Re: Rick's Double Garage in Calgary, CAN
I am contemplating a mild makeover of my main wall in the garage. Just waiting for a few pieces to fall into place, and I'll begin the project. In the meantime, I've been reflecting on the changes that have occurred on that wall since we took possession back in November of 2010. I've been perusing old photos and thought I'd share a few to illustrate the progression this part of the garage has undergone over the 3 years.
Starting with pre-possession. Looking back, the state of the finishes in the garage were dreadful when we took possession. I've spent a lot of time, effort, and expense correcting and modifying the hack-job the builder did in there. This photo is obviously pre-drywall, but anyone who has followed this thread knows that considerable work was done by yours truly to finish off the walls.

This photo was taken approximately a year later. Note the flimsy piece of corrugated plastic I installed for my "mat station". Ugh.

This photo marks the beginning of my "painting stripes and pasting decals" obsession. I tried to get fancy with the stripes behind the clock, but the finished product looked like the national flag of some North African/Middle Eastern country. It had to go.

This is my favorite evolutionary step. Painting half the back wall dark grey and installing the TV really made a huge difference to me.

This is the most updated pic I could find. Gone are the decals. The 32" TV got an upgrade to a 42", and my detailing tools are at my disposal.

My plans are now to add some more cabinets, move the stripe up the wall, narrow it a bit and finish a 3' portion of the wall, above the concrete stem, with a white subway tile. I might do an accent stripe of stainless steel tile and I plan on using a dark grout. It should be a month-long project that will begin in a few weeks.
