That is pretty interesting that the different branches used different tools. They can predate WF tools but usually not. They were both produced for different airborne branches of the military. NAF tools were made for the Navy. The wrench listing I posted was from 1944. Interestingly, the combo wrenches had their own numbers cast in whereas they apparently just used regular Plomb marked wrenches when it came to DBE wrenches.

I have an 8” Utica plomb and it’s not in very nice shape either. For whatever reason I haven’t seen many nice Utica made adjustable wrenches.
Hey I sent u a DM. Want to get one of thoseJust a heads up I made a run of these signs that are replicas of this famous photo. They are smaller than the original but are also much more obtainable for the average Joe. I will post them in the classifieds for a few days and then off to the bay. Head on over there if you are interested.
The signs have an unfair age advantage plus they are printed stickers, not original water slide
I only have a Bonney DOE and a Bonney DBE wrench. I can’t decipher my early rusty short DBE wrench. I know next to next to nothing about Bonney tools.BTW, are you aware of any NAF marked combo's that are pre-war? I took a quick look at some of my NAF stuff and there's pre-war double boxes, double open ends and sockets pre-war but all the combo's look to be wartime. Also what is the earliest "NAF" marked tool you're know of? I've seen a Mossberg ratchet that looked older and I have a NAF marked Mossberg flex socket but those are, to me, kind of hard to pin a date on.

that pebble set i got thats all original near perfect chrome, i actually got on facebook marketplace, believe it or not. i paid $100 for all of that with free shipping from new hampshire (i'm in california). i actually own dublicates of all that stuff already, but the chrome on it was so stupid nice, i didnt have a choice but to buy it. im a vintage engine builder by trade. i use almost exclusively plomb for work. that being said, i wont be using that set. its for display in my houseNAIL: filling up that restored box with some NOS Plvmb sounds nice. very cool finds!!! did you find in the wild or just pony up some hard earned green on an auction site?
Nice job on the polishing! I cheat and just use the meguires ultimate compound followed up with some wax.some random stuff i polished recently. all the stuff was really rusty. typically i dont do anything to my plomb tools and boxes unless they are totally roached. tool mobile was super faded and flat. on the other hand, i hit it with a mcguires cutting compound on a rotary prior to hand polishing with stage 7 show car glaze. really brought it to life.
I recognize that pencil holder. Here is mine at workAwesome pencil holder
Damn! I guess now I have to do that to my 1935 set!some random stuff i polished recently. all the stuff was really rusty. typically i dont do anything to my plomb tools and boxes unless they are totally roached. tool mobile was super faded and flat. on the other hand, i hit it with a mcguires cutting compound on a rotary prior to hand polishing with stage 7 show car glaze. really brought it to life.

Still cleaning up swapmeet finds. Last find of the swapmeet. Set of Tac tubing adapters- 1/4,3/8 and 1/2 drive. I got ‘em for $5
. Couldn’t say yes fast enough
I wish mine were in the metal box but for that price I wasn’t complaining for sure!Great price man, what a steal! I paid almost triple that each on the 1/2" and 3/8" ones I bought on ebay!
You draw a pretty good vacuum with that haul! What’s the story on the tools? Did the seller fill you in?
The seller is a collector too. He collected these for about 30 years. Now he's only keeping his snap on and high end tools. You draw a pretty good vacuum with that haul! What’s the story on the tools? Did the seller fill you in?
Nice collection all in one box. I wonder if the seller used to contribute to this forum?
No. The seller doesn't know about this forum but he knows a lot about plomb. He just retired recently and he is concentrating in other things.
