Heres an interesting one. This is a 1931 dated F-70 3/8 ratchet, and after opening it to clean and lubricate it, I found what may be an early spring design. These are known to have an "S" shaped spring, however, a reference to a spring similar to the 2 piece "heart" spring is found in an early patent drawing, showing just one half of the heart style spring.
