Not sure if the product is a pass or fail, but the stickers attached are certainly a fail:

Pass: Power Fist hog ring pliers straight and bent.

These ones from Princess Auto are better than the ones I've had for years because they have springs that apply light pressure to the hog ring holding it in place as you maneuver it into position. Some times the straight ones are better, other times the bent ones are:

I've had them for a couple of months, I finally used them on the weekend.

I had these 2 pairs, one tiny, one regular size:

I didn't use either of the old ones. I think I'll keep the small pair though, I can see situations where they'll work when the larger ones won't.

This is a leaky *************. It leaked out of the gauge from about 30 days in. It auto turns off in 15 seconds, which finally pissed me off enough to throw it across the room and blow the gauge off. Even if it didn't leak, you cannot replace the battery in it. They failed to mention this on the box but have now corrected that.

It's ****. Do not buy it.

Another leaky *************. It leaked right from the start. The valve was so sticky at first that it wouldn't spring back. I was able to fix the sticky valve but not the leaks. At least the gauge doesn't turn off... :lol_hitti

I have one that doesn't leak at all. I use it frequently,... no problems. I'd say take it back and try another one, maybe you just got a bad one

Don't bother. I got one of the Canadian Tire ones when they were branded as Campbell Hausfeld instead of Mastercraft (same gun, different branding). It's junk. It was also on special for $7.99, and $7.99 is probably too much for it. I got a month out of it before the gauge suddenly decided to read 8 psi high across the range. It wasn't worth returning, so I took the gauge apart and bent the mechanism to reset the zero point. Many of the reviews mention gauge error problems.

I've been using it for a while now with no problems :dunno:

I bought both sets and I've used the metric set for some under dash work and have been very happy with them. I'm a weekend wrencher but I would certainly recommend them to anybody.

Very tough to beat this price in Canada at the retail level. About a month ago my local store marked each set down by about $5. Smokin' Deal! The last time I looked they only had the SAE sets left. Buy 'em while you can!

Cheers,

Rob

Thanks rob. Going to pick up a set. Funny, I couldn't find the metric set on the PA website.

Hey Rob, is the 10mm in that set longer than other sockets? I believe I might have the same set rebranded by Tech-Pro.

Great sockets, but they've become floppy over time.

Looks like the 13mm is the longest of the set. The 10,11 and 12mm are pretty darn close in length.

Rob, do you have the PA SKU for the metric set?

Sorry LD! You're about a week late for packaging data. I emptied my overflowing shop trash can last week. If I can dig up the receipt (it's gotta be around here somewhere !) I'll post up details.

Don't usually buy tools at Princess Auto/Powerfist unless its a really good deal.

3/8" dr speed handle,FAIL.
Bought on sale for like $12,brought it home, put it in my tool box, never used, month later took it out just to check it out,the free spinning handle just fell off/bearing fell out and went god knows where in my garage.
Took it back to warranty it,but turns out Princess Auto discontinued it,so they refunded me.

I got these ratchets as a gift from my aunt. They feel good in the hand, and the ratchet mech sounds and feels like good quality. Probably wouldn't have purchased them myself, but they are great for what they are.

Ratcheting 1/2in breaker, the ratcheting mech broke just trying to take off my van's wheel lugs. Exchanged for another, same thing. I might have gotten two lemons :dunno:

I have the mastercraft version.. the ratchet locked up the first week. I used it for like 2 years as a breaker bar, ended up exploding the head removing lugs on my truck. Warrentied it, been good so far...
Thinking it may be a design issue.

I'm headed up to Ottawa in June. Gotta start monitoring this thread in preparation for my PA side trip.

Has anyone tried the princess auto brand punches. They are on sale this week and are super cheap. I know they are not the quality of Mayhew but for the price I was wondering it it made sense to try them out.

Give them a try and let us know. In the back of my mind, all i can think is that they're made of cheese.

1/4 in. dr Nylon Composite Socket Rail (powerfist) -- pass

3/8 in. dr Nylon Composite Socket Rail (powerfist) -- pass

This big time, just re-did my box and bought 4 3/8's rails and 4 1/2's rails, then doctored them with rare earth magnets (sold at PA as well) notched and glued under them. Worked very well.

About time to add something to this thread.

I've broken 3 or 4 of those plastic water hose reels. Last week the handle to rewind my latest broke as I was rewinding the hose. Plastic does not like sitting all summer in the sun, where my hose sits. So it's time to try metal.

This hose cart had an odd suggestion of looping the hose over the reel to avoid kinks. I didn't like that, so I added the street elbow, 3 1/2" ****** and elbow. Those parts are visible in the second picture.

After that, pass.

Now that I've used this a few times, I'm kicking myself for not buying this type of reel earlier.

That's 100 feet of hose on there, my old plastic ones were full with that exact hose. If you have need for more (I don't) then this would fit the bill.

The rubber tires make it stay where you leave it. The plastic ones would slide and pull on the leader hose and/or tip over as you get to the end. So far the fitting that takes the motionless of the leader hose to the spinning of the hose on the reel is 100% drip free.

Princess Auto as my wife calls it the boys toy store. Never had any troubles with returns. Not the quality of Bosch etc but for the price works fine. If it uses a fuel or electricity for a power source, I would probably look elsewhere. I always check the flyer to see what new treasures are reduced.

I have a cart like this. How did you modify the water feed to it?

I have a cart like this. How did you modify the water feed to it?

See the silver coloured "T"? The brass fitting that the hose attached to was screwed directly into that. This required the hose to make a tight loop to the outer edge of the spool, then come back down to be wound onto the spool. I didn't like that tight loop, so I added the 90° street elbow, ****** and a 90° elbow (the brass pieces you can see) in between the "T" the hose fitting. Now the output of the cart is perfectly lined up with how you want the first piece of hose to hit the start of the spool. No tight curves in your hose.
