I am!! Im working on it man!! I have about 250 pieces now I think. Not enough time off though!

Have you ever seen any wrenches with this gray coating on them ? that big lot I got 2 weeks ago has proved to be a pain in the ***. I soaked several wrenches for DAYS in acetone and it didn't dissolve it at all. Wire wheel is the only way to get it off.
That's Cadmium plating. Do not wire wheel it. Its poisonous / toxic.

This post is a little off the wall, but it is still about Plomb. I was off by 1 year on when my Dad was at Plomb. It was 1944-45. Attached is a referral letter for him from the Chief Engineer, and a picture of him at a family Open House in 1945. I can't read all of the badge, but the bulk oF it was "I AM THE ZEGUIDE SUPREME, EL SENOR GORDO"

These are still old pictures. It shows three more complete 1/2" sets, and two complete 3/4" sets that are in new red boxes. I have one old 3/4" box, I just haven't transferred the tools to it.

Posted this in another thread, thought I'd get a second opinion. Picked this up at an estate sale and it looks like it may be a Toolmobile, but I'm not sure.

Thanks!

I dug out my 1/4" sets tonight to get some pictures. This will take a couple of posts. After putting all of the sets back up, I noticed I had another box of 1/4" pieces. The open drawer shows the extra pieces I haven't done anything with yet. I also thought I got all of the 4751's into one picture, but I came across several more later. A couple of them have no markings at all, but they are otherwise identical to the ones marked 4751.

The gray box says "Bureau of Aeronautics US Navy". All parts except the ratchet are dual labeled with the Plomb number and the NAF number. The red box is the 4800 series, 9/32" drive.

Other stuff. The top shelf of the big tool box are the large Plomb parts that don't fit into any other drawers. The skinny picture of the garage wall shows some long speeders. The 3/4" box has three bags in it. On the left are all 32XX wrenches, in the middle are 33XX wrenches, and on the right are all A. Plomb. I ran out of room in my 9990 tool box.

Does anybody else think this is a tool mobile?? He says the drawers are not perforated but the reason I think it is a toolmobile is due to the side vents. To my knowledge, pressteel never made a roller with those vents? Both my pressteel lower rollers do not have those vents....We had so much amazing stuff posted I think this post got lost in the midst of everything

SK: thanks for posting a couple more pictures and loving the brass badge!!

OMT: great stories and tools. I'm thinking there are more than a few of us having PLVMBGASM today. post up more pictures and information as you have time IF you have any left. congrats on giving your dad's Plvmb tools to your nephew too.:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

JAMMER: i'd say it's not a Plvmb toolbox, but i'm far from the expert on Plvmb and i've yet to buy one of the old rollers.

The later non-embossed toolmobiles (at least my two) do not have perforated drawers. So maybe it is.

Who on earth would pay $55 for one adapter socket. That would be the guy who did not have that 1/4" drive part number.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/132133262041?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

That was pretty ********* :) I bid on it and tapped at $12..I thought that was a bit crazy... Then again I think you are slightly biased with your awesome collection that probably cost $5 due to location  (i.e. we are all super envious of your collections and by all means please keep posting!) I love seeing all the other collections because it means there are more people out there just like me

Eventually most of our collections will be for sale.

I have often thought about that... as my son grows up and we hunt tools together, he will slowly learn the value of my collection...of course I do use my collection to work with so it also has a working value. I have often thought about my collection being sold one day and that is why I usually don't buy items unless they are a good deal or I need them...i.e. as of late I have not been buying off ebay due to the crazy prices. But on the other hand, I don't mind the crazy prices when I am selling but I always price my stuff to family or gj members much less than when selling on the bay.

My 1" drive parts are buried at the front of my garage, which is covered up by the front of my car. I have not moved the car for 4 months, so when I took it out today I took a couple of pictures. One of the ratchets is a Proto, the other two are Plomb. Over time I will got shots of the other boxes/pieces.

Actually the car behind the valve spring tester is not the one that currently resides in the garage. This is the car I pulled out. I bought it brand new 53 years ago yesterday.

OMT: do you have a thread about that CAR. OMG you bought it new and it looks like that 50+ years later?

thanks again for sharing your Plvmb collection. also just FYI you might want to delete or edit your license plate showing on one picture cause i hear the bad guys (IDIOTS) like to find out where people live and that is one way to do so.

or if you are not worried cause you have a dog a shotgun and not enough ammo to fire off a warning shot i guess you'll be ok.

cheers

STEEL: i've got a few of those wrenches and not nearly as spiffed up and just sitting in a drawer and not on a VERY COOL DISPLAY PIECE. WELL DONE SIR

I saw the spring compressor in the other pictures and hoped you would take some other pictures. I love those things even though they are not used today !

The license plate is not real. A friend of mine is a sign painter, and he made that for me. I don't have a web page, but there are a lot of pictures of my car on my Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/jim.taylor.904750
