We decided to move 450 miles west and bought 5 acres with a mobile home on it. I lived there and started construction on a new house while my wife finished out her contract. Took 3 Uhaul trips, 2 trailers, and a towdolly to get everything moved.
The new house site was at the top of the hill above the old house...

The new house and garage...

I liquidated some of my toys before the move. The Shotrod sedan got parted out. Drivetrain went to a '57 Ford pickup and the guy that bought the rest had plans for a blown BBC gasser build.

'Ol Paint got sold...

As did the ******* Scrambler...

I sold a bunch of parts too. Still don't have a real shop yet so I've been working out of my dad's mostly. I'll be posting up some of what's been going down.

Like I said, I lost both shops in the move so most of my tools and equipment live in my dad's shop about 5 miles away. Not ideal but better than nothing. The garage attached to the house is actually pretty big at 30x36. There's enough room to Tetris 5 cars, 4 motorcycles, a 4 wheeler, and a bunch of misc. junk in there.

I also have some space in the unfinished basement for little projects.

I repurposed an unused armoire to store some woodworking tools and keep my rolling workbench down there. Also bought 1950 Atlas table saw and got it cleaned, trued, and tuned. Works really nice.

I still have the '35 pickup. It's safely stored in the corner of my garage, waiting in line for my brother to paint it.

Still have the Cutlass too.

It gets driven on occasion but mostly sits under a cover in the corner. I am gathering parts for the next phase though. Recently picked up Toronado 425 but it'll definitely need a different rearend and some transmission upgrades before it goes in.

Still have the 510 wagon too. I dug into it last winter with the intention of selling it in the spring but got busy with work so it's stalled out until this coming winter. It sat in my dad's barn for a few months and got filthy.

I got it cleaned up and buffed out. My brother painted the rear hatch for me.

Then I pulled the engine so I could tidy up and detail the engine bay. That's as far as I got.

Since I have a little more land to maintain now, I went looking for tools to make my life easier. Drove 600 miles for this little oddball. 1989 Yamaha ProHauler, AKA the BroHauler.

It ended up needing a complete brake replacement but ran okay. It's 2wd but has hi/lo range and a locking rear diff. They only made them for one year but most parts are from other models that had long production runs. Parts are available, you just need to be creative.

There is a small yard at the new house and a large yard at the bottom of the hill where we moved the old house out. Lots of trees -- almost a park. I had lawn/tree/garden stuff scattered all over so I decided to consolidate to make my life easier. I put together this little landscaping trailer so I could take everything with me.

There is lots of areas to trail ride near me so I picked up a TW200 and made the standard improvements such as racks, larger pegs, bar risers, and eventually a skid plate and better tires.

I had so much fun on it in the hills that I kept an eye out for a 2nd to be a loaner for when friends and family come to town.

The blue one was dubbed Rainbro Warrior until I refinished the plastics, recovered the seat, and got the racks powder coated. This one was pretty well sorted before I got it so I just caught up on the maintenance and added a skid plate.

The project I've been most dedicated to over the last few months has been my Chief. I always wanted a Gilroy Indian and had decided to set aside a small portion of the new house budget for one. The one I ended up buying is actually assembled from parts purchased at the bankruptcy liquidation many years ago. It wasn't finished until 2013 and had about 2000 miles when I bought it. It was mostly correct but needed some details straightened out. I like a project and the price was right so I dove in.

Most of the pieces were nickle and dime NOS from Ebay. Much of it was pretty cheap either because the seller wasn't sure what it was or it was just poorly listed and I found it by accident.

I put the tank emblems on, replaced the mirrors, found the proper derby cover, snagged some Indian script floorboards, and bought a new windshield which is still available from the original supplier. I also found an NOS air cleaner (spare) locally and bought an Indian accessory shift rod. The tank bra was to cover damaged paint and give me a pocket for registration and a tire gauge.
Later on I added some removable saddlebag mounts to hang some '40s replica bags. The bags were an Ebay score from a seller who didn't know what they were and I got them for about 1/3 retail. The backrest and luggage rack were actually for a Suzuki but were really affordable NIB and fits well.

I actually prefer it stripped down but I was outfitting it for a tour that I just got back from with a buddy.

And now it's up on blocks in the garage with new tires on order.

Remember my brother's '36 pickup from elsewhere in the thread? Well, it got wrecked about 3 years ago. My dad and I volunteered to get it back on the road so it became last winter's project.

It showed up with a partially assembled replacement frame and a pile of parts. We stripped the pickup down, built the new frame, and swapped the rearend, engine, and transmission.

Then reassembled it with a replacement fender and grille.

We loaded all the junk parts in the back and it's headed back to my brother on a trailer tomorrow morning.

Indian is still all apart. Taking the wheels and new tires over to get swapped over and balanced in about an hour.

My dad delivered the '36 back to my brother.

Then back hauled a '68 California Special that technically still belongs to my brother's ex father in law, but is being given to my nephew who is 16. No, it won't be his driver.

This thing needs a lot of cosmetic unfuck. My dad's winter checklist is just to get it driveable. It's been mostly sitting since the late 80s and was last registered in '97. Originally it was white with blue interior and looked something like this.

It was purchased new by my nephew's great grandmother and then his grandpa (her son) bought it a couple years later. His nephew really wanted it for a high school car in the 80s and that's when it got red paint, black interior, Centerlines, and a bunch of extra dash and door panel holes for a stereo. Shame, really.
Anyway, brakes check out good. Carb got rebuilt and will run on a bottle. Distributor weights got freed up. Oil got changed. New fuel tank, pump, and lines should be here next week.
It's likely that I won't really have much involvement in this one.

Never ran across your thread before. I love that Elco. My dad had a 64' for his daily when I was a kid. You even have the cool factory mag wheels?

Looking forward to your updates.

You got a great setup and LOTS of open space. Far different than Hillsboro! Hope you get the pickup running soon.

...and because I just can't ignore cheap parts...

So now I'm the proud owner of a 2nd Toronado drivetrain. This one is a 455, near as I can tell it's probably a '72. Not even sure it's got any core value until I open it up...some day. Maybe.

I'm probably an idiot.

As an Oldsmobile guy I support this. Plus now you can make a dual engine awd awesome hot rod.

Love the El Camino.

Really love the old chevy, I would lose the cap and paint the firewall but it’s still awesome as is.

Some Z projects...
My 1970 series 1. Got full mechanical restoration and was painted in my grandma's shop over Thanksgiving break with no heat. This was one of my brother's first completes. Sorry about the boat trailer wheels. It was all I could afford at the time. It sold to a guy in Mukelteo in '03. Saw it on CL a couple years later asking a bunch more than he'd paid for it. Looked exactly the same as when I sold it.

Mister Velocity, I somehow missed your thread all this time and when I started at the beginning, came across your Datsun 240Z with the very rare and undesirable Crager boat trailer wheels. Like you, I couldn't afford nice rims back in the mid '80s but wanted to upgrade my '72 Corvette to some trendy 16-inch rims. JC Whitney had them for I think $99 as well as tires to match for another $99. Back then I thought 265/50D16 PRO-TRAC +1 +2 LOW ANGLE tires would be great.

Didn't matter that they were Ford/Chevy Unilug rims that weren't anywhere near hub-centric. Didn't mater that they weighed about 100 pounds each. I put those tires on those rims with my mail-order Harbor Freight rubber mallet and thought they would fool people into believing I had sprung for big buck, properly fitted Centerlines. Got rid of those rims and tires in 2009 and the tires had almost an eighth mile of wear on them when the car was transported from old house to newer house.

I've driven the 510 a little since I moved it to my house.

I've been trying to get the maintenance and improvements don on the TW twins. White one got new Clarke tank, high mount fender, chain, bark busters, and fork service. Blue one got the same plus sprockets and a new clutch.

I finally got around to putting the original Muncie back in the Smell Camino. I'm selling all my MY6s (A833s).

And meanwhile, the new shop shuffles along.

Thanks guys. Lots of things are in a holding pattern right now. I bought a lift for the shop but haven't finished the install yet so no new photos.

Still have the 510? Do you know you may want for it?
I was actually working on it this morning. I had planned to put it up for sale about a month ago but the new carpet kit I'd ordered got delayed by 6 weeks. I should have all the loose ends wrapped up in 2-3 weeks.
Feel free to PM me about specifics if you're more than just casually curious.

Just stumbled on this thread, awesome awesome stuff! As a Western Idaho/Eastern Oregon boy, which show were you going to in Pendleton? i graduated from college in LaGrande and never heard of any good shows that way? I assume your most recent pics are somewhat near the Snake River but can't quite place your region of high desert.

Thanks for wading through all of it.
They have done a main street show in Pendleton for years but it's changed names and sponsorship several times.
Some is near the Snake and some near Owyhee Reservoir.
