Here is the Link to Pratt Read Distributor we had at GJ, He claims that PR made the Screwdriver Cushion Grips for Klein. You cant look at the Cushioned Grip Pratt Reads and tell me that they are not the OEM for the Kleins. After reading the Post it could be that they only make the Grips and not the Insert.

I am quite sure that klein makes their own screwdrivers/nutdrivers regardless of the similarity to Pratt Read... besides, is Ideal not a competitor to Klein? Imagine Pratt Read (now under Ideal) making screwdrivers for the competitor... I don't think so in this case. Besides, Klein's website does seem to indicate they have their own factory for these tools. I think the klein drivers of the past (with the older style rubber grips) were top notch.
Klein grip it screwdrivers are made in germany. They have carpet like texture on three sides similar to matcos. They are triangular shape. Come in 5 piece set #1 ph, #2 ph, cabinet slotted, medium slotted, large slotted. Both med slotted and large slotted have round shaft like others but with hex shank at handle for wrench to add additional torque.
Not cheapest site prolly but good for picture.

The tips are great super strong and bite as good as any. They are alittle on the short side except the large slotted is nice length.
Using as chisel driver is big no no. Handle material fairly soft, mushrooms under hammer strike on first blow.
As screwdriver they are great only complaint is wish #2 ph was inch longer. Also wish klein made matching #3 ph to make 6 pc set.
Oh and not to upset anyone, but Im not a fan of the round handle slide over cushion grip klein screw/nut drivers, not sure about the tips but handle with cushion seemed to slip and feel mushy under high torque. I do believe they handle hammer blows fairly well even as though they arent designed with full through shank.
Ideal didnt aquire Pratt Read till April of 2010, The Information i was quoting was from back in 2009 and from a Distributor of Pratt Read. Pratt Read is still a subsidiary of Ideal so its feasible they are still making the Handles for Klein. I fired a email off to Klein maybe they will shed some light.

Blue Dog, I tried the PB SWiss but couldn't get over the stink. What an olefactory overload. Kind of like going in the bathroom at a Texaco station.
I guess it's like a wife that nags at you all the time, i just tune it out with out ever thinking about it. Honestly, the smell debate over screwdrivers has become funny at this point, i even went to the garage and stuck a swiss driver right up my nose to see what everyone is complaining about, cut my nostril but did not smell a thing. Did i put the wrong end in my nose?

Monte, of all the drivers you displayed in your video, what is your go to driver?
WARNING! - This thread is dangerous. It has given me screwdriver envy and caused me to go buy a new set of Wera's based on lust alone! (Don't tell the wife)
How many girlfriend you have?
Monte, that last video just sold me on the "new" Wera chiseldrivers. When you say "new", how new are we talking? Are US retailers going to have these "new" drivers in stock or the "old" drivers.
Monte, the tool review hand model.
A girlfriend of mine just walked in as i watching Monte's video, she watched for 10 seconds or so, shook her head and walked away without saying a word.
Now i know how to shut her up. Thanks Monte, please post more ammunition for my cause.

Monte, now why did you have to go and post that video??? I had a perfectly nice set of chisel drivers that I loved. Now that I've seen the "new" version, I have to go buy this set when they become available......my wife isn't gonna be happy about this.....![]()
what are the new chisel drivers with the square drive on them called?
The new drivers were announced in june 2009 and should be available in the US soon (?) The part number for the new set is 932 S/6 I looked at chads + Amazon.com but didn´t see it, maybe email Chads and ask them about the new set ?
If you forget the hex bolster that your asking for, them try the Witte Pro Top Plus. You won't need the bolster with these. The grip you will get with these handles will negate the need for bolsters. The fit on the screwdrivers tips are next to none. NO camout.

Does the striking cap seem suitable or could you see a hammer starting to mushroom the cap, rendering the square drive useless?
This seems to be the second most loved screwdriver but they cannot be found
Where do you get them?
