Here are the plomb bits I found today. A 3021, a 1125, 5428 and 5422-s square socket, and my second mysterious "S.R." Socket.

Not much Plomb, mostly Proto, but here's the last two days acquisitions. First lot of new Proto was $2.50 worth. The second lot, with the Plomb brake wrench, Proto yellow handles, small set of ignition pliers and adjustable was $5 worth.

I broke my normal pattern and bought the P&C wrench, I didn't have a 4" P&C.
Nice find Dave at an amazing price. Liking the Ford brake wrench and LA to boot.

Snagged one of those 4751 mini ratchets. It is tiny. Got a comparative shot with a few others. Blackhawk is only a bit longer, but heavier.

Hi all - this is a set of Plomb wrenches I scored from an awesome seller on eBay. These are mint and I had an opportunity to use them today since I’ve taken the week off and couldn’t be more pleased. There’s something pretty darn cool about using old tools. I have that same feeling when I have to throw something in one of my old vises.

If anyone has any Plomb ratchets and sockets they want to move, please let me know,

Those look great. Who was the eBay seller, if you don't mind mentioning him or her?

Also, that’s not how the shipper sent them. I received them with each wrench given special attention. I zipped them up like that because I have family flying in tomorrow for the holidays and needed to make quick work of some stuff in the house. My garage and workshop area are meticulous, but I haven’t found the proper place for these quite yet.

people that polish these tools, do they spay with a clear coat to prevent from rusting again? That's a good question there:thumbup:

I don’t believe that crystalmechanic uses clear coat on polished steel tools. He does use linseed oil and beeswax. Here is a picture of the sockets he sent me in April and the same sockets at the end of October. I haven’t added any preservative over that time period. It’s possible that they will eventually get rusty.

Those look great. He indicated he used beeswax on mine before he sent them over.

And there were 4. Picked up 2 more pebbles off of eBay and the very elusive 3062 that was last one that Stormking found so thought it was worth throwing the kitchen sink at.

Yeah, that makes sense. Maybe used for chiseling out the lead caulking used in cast iron sewer pipe connections.??????
Could be. Way way before my time. :)

My house was built in 1951 and has cast iron sewer pipes clearly visible in the crawl space. I really don’t need to own a tool for digging out the lead that holds pipe into the hubs. :)

This is NOT my house but here is the connection method they used to use before the Fernco no hub fittings came into use.

Anybody that really needs this little tool to complete your Plomb LA CAL collection :) is welcome to look at the pieces I have for sale in the Classified.

What part of the East Bay are you from. We are in Albany. We went to a Richmond estate sale this morning that had plenty of Proto LA and some Plomb.
The first picture is all of the tools from the Plomb empire. The next two are Proto LA followed by the Plomb. The punch roll cleaned up well and is a slightly newer engine version of the set on the right in the ‘48 catalog.

My mother was born in and grew up in Albany in the '50's, went to Albany High. She lived on the bay side of Albany hill.

Thanks, Smokeshow,
It looks like they will mostly clean up. I worked on the 1-1/4” a bit and it’s looking much better. There were also a couple of P&C pieces.
