I cleaned up a few more tools this afternoon and took a picture of some War Finish markings on 1/4” drive sockets.

Since it's been cold. I am resorting to other activities to help the collecting process such as updating my master spread sheet of all that is Plomb. I have a couple pieces that I can not find in any catalog. The engineer wrenches (single open end) and the impact 6 pts in both shallow and deep. Does anyone have a list of these that they would be willing to share. It would be much appreciated.

Looking for the following Plomb Pebbles Wrenches 3060, 3061, 3070

That wrench was so nice I just washed it in solvent and sprayed some brake cleaner on it. Here are some I cleaned up today that were in rough shape. I had to use evaporust on them.

Here's my 1945-48 Plomb 5265 3/8-Drive Flex-Head Handle. Cleaned her up from all the grime of yrs of use, and the head flexes smoothly.

Here is a 1/4” drive Plomb speeder I received from GJ member Shiftless, who I enjoyed meeting in person this afternoon. He has a fantastic vise collection.

GJ member Shiftless also brought me a 3/8” drive plain steel speeder that was perfect for my late war set. I had found a short one on eBay but this one fit just like it should.

Nice speeders ! They are looking right at home in that nice set! I myself am still looking for a 1/4 drive speeder and the extra long 3/8 drive speeder. I know I will eventually find them.

I’m glad that the speeder handles I had been storing in the top drawer of my chest with all my sockets and ratchet handles for so many years finally found a proper home. I may have a few more vises than I really need, but you have some amazing pieces stashed away in your garage too. Two cool old vehicles as well.
I enjoyed the tour and your kind hospitality. THANKS!

Also grabbed a wf83, a transition DBE and a 8160 DBE at the flea today. and a Craftsman 3/8 ratchet that wasnt marked as CM. the panel is smooth and blank.

That a good amount of Plomb nice finds. I am still looking for an 8161 DBE to finish off my offsets. You have to have quite a collection at the rate your picking stuff up. Do you have any group photos that we can drool over?

Found these laying in a tub from a scrap-tools vendor that is here every weekend almost. I can't imagine how long I've overlooked these being in his inventory. Most likely a long time.
Got everything for $12 and am happy.

First couple pics are before clean, the rest are after scrubbing in Purple Power.

The Plomb 4022 Screw's threads are pretty rough at one end and will need to be cleaned up somehow, maybe a thin file of some sort.

Man that is insane.

LOL it reminds me of being in public school when they'd have those assemblies about letting disease go without treatment, or addiction....

I see your pictures Ragtop and think to myself, "If I keep going without treatment, this is what I'm gonna look like in 20 years."

Sure that's not spreadsheets?

A rehab project arrived cheap from the bay today, shown with an 18"? amber handle I've been working on. Wet sanding with 2K grit while watching youtube seems to be working.

The 5249 has lots of nodules of really hard rust. the underside is a bit cleaner, and looks like it might have been plated. Didn't look plated in the auction pic ... I hope not, because I've no idea how I'd remove that from in between the pebbles.
The detent ball was sticky, but the ratchet action is perfect.

I recently acquired 2 Plomb 1/2” ratchets that were rather crusty and have been restoring them. A few minutes here, a few minutes there.

What should I use to lube the gear? I’m hesitant to use a 3-in-1 oil since those attract dust and will gum up, but I’ve heard marine grease will do the same thing. These will be used, not stored away to never see the light of day.

Thanks in advance!

Go to harbor freight and get “super lube”. It is American made and makes all my ratchets very smooth. It has a ton of other uses around the garage and home.

Wow! Plompire is not an understatement. Some of the members should be cautioned before viewing, lest they have a plomburism!

Rags! What everyone else said! I think it's funny how your last find (the softblow hammer) is on top of the pile, like when you started there was one thing, and every week you came home and just put things on the pile! Haha. I want to know what's on the bottom! (Not really... don't go digging... just kidding around...)

Thanks, Smokeshow69 - I appreciate it. Unfortunately, my local Home Depot doesn’t carry it and I don’t have a Harbor Freight near me. Would white lithium grease or dry graphite be an option?

This ratchet marked proto and bearing a WF-38 number is a bit of an oddity, yes?

A bit, yes. They're out there. I've got one in the drawer. Pretty cool.

I picked up this bar of rust at the flea last weekend. Was pretty sure it was Plomb. Cleaned up pretty well. Date code is EB? The repaired selector could stand to be replaced, but it works well enough.
