I bought this Plomb WF-7 9/32” flex handle from an eBay seller, mostly for the crossbar. I’ll be using the flex handle for trade bait. It’s a little unusual to see a chrome plated WF tool but I’m no WF expert, never having jumped into that rabbit hole. IMG_2717.jpegIMG_8694.png

Are those crossbars interchangeable with non-WF plomb’s?

Are you sure that's chrome? It looks duller than that. The cross bar is obviously chrome. Is there any indication that the cross bar was made by Plomb?

I'm pretty sure I have WF wrenches with plating like that hinge handle. Cadmium, maybe?

The WF 84 wrench second from the bottom is chrome plated. The quality seems very good. The plating is thin on the rest of them.

I see now that Don's hinge handle has shiny chrome showing above the knurling. The closeup photo is what had me wondering.

I'd forgotten about the chrome one I had, until I went up to snap photos of them.

I don’t believe that crossbar is original to the flex handle. The flex handle has the ball and spring designed to be used with a grooved crossbar.IMG_2732.jpeg

Defiinitely chrome plated. The two large sockets are cad and the ugly littler one may be plain steel. IMG_2730.jpegIMG_2731.jpeg

I’m still waiting for one to turn up on my Doorstep. 😳
beatcad sent me an upgrade for my Plomb based GMTK. IMG_2636.jpeg

Here is another example of the difficulty identifying Chrome plated vs plain polished steel when it comes to Plomb tools. I had a very similar looking wrench in my Plomb based GMTK. When I did a close comparison I could see that the outer ends of the wrench were much more polished on the DB marked Chrome plated wrench rather than the residual grind marks on my new wartime plain steel wrench. I think those rubbery abrasive "wire" wheels make it harder to tell, because they polish the bare steel and thin what's left of plating.

I received this little wrench in the mail today from a generous GJ member. After I cleaned it up I discovered that it is the only one I‘ve run across with raised lettering. IMG_2470.jpegIMG_2471.jpeg
Here it is with some other 32xx series wrenches.IMG_2472.jpeg
In the same envelope I found this PWA-1453 center punch. The number doesn’t appear in my list of PWA tools. I didn’t see that size of center punch in the Plomb catalog I checked. I dressed it up and sharpened the tip. IMG_2467.jpeg

I don't know what this MAC tool originally was. Probably an inch more longer. The tip was chunky & jagged. Had a tough life. I put it in the lathe and gave it a good looking tip and polished it. It'll be a good center punch now

I picked up this 1/4 drive box today with a few of the more uncommon unique sockets in it. Paid $35 so definitely didn’t kill it but I haven’t come across these in the wild so I figured why not. Now I have to fill out the set. I think catfishdan had quite a time completing his? Box is greasy but is actually pretty decent. Has an honest look to it and won’t be repainted.IMG_8914.jpegIMG_8911.jpeg

Both Dan’s set and my set that includes the unusual 1/4” drive sockets go into a much larger box. IMG_3722.jpegIMG_3723.jpegIMG_4837.jpeg

Got this today.. it’s only the second one I’ve gotten with extra marks on the stamp3903EA1E-1C4F-4D29-A688-97B6A6B9D813.jpegC7245BFE-AECF-4E45-A5CC-CA8AF6A09A55.jpeg
The NAF wrench looks to be possibly from 1941. That’s one I don’t yet have in my NAF toolbox 😳Here is the listing for combo wrenches in the NAF catalog. I have the 11/16”, 13/16” and 15/16” so far.IMG_5372.jpeg

Ive seen sockets with an oval hole for holding the stem of a shock absorber while you spin the retaining nut, 1/4 drive seems a bit small for that application though.

I’ve got the same hammer, sans chip, that for years I thought was Snap-on because of the handle, but recently found was actually Bonney.

I forgot about the bigger box. Well it looks like I have my work cut out for me. If anyone has any of the sockets pictured in this box please pm me. Is this box a special 1/4 specific box or is it shared with 3/8 tools as well?

I picked this little box up last weekend at an auto swap, which surprisingly was missed by Smokeshow in his sweep of the tables:

It had a bunch of screw extracters in it, but only two of them were Plomb. Fortunately, I had all of the rest at home:

Too bad about the yellow spot, which also covers the bottom and one side. Not sure what I am going to do about that yet.
