Thanks Treeman,I enjoy your updates. Beautiful sawmill work. A few years ago I scoffed at the idea of battery chainsaws and some other tools. Not anymore. Thank you.
That is some nice looking cedar you are getting, some pieces look clear. That is not cheap to buy!

So, you just found out it's illegal to pull logs out of the sound ?Y’all like night fish’n, right?
My main duty as ramp manager is keeping the ramp clear, and available for use by the fine folks in my neighborhood. So, you just found out it's illegal to pull logs out of the sound ?
A kiln will happen at some point.Next he needs to buy/build a kiln. My neighbor at my first WA house built one in his garage out of 2x2 frame and OSB, about 14' x 4' x 4'. Fans on both ends moving air through. Heated by a couple of 100 watt incandescent lightbulbs.
I know a really good tile guy .A kiln will happen at some point.
After the septic re-do, new driveway, and detached garage. And of course momma’s little master bath remodel.

Too damned expensiveI know a really good tile guy .![]()
My dogs woke me at 4:00am-ish (eyes were still mostly shut). Walked outside to hurricane-like winds, pouring rain. After drying dogs off, I was up for the day. Tiring already (3:45pm). Might be a day for rare second round of coffee.Dang dogs woke me up early this morning.
So, I got an early start to picking up from yesterday.
Total yield from the 16 foot log was just under 200 BF. Had to cut it into 2 Eight footers to work around some waste
I was on my 3rd cup of coffee by 6:30 this morningMy dogs woke me at 4:00am-ish (eyes were still mostly shut). Walked outside to hurricane-like winds, pouring rain. After drying dogs off, I was up for the day. Tiring already (3:45pm). Might be a day for rare second round of coffee.
It took some gas to get it started. I had to feed it some dry framing scraps to keep it hot enough to burn the wet wood.Surprised it's not still waterlogged
That used to be the best part of being on a framing crew ..... Friday afternoon clean-up. Couple of 12-packs.Burning waste and drinking beer.
They’ve taken all the fun out of construction. That used to be the best part of being on a framing crew ..... Friday afternoon clean-up. Couple of 12-packs.
Ain’t that the damn truth. This past week was two paper cuts and a cussing incidence resulting in 6hours of reports for me. Oh, oh, oh....let’s not forget my one guy with a weak back calling off Tuesday/ Wednesday then Friday during a week I had double crewed a push week and all he had to do was unbox mutha fn cameras. They’ve taken all the fun out of construction.
No more beer and fires on job sites, no dogs running free, no more fist fights, no guns or knives allowed, no tank tops or cut-offs, no riding in the loader bucket or on the boom truck hook.
But at least we do get paid sensitivity training now!
Ya, not what I went into construction for.Ain’t that the damn truth. This past week was two paper cuts and a cussing incidence resulting in 6hours of reports for me. He throws it back in the water for others to find, those less fortunate, without a sawmill.Maybe I missed it earlier in this thread - what happens with all of the lumber you saw?
Highly recommend power washingWe have a stump from a cherry tree to slice up in the spring. I want to wait until the snow is gone and power wash it first.
Just banking it in the drying shed at this point.Maybe I missed it earlier in this thread - what happens with all of the lumber you saw?
Thanks Jay,I was thinking there might be some interesting figured grain near that trunk. You confirmed it.

Gonna try to send you a private message.Just banking it in the drying shed at this point.
How did you anchor the stump to the platform. That is what I want to do with the cherryPressure washing exposed some embedded rock!
After extraction, I made a platform for cutting shorts.
I then went on to discover gold!
Then I sat, and enjoyed my afternoon.

No hard work, it’s all fun!Riv, I knew you bought a sawmill but not sure how I missed this thread until now.
Looks like a lot of hard work and fun, interchangeable at times.
