Cool design zman.
Really like the look of those carriage doors.
Definitely keep us up to date.

The carriage doors are more about budget and room for the lift as they don't interfere overhead. They'll be made out of some of the oak that was inside the barn.

So I stood up the 6x6's for the larger side of the barn yesterday.

And interconnected them this morning in the rain. Should be solid enough until I can get the roof on.

This week. I'll make sure the frame is solid then start putting a roof on her.

Noboday Care about your garage Zman.... Just Kidding!

What an awesome project I love the use of the 6x6's and the idea to keep and reclaim the wood as siding. 6.5 acres is a nice spread my friend.

Oh and I've got a couple Black snakes and one king snake on my property and it's only .5 acres. I hate them and am panic stricken by them.

Nobody but me. And this is the barn, the garages are under the house. :D

Got a piece of a wall framed, hoping to really get on it Thursday afternoon and get a few more and some roof joists...

Looking good brutha. I need to curtail my Bonnevail project and finish up some more barn stuff.

Thanks man, I've got a big pile of wood sitting there that I haven't been able to do anything with for a week, either weather or work. Hopefully the next couple of days I'll get an afternoon free.

This is like a HAMB garage thread, good to see it! The barn is coming along nicely, Zman.

What's the deal with that little attached "shed" and why did you leave it up and pour beside it, rather than dismantle and extend the slab? Is this so you don't need to permit stuff?

Like the work, can't wait to see more progress.

That section will be phase two, there are probably 6 motorcycles and some equipment stored in that shed while I do this part. I probably should have done it all in one fell swoop. Permits were initially a worry.

Getting ready to start the roof on this section. Then I can take down what's left of the old barn and do that section as well.

I've seen that Buick around town quite a bit, glad to see it belongs to a GJ member.

Lol, I have been trying to drive it a couple times a week. Drove it to coffee at Cup of Joe this morning. Though it's a tough choice these days, this one is a little faster...

I love these sort of projects. Its really starting to look like something special especially when you go back and look at the first couple of pictures you posted.

Actually got some help today and was able to start getting the roof joist up. If I get a couple decent days this week, it'll have a roof. 60+ hours at work have really slowed this down. But I need it done.

Zman, what's the deal with the garage door opening? Why didn't you run a beam? Looks like you've got considerable sagging going on.

Get at lot done this weekend?
**** it was only 106 degrees yesterday!

Lol, not at all. And putting those joists up solo is a PITA.

Zman, what's the deal with the garage door opening? Why didn't you run a beam? Looks like you've got considerable sagging going on.

The only two areas, that "look" like they are sagging are where I am putting the carriage doors, front and back. Those pieces were already warped so I put the warp down and have already jacked a piece underneath to take the warp back out. No beam in the center of this section as that's where the lift will be, unless you're talking about the door openings, well then I've covered that. I've thought about a LVL across to support the span of the roof. But I can always add that in after I get the rest of the joists up.

Scheduling help is has been a PITA. It's either 100+, raining, or can't find anyway. I'll probably work on it Wed. as it'll only be 93 out. I'm also scheduling a couple days mid week off to finish up enough to where I can empty what's left of the old barn and get that portion of the slab in.

Not to hijack, but I worked in the Slim-Jim plant just a few months before it blew up. The room I worked in was completely destroyed.
