For the price, the value of that box is unbeatable.

A similar sized toolbox from Snap-On would be in the THOUSANDS of $$$, and they do the same thing. Store your ****.

The choice is clear, and you chose wisely :)

has any one thought of just using 2 26 inch boxes?
I know its not perfect but will work and won't cost a $1000 or more either

I curious also....I have a single 26in craftsman stack and was tossing around the idea for a second 26in stack, but I like this HF box. I am curious how close the red colors are...I think 2 CM top boxes on this US Gen bottom would be cool.
OR US Gen had a 50ish inch top box, but it was the red crinkle finish.

I was thinking of adding another 26'' top box to mine to ''fill'' it out, but since it's not full, I'll put it off a while. My luck would be HF would offer a matching top box in a month after I did go that route.

I'm about to upgrade from a set of Craftsman 26" chest to either the HF 41" or this 56" piece. Almost picked up the Craftsman 23 drawer 52" set which appears to have been 50% off all year (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_009H0029000B?prdNo=20&blockNo=20&blockType=G20).

Anyways thanks for the review and I think I'm convinced this is the one for me. Issue is transportation, will this fit in a minivan without the 2nd or 3rd row seats (2000 Honda Odyssey)? Thanks

Doubt it, it was a touch higher than the roof line on my Superduty and took most of the bed with the tailgate up.Mine was crated still, by the way. It's a short bed truck, but I don't think a minivan will pull it off, unless you lay it over on it's side, and I'm still doubtful. It weighs around 500lbs+, and they loaded mine with a forklift.

And here's what happened

IMG_20111111_155340.jpg

Found an open box displayed at the front for $649 talked them down to $549. Normally I buy stuff new but it looked to be in good shape, a little dirty but drawers opened fine and thats all that really matters. Would have to open it anyways to fit in minivan so it worked out!

You'll like it. I like mine as it sits, I'd flat love the thing, if I could get a matching top. It'll be a while, haven't filled up what I got yet.

Can someone please tell me where can I find the 20 percent coupon that I can use on this tool cabinet. I will really appreciate the help.

I will be calling the HR store in the Seattle areas to see if they have it in stock.

Thank you, even $699 is better than nothing. I had been reading up on toolboxes for about a week and then I found this thread, needless to say the search has ended. Now just have to see if the local stores in my area carry it.

i just "visited" with a couple of tool boxes today and came away impressed...I am going to start a thread about my shop (in progress) soon, but i think i will be using a combination of the 56", 41" and 28" tool cabinets they have to make some "quick and dirty benches so I can move my stuff out of the house garage and storage room and get productive.. As a wood worker i usually look at toolboxes as things I can build, but really, when you consider the price of a pile of full extension drawer slides, the time and effort, the price of these boxes make them hard to beat.

ps, the 41" and 28" set are nice too, stay away from the black set that goes for $200 as it is junk.

I just got home with the 41" tool box from HF at $350. After comparing the prices, space in the garage, current tools and difference between the two boxes the smaller box was a better choice. I am no expert when it comes to build quality of the box but it sure does feel real sturdy at 300 lbs :).

I think it is the beginning of the end for the name brand truck companies, at least when it comes to tool boxes. I bought a Snap on box about 12 years ago at a steep discount as a technician apprentice. Compared to these new boxes by HF and other Chinese retailers I feel I got ripped off. Wish I could purchase all over again as I'd snap this unit in a second. But I can't justify purchasing again.

Should've used the coupon for $699.

That ended early December. I was lucky enough to get in on that one, but not everyone could do so.

*EDIT*

Just saw the post you made in the HF coupon thread:

$199, part of the hotrod mag toolbox sale. Also has the 56'' box for $699 on it and all of the rest of the 13 drawer roller cabinet add ons.

Can you scan that? What issue is it in? Is it still valid? I'm sure he'd rather use a $699 coupon.

Thank you!! :beer::thumbup:

I'll keep you guys posted. Should work just fine.

My first large tool box purchase. I always spend on tools and bypass a box...now after having 2 giant bosch tool bags and a 15 year old craftsman small box I need this.

thanks guys!

I own a 56" International. I'm glad I upgraded from a 42" 18" deep box to the 56" 24" deep box. Way more room. great work surface on top. I'm sure you'll be very happy, and post some pics.

One more thing:

I had an idea for the bottom corner deep drawer. Do you all think a filing cabinet organizer (folder/separators) would fit in there? It looks like it is a possibility. I won't know until I bring it home, but I thought I would ask for you who have it.

Attached an actual coupon from HF. GL guys.

HF699.jpg

I just noticed that is not the actual coupon. The "Print Coupon" button should take you to the actual coupon.

The coupon scanned and posted from the flyer will work, though.
