk. That pencil is actually a good illustration of just how flagrantly Plomb infringed on their trademark. The name was bad enough. As I have said before in the 'Lawsuits' thread, imagine what Plumb thought when Plomb incorporated plumb bob o's into their logo in the mid 1930's!

Hi all! Great finds lately! I found some P&C pebble at the flea this morning! Ill leave this little snippet here for a bit to see who can guess what it is and post my haul later tonight.

That's the 3/8 set. Note the oval race track head ratchet. The 1/2" set had a pear head ratchet and more sockets, leather handle.

Hmm. That's a quizzler. I think the only P&C pebble logo we have seen so far has been in the middle of a 4-way lug wrench. I'm going with puller crossarm or yoke only because it's the widest surfaces I can think of, but thinking it's probably not right. The outline ridge seems like it wants to echo something of that shape which is eluding me. All that smoke you see is coming out of the ears of the PNW members hard at work on this one, but you'd probably get more guessers if you posted it in the actual P&C thread.

That would be a better place...duh. Ill do that after work. I have a 4way with oevvle and I know one of the 1/4 rats has some pebble. I think I had a proto LA style with pebble as well.... But other than that.... This is a first for me. A clue...

Heck of a find. Certainly not common. I am super jelous, I need a 3/8 set and then I will have all 3 drive sizes :) I checked to see if I had those sockets or hinge handle...I would have put them in the trade pile just becasue you are closer than I am but alas, I only have a 3/8 ratchet and thats it.... I would recommend asking on the speedmaster thread as well! I will bump that thread now so you can see it.

The Plomb haul from a couple of days ago...

20210924_100359.jpg

This may be a GJ boo-boo (couldn't find a clear answer in the usual locations), but I know myself and several others are trying to complete Plomb sets (wrenches, sockets)... while also accruing doubles and triples of particular sizes.

Have we ever tried a swap thread? (Feel free to let me know if I'm crossing some sort of line here... I'll happily delete and slink back to my corner)

Best regards,
John

I’ve been thinking the same thing. My drawer of doubles is overflowing. I’d rather trade them than sell them.

There is an old Who Wants What thread somewhere, maybe resurrect that format?
