Glad everyone likes. I'd encourage anyone to make one, they are fun. But let's everyone drop the liability and injury concerns. This is GJ, everything thing we do, every tool we use, is dangerous if not used properly. I threw the crusher on here to show off and maybe inspire others, not get lectured. I thought I showed it to a bunch of cool like minded guys, not my darn mother.

Nice work! Can you post a video (here or on Youtube) - would be neat to see it in action. I have a human-arm-powered crusher and it can tiring after many cans.

SteveH-CO I expect better from a Colorado boy.... literally the first post.

I know you've seen them before but I think mine turned out cool. You can mount it to the wall or easily remove it and use it on a bench. I built a couple of prototypes before I got down to welding and cutting. Here a link to a video of it in action and how I made it.

Yeah Sed, theres a bunch of armchair OSHA wannabes around here. They get all worked up over some silly stuff sometimes.

Theses a video in the first post and here's a few more.

This last one highlights a problem and the fix I made.

When do we get a hydraulic version with even more crushing power? lol

EDIT - Someone really like diet dr pepper!

EDIT again... I noticed the cut in the top but then in your first videos it wasn't there. I was going to ask why until I noticed your last video... :)

I like it.

One question.

Would it be possible to plumb the air release muffler hole (when the plunger returns) with some copper line and route it towards the crushed can ? .... as the plunger raises and the air is released, it would blow the can off the base and drop into the bucket ?

Already been done brother FF. It's how I designed mine.

Thanks! You sure could, it's called air eject and lots of people on you tube have done it. Most have a shield on the front to direct the can and liquid splatter down into a recycle bin. That's a fine design, and one I considered, but it wouldn't work well with my design as when it's laid on a workbench and used the cans would be directed up.

I understand the latter part about the bench layout and I was thinking more if it was wall mounted.

I suppose I'll have to do some time on Youtube looking at can crushers...rabbit hole my day away.

You post on a public forum and expect everyone to agree with you? You got want you paid for!

Yes any tool can be dangerous if used improperly, but why not try just a little to make it as safe as possible? Is 15 bucks and a half hour of your time not worth it? Many times it not the trained operator that gets hurt but the young friends child or grandchild visiting and out of your sight for two minutes.

I myself am proud to harp on safety, if it prevents one lost finger it's worth it, even if that finger belongs to a fool.

Quit twisting my nuts. I put a damn sign on it, what more do you want? GTFO.

Does everything have to be about you?
From you, I want nothing. You have made up you mind; as has the boy with the seven year itch. My comments were really just to discourage others from using your pneumatic control scheme.

I am just hoping that if some one else decides to build one, and that's awesome, they actually know the dangers and it's not only themselves they are putting in harms way. Small children can't read stickers, but they are amazing climbers.
And therefore with a little bit extra time and money the can put in a second palm button so it takes two hands to operate, mitigating danger immensely.

Says the chump who's making everything about him! It's my thread not yours, so yes it's about me. I didn't ask your opinion, you offered it unsolicited. Further comment from you is not needed.

I did take some solicited advice and went with a larger hose. I got rid of the small fittings and used the larger "pro" grade ones from HF. I also got rid of my mufflers and used a much shorter 3/8" hose, so basically I did everything I could to increase flow. Unfortunately all those changes added zero additional crush power and didn't flatten the cans any measurable amount more. I'm going to bet that to get any flatter I'm going to need more PSI.
