Questions about Gladiator cabinets

I am in the market for cabinets for my garage and currently have my eye on Gladiator or possibly NewAge if the price is right. I'd be needing two tall, freestanding cabinets and two wall boxes.

Home Depot has the 36"W x 72"H x 18"D Gladiator RTA cabinets on sale right now for $209.30. My question is, are these "Ready-to-Assemble" series cabinets any less sturdy or lower quality than the "Premier" cabinets they offer? Also, is that a good deal? I know they're about $100 more at Sears right now. It looks like the only tall cabinets in the Premier line have casters on the bottom, which is nice, but means there's less room inside. Are any of these taller cabinets any less stable if I remove all but one high shelf? I will be wanting to store some taller items in one of the freestanding cabinets.

I was also looking to buy a couple of the Premier 30"x30" wall boxes. Looks like I just missed the sale at Sears. Is it safe to assume these will be back on sale in a month or two? Father's Day sale perhaps?

Any feedback is appreciated.

I have two of the 30x30 wall hanging Gladiator boxes in my garage. They seem pretty solid, and have a magnetic latch to hold the door closed. I picked them up from Sears when they were on sale last summer for $85 each.

I would imagine so. Just bought 2 of these http://www.sears.com/craftsman-2-pc...009CO75347112B?prdNo=4&blockNo=4&blockType=G4

Search their site, there's a $35 off $300 coupon there. Also, you get another 5% off if you use a Sears card. Some don't care for Craftsman merchandise. I like the color and love the Craftsman name.

It seems Sears has the 30" Gladiator cabinets for 99.00 every few months. I bought 6 for 99.00 each last December and 6 more last week at 99.00 each. These were the 30" Premier Gladiator cabinets that are ready to hang. Some of the cardboard boxes were pretty beat up and I was expecting the cabinets to be damaged but other than two minor dings they were all good to go. Quality of the cabinets themselves were excellent and the cabinets are sturdy.
Got two messages this morning that the 5 Gladiator cabinets I ordered last week were in (they had one in stock and I had to order 5). Went in after the store opened and after I scanned my receipt at the pick up area someone came out and said the cabinets were on back order so I had to cancel this order and re-order with a delivery date of 5-14-16. :dunno:

There is a high degree of certainty of another sale, when and the duration will be the unknown.

Either of the threads below will provide you a overview of past sale history.

The RTA series are bigger and less expensive but are not as strong as the "Premier" cabinets. Tall "Premier" cabinets and wall units are welded one-piece and square from the factory and are rated for more capacity. The casters make it easier to move the cabinets when you want to move them for cleaning or whatever. Sears routinely has the $99 30" Premier cabinets on sale so while you wait keep an eye out for the GearTrack sale for simple quick and adjustable ways to hang your 30" wall cabinets and hooks

Thanks for the feedback. Do you have any experience with the RTA cabinets? Is it difficult to get them good and square?

Either line of Gladiator is an overpriced, rectangular tin can.

Is there another brand you would recommend at the same or similar price point?

My experience is the RTA is smaller (28" vs 30" wall cabinets) and not nearly as sturdy. I bought several RTA first, since have bought the premium which are worth waiting for the sale.

They are not hard to assemble, but why bother...

No I can't. When I saw homeowner oriented garbage available at way too high of prices that pushed me over the edge to build my own cabinets and modify office cubicle overhead storage to use in my garage. The effort was worth it.

I have the tall Premiers on castors. Sure you lose some storage space, but the ability to easily move them while full is great. The 30" uppers always go on sale at Sears. Just sit back and wait.
