Digging in my 1/2" drive buckets looking for something, found this. Its age unknown to me.
Off topic. What would you call a 1/2" "sq. drive" shaft machined with 3 flats tobe chucked in a 1/2" drill?

So I'm in Portland for about another week. While I'm here If anyone has some older 20's / 30's unusual / rare / specialty P&C tools they'd like to trade let me know. Obviously condition is important. I'm NOT one of those guys who only trades duplicates. I can let the good stuff go but I'm looking for others that can too. I have higher end stuff than what is shown and tons of smaller size stuff too. I posted here because some advanced collectors I know run across rare P&C while out looking for Plomb. I'm packing up a lot of my higher end stuff and moving it out of state. PM me if interested. I don't need any common post Plomb acquisition stuff unless it is really unusual. PM please, don't want to clutter this site.

They can predate WF tools but usually not. They were both produced for different airborne branches of the military. NAF tools were made for the Navy. The wrench listing I posted was from 1944. Interestingly, the combo wrenches had their own numbers cast in whereas they apparently just used regular Plomb marked wrenches when it came to DBE wrenches.

That is pretty interesting that the different branches used different tools.

I couldn’t stand looking at that ugly adjustable wrench so I did some work on it today after it came out of the evaporust. It will serve as an adequate placeholder for the GMTK.

I have an 8” Utica plomb and it’s not in very nice shape either. For whatever reason I haven’t seen many nice Utica made adjustable wrenches.

Just a heads up I made a run of these signs that are replicas of this famous photo. They are smaller than the original but are also much more obtainable for the average Joe. I will post them in the classifieds for a few days and then off to the bay. Head on over there if you are interested.

That looks nicer than the one on my garage toolbox.AC34AAA5-C618-441B-A26E-826D912BE0E5.jpeg

The signs have an unfair age advantage plus they are printed stickers, not original water slide 😉👍. Your logo isn’t that bad considering it’s age👍. The box I took the sign picture in front of has virtually no logo whatsoever on its front and lead a hard life. Those original box logos or original signs and tool boards that have survived with decent to nice logos really are special! I had a bit of a personal internal battle as to whether I should make the signs or not. On one hand it will put more signs out there and may impact value of originals but on the other hand, it allows more folks to own something similar at a fraction of the cost for those who may never find an original or who want something smaller than the original. For that very reason I made them the size they are out of respect for the original ones so they can never be confused based off dimensions. Plus I made my signs out of plywood and a sticker whereas the originals are pressboard and are screen printed I believe.

Are those marks for wrenches you need or have?
At the time I marked the page, I was noting down the ones I had. I did it a few years ago so I’m sure it isn’t up to date. Here are a few smaller ones I took a picture of today.

Here are my three NAF marked combos together. 6CB364B1-2F12-4201-8FE3-265DF137B803.jpeg

BTW, are you aware of any NAF marked combo's that are pre-war? I took a quick look at some of my NAF stuff and there's pre-war double boxes, double open ends and sockets pre-war but all the combo's look to be wartime. Also what is the earliest "NAF" marked tool you're know of? I've seen a Mossberg ratchet that looked older and I have a NAF marked Mossberg flex socket but those are, to me, kind of hard to pin a date on.
I only have a Bonney DOE and a Bonney DBE wrench. I can’t decipher my early rusty short DBE wrench. I know next to next to nothing about Bonney tools.

Since I’m totally off topic here anyway, here are some NAF marked pliers from Crescent and Diamond. D6E73705-3A7D-4769-8862-3CD7FF4A86E7.jpeg

some random stuff i polished recently. all the stuff was really rusty. typically i dont do anything to my plomb tools and boxes unless they are totally roached. tool mobile was super faded and flat. on the other hand, i hit it with a mcguires cutting compound on a rotary prior to hand polishing with stage 7 show car glaze. really brought it to life.

NAIL: filling up that restored box with some NOS Plvmb sounds nice. very cool finds!!! did you find in the wild or just pony up some hard earned green on an auction site?
that pebble set i got thats all original near perfect chrome, i actually got on facebook marketplace, believe it or not. i paid $100 for all of that with free shipping from new hampshire (i'm in california). i actually own dublicates of all that stuff already, but the chrome on it was so stupid nice, i didnt have a choice but to buy it. im a vintage engine builder by trade. i use almost exclusively plomb for work. that being said, i wont be using that set. its for display in my house

Nice job on the polishing! I cheat and just use the meguires ultimate compound followed up with some wax.

Awesome pencil holder
I recognize that pencil holder. Here is mine at work🤩

Still cleaning up swapmeet finds. Last find of the swapmeet 😂. Set of Tac tubing adapters- 1/4,3/8 and 1/2 drive. I got ‘em for $5😂. Couldn’t say yes fast enough

Great price man, what a steal! I paid almost triple that each on the 1/2" and 3/8" ones I bought on ebay!

Nice collection all in one box. I wonder if the seller used to contribute to this forum?
These arrived in the mail yesterday destined for the Plomb based GMTK. Progress is being made, slowly.
