PASS- 2lb cross peen, used in diesel shop and holding up to daily use/abuse.

PASS- extendable breaker bar 1/2" drive

PASS- nylon tool bag. Grandfather bought older style and used it for years before passing it down to me and I have basic hand tools in mine and use it daily, holding up very well

Great thread idea, I was thinking about this today at work :beer:

Nylon tool bag been using for 3 years- pass
3 pc yellow and black handle pry bars with metal striking ends, been using these 6 years- pass
1/2" power fist impact been using 3 years lots of power-pass

Bunch of wrench and socket holders that are all pass, I have a lot of other stuff I will add as I remember, most of the stuff is pass from PA, I just stay away from anything electric from there.


Oh also just remembered powerfist 1/2" impact sockets are awesome, 3/8" are onsale next week $5.99 a set I'm gonna pick them up

The good line right angle mini die grinder is a pass. Been using it almost 6 years daily as a mechanic.

Oh and the flex head ratchets with quick release are a pass. Used them about 5 years as my "don't care about ratchets" still going strong but now took them home and take them with me in my tool bag when I am driving any distance.

Pro-Point Universal Sockets: PASS
1/4" 5-14mm, skips 5.5mm. $15 shallow, $25 deep
3/8" 10-19mm, no skips. $20 shallow, $30 deep
1/2" 10-19mm, no skips. $25 shallow, $40 deep

Have them in 1/4" and 3/8", comes in a very nice blowmold case. Chrome is top notch, stampings are deep (sizes are stamped in mm, sae and e -torx, the brand is laser etched), and knurled near the drive end. I have no problems removing these sockets from my non quick release GearWrenchs or finger spinning with oily hands. They fit 10 kinds of fasteners due to their unique and patented offset spline design, where as my Mastercraft Maximum universal set only fit 6. I've even used them with impact drivers daily (12v and 18v 1/4" hex impacts) and they're still holding up (my 3/8" 10mm still fits metric and sae fasteners perfectly with no play). Made in Taiwan.

hope its better than the NOMA one I have for plugging in the truck's block heater. it promises flexible to -40 but anything below -20 and it's almost as stiff as rebar!

Broken too many 3/4 PA sockets in a short amount of time. Might work, might not, but not for the heavy use at all. I bought all Wright tools to replace my 3/4 set. It was a good upgrade.

I have that set as well. It's been very good to me as i use the sockets with a 3' breaker bar on my backhoe.

I would not pay the 130$ for it tho. I see it go on sale all the time for 69 bucks. I bought both metric and SAE.

PASS @ 69 bucks

FAIL @ 130$

Totally different thing I know but if it's as flexible as the "Tundra" air hose is I'd be very happy. I didn't know whether to believe the packaging for it either but it IS as advertised.

I originally bought this set to take apart a fingertip laser scanner at work. To dismantle this scanner, you need to take out 5 screws in 3 sizes, Torx 6, Torx 7 and a Phillips 0! All are in this kit for only $15.

It includes T4-T10 as well as T15 & T20, Phillips 000, 00, 0 and 1, as well as some small flat, hex and square bits.

I liked it so much, I bought one for my buddy who owns an auto repair shop (good for instrument clusters) and one for my home box.

Is any one familiar with the Pro-Point 7-1/4 in. metal cutting circular saw? They're on sale now for $150. I picked one up in the store to get a feel for it and was surprised at how heavy it is (16 lbs.). If it works well - fine. I'd hate to lug something that heavy around and find out it doesn't work well.

Another vote here for the aluminum race jack.

I use mine daily on my jeep and every other weekend I haul it to the track to change tires on my rally car.

It's been used for the last 4 years without any sign of giving up. Just make sure to keep everything greased and the screws all tight.

Not overly happy with the ones I have. At least one of the "outlets" on both of my cords is burned out (bad connection/arcing, not working anymore). The outlet end is really tight but they seem to burn out anyways, my guess is the plastic is tight, not the electrical contact.

I will be cutting that end off and replacing it...

It's ugly, heavy, loud, I can't speak to longevity yet, but for 150$ this thing has got the balls I needs to crack nuts.....

I have the metric set for 15 years and their 3/4 drive SAE impacts. I must admit I have mainly used them for removing axle nuts and for use in pressing in bushings in a 12 ton press. They have held up great, there is not a mark on them despite. Of course I am not using them in a truck shop all day every day but for what they cost on sale they are worth a try. I did buy a Proto ratchet in a pawn shop years ago and sold my original ratchet - there was nothing wrong with it I just wanted a Proto ratchet.

I ended up buying this metal cutting circular saw and meant to report back. It's definitely a PASS at the sale price of $150. I'd even say it is at the regular price $240 if you really need one. I have several other ways of cutting metal and I can't say I "needed" this. I can say however that I would pick this over some of the other tools I have, a portable band saw for example.

I had never used one so I didn't know what to expect. I first tried a cross cut on a piece of 2" x 6" x 0.120" wall steel tubing. I cut through one thickness of the steel first and was amazed at how effortless it was. The cut was clean (minor burrs) and straight. For my second cut I went through both thicknesses. It was as easy as cutting a 2" x 6" wooden stud. Like sawdust, you'll have to sweep up the metal chips. I have also cut 3/16" and 1/4" steel plate with no problems. The manual says that 1/4" is the maximum.

I have no complaints with the Pro-Point blade it came with but I'll likely replace it with a Freud blade when it starts to wear out.

Overall I'd give it a big :thumbup:

rascal - The metal saw above turns at 3,900 rpm. The rpm of my DeWalt circular saw is 5,800 which I think is typical for wood saws. I know others on here have used a metal cutting blade on a 7.25" wood saw with good results. I don't what thicknesses they are cutting so you may want to look into that. It should work though.

I have that metal shear from Princess Auto too and agree ... it works great. :thumbup:

LORDDiESEL - I waited for a sale too! I looked at them several times at the full price but had a hard time justifying it. I didn't hesitate when I saw it for the lower price. If you were about to start a project that involved a lot of cutting I could see going for it at full price.

My wife gave me a couple for Christmas last year. I cleaned and oiled them and I like the feel. I nicked one - need to be careful as they are not metal!

Princess Auto will have its illuminated magnifying lamps on sale from Aug 13th to the 25th for $45 (down from $70). I have one and they're great for old farts ... like me.
