I guess I was ahead of my time; I forged this little pry bar about 15 years ago from an old Allen wrench, 5/16” I think. About 5“ overall length, been handy over the years. The roughness is from the forging that I didn’t bother to clean up. Was finished on the belt sander. I don’t have a brightly colored handle though! 94C58CE2-432F-4AD7-8D82-90AE8C3B59DC.jpegFF9AE8E2-4D97-4162-9CF9-C235ACB07EF0.jpeg
That is a beauty.

I’ll wait for the Icon’s at 1/4 the price. Snap On’s gonna have to start offering complimentary reach arounds for the ridiculous prices they charge.

That's ok, more for me.

Speaking of which, thankfully my dealer was able to hold 2 of them for me, because he sold out almost immediately. But I got my straight and angled in green.

I have a couple of Wiha chip lifters, which I have used as tiny pry bars on occasion. I mainly use it when I'm running network cable. Once you separate the wires, these are great for pushing them into the block for punching down. The little notch at the tip is the perfect width. It works wonders in tight spaces.

You guys actually carry these in your pocket?

I carry a tweaker (small flat head) in my pocket daily at work. 99% of the time my tweaker is used for things other than flat head screws and usually is bent from using it as a pry bar. I'm going to give these a try, the thicker shank should hold up better. I wish they had them in power blue though I'll settle for black. Being a snapon my guy will warranty it for me when it looks like a banana or when I break the tip off. I'll ask him to stock some spare tips because I'm sure he'll be changing them out for me.

My driver hasn’t had them since the week they were released because they sold out and went on back order lol. I managed to get the last one it’s an orange straight one. I’m looking for him to get more in it’s so handy. People at the shop ask to borrow it constantly I’m the only one with one in my shop lol. It has several uses I sometimes think it’s going to snap but it never does. I can’t wait for him to get more I’ll probably own every color lol. Wish they would hurry up and release a power blue one or even pearl blue.

Dude.... you won't stop, so I will after this. Do a file test on the tip on a slotted screwdriver and then a pry bar. They will be vastly different.

A quality pry bar will be made from ~4140 and ~RC30 to preserve ductility. Even a decent quality screwdriver will be made of some CrVMo alloy and the tip will be >RC50. Why not just use a needle file? You can pry with it. What could go wrong?

Thank you for posting this. There are some idiots who never consider: “What could go wrong”?

Why not help others and post what it actually is.

Looks like a metal magery pry bar.

There are lots of those floating around. I've seen them under many different names and descriptions. The one pictured by lardy1 looks like just a generic version, no idea who the OEM is.

Snap On sells a Blue Point version, which I have and has been a useful tool for trim work and other prying jobs.

Let us know which one you like better when you get some pocket time with both.
Will do! Matco sells 3pc set (same as MAC i bet?) He only had one "set" left today out of many with one piece missing for a warranty. US made. SO looks good, not overpriced. Didn't sound too available. IDK will post back eventually.

I finally got my snapon straights in after ordering them in April. So far I'm a week into this hitch carrying it instead of normal tweaker (pocket screw driver). I used to carry the freebie snapons or a williams SDE53, they wouldn't last long before the blade was twisted or shaft bent. I carry a tweaker along with a couple other hand tools everywhere at work. It's sometimes a half an hour + trip across the mine to get to my tool box so the tools in my pocket get a lot of abuse before I head back for the right tool.

I'm impressed so far. Both the shaft and blade are still straight. I used it to pry the tabs up on a keg of grease the other day, usually I have to walk back to the shop for a real screwdriver, the pocket pry bar took it like a champ. After using it as a striking pry bar the blade hasn't shrunk into the handle any.

I'll report back after a while.

Mayhew has come out with a MiUSA 5.5" pocket prybar set for $25: https://mayhew.com/product/31092-2-pc-mini-pry-bar-set/

They look ok, those grooves in the handle look like a pain to keep gunk out of.

Here's one of the reasons to spend the $5 more for the snapon set if you have a good rep

WARRANTY

MayhewPro

If this Mayhew hand tool ever fails to provide complete satisfaction, it will be replaced free of charge. Return product to original retailer for replacement.

It's so much easier to walk on the truck and walk off with a new one. Trying to remember where I bought something, get a hold of an actual person there who can deal with the warranty is usually a pain.

After turning my Mayhew brass drift into a banana I went snapon, he will warranty it while Mayhew flat out says they won't. If you are a hobbyist without access to a truck and time to kill your results may be different.

Ordered a set of these back in July when it was listed as in stock on the website. After 2 weeks sent them an e-mail asking for an estimate shipping date. They said beginning of August. Nothing. Another E-mail... said beginning of September. Nothing. Another e-mail... Beginning of October. Let's see....

Lang Tools recently released a set that's made in the USA in orange.
Am looking forward to these hitting the shelves.

Was going to put an order for the Snap-ons in and they must not get a bulk shipping discount to pass onto customers. Heck I think the premium extends to the shipping costs for a modest order that should in theory fit in a USPS flat rate box. Maybe one of these days I'll find and chase down a truck.
