Thank you. I chipped that hard old paint off with a razor blade and then used a fine wire wheel on a grinder to take the last of it off of the shank. The handle had crumbling 'skin', so I wet sanded that, followed by a little 3M rubbing compound. I'm not usually that aggressive, but that paint was very hard (and very ugly). I did a little bit of the sanding with the shank stuck in the drill press chuck.
These are all marked PLVMB on the handles, except for the #3 (9686), which is marked on the shank. Is that an early/late difference?

I'm also wondering if the lack of a (painted) groove around the handle indicates early/late. The two up top don't have the groove. EDIT-- those two are marked <P&C>, not PLVMB.
That stubby Phillips is #9671.
I think this was the latest handle iteration.
All of the Phillips tips are in fairly good shape, except for the big 9688. Someone butchered that one.
