Oh, real quick, I painted up brackets from the ugly handrail I took down inside. Using it as an extension cord holder

Sure wish my garage looked like that.Barely room enough to walk through.

Wow Girl that made a big difference to the garage. Very impressed with your work.
You are an Inspiration!

Of course it is a "Girls Garage"
OK I know I am now permanently banned from ever getting on the invitation list.
Actually I like the idea of using the paint drop cloths for a .... well curtains. But you are going to have to do something to the ends of the shelves by the door. Maybe pegboard or a solid side for attachment of stuff. If you leave the ends open all kinds of junk will get deposited there DAMHIK.

As for stuff getting put on the edges, I nearly had to beat my husband out of that habit for every garage shelf we've had. He pulls **** out of his car - travel mugs, drink cups, all kinds junk - and puts it on my shelf. I-R-R-I-T-A-T-E-S the fire out of me.
In that case, I recommend clear plexiglass, and keep it REALLY clean, so he can SEE there is a shelf there, but has a forcefield keeping him from putting anything on it...so you can IRRITATE THE FIRE out of him too. Hee hee.

Ok, the other curtain is hung. Not bad now that I can see the in their entirety.
I have to get serious about this corner once and for all

Why am I picturing a monkey trying to grab something on the other side of the zoo window??![]()

Fantastic progress Girl! but I'm seeing that empty upper wall, and the remaining plastic shelf, and thinking "All that could go on a high shelf and clear the shelf unit out, then put some hooks under it and hang that weed whacker whatever under the shelf horizontally?"
How tall is the ladder? Maybe move the brooms and rakes down and stand that ladder behind the rail for the garage door, near the opening?
<-- or -->

I've two ladders - a 6' folding and 8' telescoping.
I hoped to put up a good 10x12 shed outside for that shelf (yard products), the mower, weedeater, ladders and yard tools. But DH doesn't want one. He just sees their falling apart stage. We are at an impasse. So, the **** stays in the way. Of course, I can go forward and build the thing and be done with it. But I'm trying to be considerate

I mentioned a little bit ago that DH tossed the idea to build a carport off the side of the house that would include a yard room and a man door into the laundry room. While that would be great, I don't see it happening. First off, I'll have to do all that myself. No idea where to begin. Most trudgingly slow tiring researching part is the city ord/building codes/easements.
Anyway, that's kinda where that corner of the garage stands - a stand still
On that wall is where I'm planning to put the miter saw bench. And just in the last day or so I'm starting to think about converting my DP to the bench version. Maybe put it over there with the miter saw so I can keep the "makes, swarf/dust/chips/spirals machines on one side of the garage". Easier to contain & clean

Suggestion for better/neater more efficient storage: Those two bankers boxes you have on the top right? Buy more of them, and use them to contain a lot of the "loose junk" you have, They are easily labeled and organized, smaller stuff can be packed vertically the box with no danger of them falling off a shelf, and it keeps what is inside cleaner and the worst of the shop dust out, and it looks clean.
I have my back wall of my garage with shelves going from about 4 ft to the peak of the roof, and have the shelves built to allow no more than 2 of those boxes in a stack for misc household storage. it's been a great way to get things out of sight and out of mind until needed.
I use the clear plastic tubs so that I can see what's inside from the floor level. You can still label them and if you have several "Electrical" or "Plumbing" boxes you have a better chance of pulling the right one down.
Seriously... the garage is looking good.
Wow. I just finished reading all of this. I'm not even sure I know how to respond. Outstanding job on everything! You have surely inspired me to get off my **** and get to work cleaning my garage up!!! I keep making excuses why I don't, too hot, too much ****, nowhere to put anything, can't figure out how to build shelves, need a dumpster, etc. Seeing everything you've done has made me realize that I spend entirely too much time on the internet figuring out how to do stuff instead of just DOING IT!!!! LOL!
I'm subscribed so I can see how this turns out.
Finally, a BIG thanks to DH and YOU for his service/sacrifices and yours.
Jeff
no, you wouldn't be in trouble.. this garage is to suite your needs, not to compete with stereo typical garage definitions..So, would I be in trouble if I said wanted to clutter up my garage with a Smith machine and workout equipment??

I told DH and he says "where am I going to park my new car when I come back".
Uhhmm, I'll deal with that later lol
He won't care when he sees the brand new hot bod waiting for him!![]()

So, would I be in trouble if I said wanted to clutter up my garage with a Smith machine and workout equipment?? I miss having a home gym. I miss having a body that looks like I'm using my home gym lol I don't like going to these overpriced, overcrowded gyms. I prefer working out alone. I like getting the sweat out with an old school garage workout late a night like I use to do in my teens and college. Anyway, I had to confess.![]()
A Gym/Garage is the cat's meow! About a third of my garage is dedicated to work out gear. Except the treadmill, sigh I'm a bit lazy in that regard and want climate control, so it's in the basement. Where my 4 year old tries to pretend it's a cash register conveyor belt and insists on ringing up random toys for me to buy her and than letting them fly off of it lol
Great progress on the garage. Some of the smaller ideas are really BIG; like the rail holders for wrapping cord - genius.
As for that corner - you just need a garden shed and you'd be parking both your cars in there forever more!
When I'm lifting weights alone, I prefer the 'all in one' sort of machines (usually has 2 or 3 stations, with a column of weights in the center and cables/pulleys to attach to several different bars). I don't like lifting free weights without a spotter and these systems have an amazing number of exercises for the space they take up. They have a 'pro' version of one of these at the HOA gym, just a block from my house, and I like using it when I work out alone...
HA...I carried the bass drum in my senior year in high school.
Sooo...why don't you weld up something that will meet your needs.
But I did briefly consider it. Once I travel to get materials and do the work, I don't save too much over a decent used unit. It's one of those the cost is about a wash. Also it's HOT out there. I'd rather get it set up and workout than struggle through building it.Exercise equipment is very cheap in the secondary market. I go to a lot of auctions and they usually go for a price related to how much they weigh. Also the GOVDEALS auction site often has pro grade stuff from various schools for good prices (Nothing is good enough for the Jr. HS football team). Problem is it's a national site and so you have to be able to get it. Most do not ship stuff, but some do. The good will and thrift stores around here always seem to be brimming with stuff that often goes on sale for nearly nothing. That said, if you're looking for a particular machine, you may have to be patient. Having seen what the stuff sells for, I wouldn't even consider building one. BTW if you're in the Atlanta area I have a SU-2000 ("Seldom Used 2000") in my attic. Used it three times a week 'til I blew out my shoulder. Not so much now.
I think he's working the brownie point angle.
I believe you m ade your drawers from 16g, is that correct?
Using your bending/brake technique, do you feel that 18g in a smaller sized drawer would still be strong enough?
I ask because I need to fill up the upper small drawers of an old Mac box, and it seems I will need to make my own drawers.
Thanks
