I spent some money on Anchorseal for the ends.

Actually going to not start the drying, as some turners prefer green material.

Especially with the Apple. Turns so smoothly when green. Gets quite hard as it dries.

Ordered a couple hundred stickers for the wood expo next month. Who doesn’t like free stickers?
I have that same knife. Like it so much that I just purchased another one.

Made a full day of prepping for the

Next weekend.

No milling, but did some slab flattening, planing, end-grain sealer, live edge sanding, organizing and such.

I’m concerned my angle iron ramps might slide around while working on a finished slab. They work fine in the gravel, but I don’t want them to slide off while loading a log in front of a couple hundred people.

I cut some crude notches so they grab the rail, and scribed the bottoms so they fit flat on the floor.

Going to take a few trips to get everything there. One load with the mill, then another with the log trailer full of slabs.

I’m sure hoping none of the wood comes back.

Being my first attempt at anything like this, I really have no idea of what to expect 😬

Sawmill and booth all set up. Got a pre show party tonight, just for vendors.

Fun day meeting other sawyers and craftsmen.

Paint the ends with a thick coat of Latex paint if they're going to sit for a while before getting them cut.
Pretty wet right now, have to wait a bit for that.

With the weather this past week I think the sap started flowing again.

How come you guys hauled the saws to the show. Were you doing custom cuts on your stock to sell or was this like a car show where ya’ll pop your hoods and talk about how fast to can cut a 1/4 cord?? 😉

It was great to meet you at the Expo. That's quite the set up you have, slices through those logs like it was nothing. Pretty good way to design your router sled to fit on your mill too. 👌

All show, no go😜

Demonstration only.

I hauled 2 logs back home as firewood.

Did have a great time, and met a ton of people.

Already signed up for next year 👍

Busy weekend, sawing logs, cleaning up the woodpiles, and getting a burn in.

I would like to see it after the planer? I have some boards cut from an apple tree, they are moving around a lot

Wasn’t paying attention to how the rope spooled up on the little winch. Got it all bound up between the spool and the housing.

Lost about 7’ of length, but it looks as good as the factory job😕

This afternoon’s CL posting:

Think I’ll get any responses?
You went out on a limb for that one huh 🤔

40yrs ago I did all the floor coating work at their plant. Man those were the days, they kept the break room frig stocked and no issues having a beer or ten on your break.

I love salvage.

Brought home these unistrut brackets. Already had the uprights, as I never let unistrut go in the dumpster. Going to make some nice slab storage!

But, first I had to demo some stairs, fix some rotted post bottoms, and haul in 3 tons of rock.

I still need to laser the brackets into level. Oh, and then paint the house😕
