Hi all, first post here.

Closing on my first house here within the month. It's a new build, so brand new concrete in the garage. Nothing crazy like some of y'all garages here, a modest 20x19.

Been looking at Racedeck since pricing is within my budget, and there's no "hit or miss" with the local epoxy guys here. I do a lot of DIY work on my cars. Sometime this year I plan on dropping a transmission to replace a clutch and some other items while I'm in there.

So for those that do work on your cars, how has Racedeck held up? I do realize I might have to purchase some new jack stands with the "flat feet" to prevent cutting the tiles.

Also, my house faces south so there won't be too much direct sun in the garage. But should I worry about tile expansion? I was thinking about purchasing freeflow tiles to line the border and help with expansion.

My garage also has a "step" on the back wall. Any recommendations on how to "blend" the step into the rest of the Racedeck flooring?

Is there any need to wash the floor underneath the tile from time to time? If so, how do you all usually handle that?

Paint the step a color that matches or compliments the racedeck you use. Instead of buying new jack stands just get some thin, light weight fiber board/ply, etc. Cut to sizes you can use to set your jack stands or other equipment on. My floor has been down about six years. I've used jack stands, floor jacks, a motorcycle lift, & a quick jack on it without damage. I've never had to wash the floor under it, & when I move pieces the underlying floor is always clean. The tiles join tightly & little to nothing gets under them.

Color matched paint is the way to go. Would be happy to get you some samples of the different Diamond patterns. Just pm me your info

I'll comment from a new owner of Racedeck (nearly 9 months) with now having really cold and snowy winter to some pretty hot days in SE Pennsylvania. It has held up excellent and I have two lifts that get light work under them. I have a mix of freeflow and diamond with a small 12 square section of the carpeted tiles.

No complaints and the free flow works great for rain, slush and snow. I have not cleaned underneath and have occasionally swiffered the floor or quick sweep of the broom. The carpet tiles have been peeling the carpet off which I was warned of, so stay away from those unless you have them by an entry door into your house or similar. Mine is a detached garage and had them like a door mat and they weren't holding up to the water from snow and rain.

^ Thanks -

RaceDeck is used in so many types of garages and applications. Here are a few shots in RaceDeck in use! While we obviously think RaceDeck (modular garage flooring) is the best solution all-around durable and good looking garage floor, everybody has their own 'best floor' :)

We've had a RaceDeck floor down for about 2 years now. We are going to be doing a long term review on it in the next few months. It sees much use for a 3800lb car that gets puts on jackstands all the time. Multiple brake changes, oil changes, clutch jobs, spilled oil, rolling tool boxes, creepers, and etc.

Review teaser? Let's just say it's been doing quite well...... :bounce:

That's good to hear, do you have the regular diamond tiles?

Two garages, one two car that has a "coin" pattern, & a single with a shop area (maxes out to the same square footage as the two car) that has diamond. Both perform equally well.

Use the planning software on the vendors sites & plan a pattern that you really like. Then prepare yourself for years of comments & conversations about "how beautiful" your garage is......... I've probably sold as many floors as some of our vendors......they got the money, but I got the credit.....:)

Hey guys, first time posting here as well. I just re-did my garage and I'm looking at doing flooring for the first time. Standard two car, normal daily use. Is it better to go through the RD website or a member here? I'd like to price something out and finish my garage off.

I've had my Racedeck down for 9 years now in a 3 car garage, 2 car daily driver side and 1 car street/strip car. It has held up fantastic. And the customer service from Racedeck is awesome. My order was short one case of each color I ordered and when I called, they sent it out immediately.

I do a little wrenching in the garage, but mostly I do woodworking. I have had my Racedeck flooring for a few years and I love it. I have one tile I should replace, I dropped a rather heavy hunk of steel on the tiles and one corner of the steel screwed up one tile. I have a few extra tiles so I could replace it, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Not a big deal, you don't really notice it unless you are looking for it.

I've had my Racedeck down for either three or four years. I forget.

It's great, but not perfect. I use plywood under jackstands, and when I forget it does leave little dimples, but I'm not worried about it. It cleans up great. I get tons of compliments on it.

You can see it here:
https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=272225

I installed the tough shield and I love the glossy look. However beware. That glossy look can fade / flake or otherwise erode away. I think it is based on sunlight / uv exposure and not exposure to other elements. I don't always have my garage door closed, and I get some seriously full afternoon sun exposure. The first two row lost their shine and flaked off the coating in the first two years. Now the third row is starting to show signs.

The rest of the floor is great, and shows 100% no signs of this. In hindsight, I should have done regular racedeck for the first three rows and the tuff shield the rest of the way back. It does seem that this is purely cosmetic, the floor is still tight, interlocked, etc.

And, I'll say this about Jorgen and the culture he's built at Snap-Lock --- when I brought my issue up to Racedeck, they sent me new tiles almost immediately.

I still haven't replaced the tiles, because I'm afraid they will do it again. But I should. Maybe I'll do that tonight.

I think you'll love the racedeck floor if you decide to go that way.

or PM jorgen here. He posted above in the thread. He's responsive.

You'll love it once you get it installed

Do you have free flow or solid race deck tiles?

Hi Jorgen,
Long time lurker on this site, I plan on doing racedeck on my 2 car garage this fall. I am painting the walls this week and am super excited. My question are you guys going to have a Black Friday sale again this year? Your amazing product is slightly outside my budget but I think with a good sale price I could swing it.
Thanks to all the GJ members for your amazing inspiration and motivation to have a garage that makes me happy!

I thought about doing this to my garage as well, but kept reading tons of things about tile noise. Then read about underlayment. Will be curious OP to see your final product.

I have posted MANY pictures over the decade that I have owned Racedeck. Done all kinds of work on my cars, like pulling gearboxes, motors, etc. Restored 2 cars from frame up so far, currently doing a Mini. I have 2 lifts sitting on the Racedeck and the only issue is welding or plasma cutting on top of the tiles as it should be expected.

So I received my Racedeck a few weeks ago, but been so busy moving into the house I haven't had time to lay it down until today. Love it so far, I was actually surprised at how easy it is to slide my shelves across the floor. I thought I had to definitely take everything off and lift it.

I still need cut a few tiles to fill in the edges, but I'm liking it so far, we'll see how it does when I actually do some work on my cars. Also still need work on getting a lot of garage organization / storage...

Thanks to Racedeck and their team for the quick order and shipment!

Edit: Couldn't directly paste the pictures here? But heres the Imgur link.
