The Milwaukee is a little ripper! Money well spent, as long as my ridiculously overpriced batteries stay in good working condition 🤔

I enjoy your updates. Beautiful sawmill work. A few years ago I scoffed at the idea of battery chainsaws and some other tools. Not anymore. Thank you.

That is some nice looking cedar you are getting, some pieces look clear. That is not cheap to buy!

Jay

Next he needs to buy/build a kiln. My neighbor at my first WA house built one in his garage out of 2x2 frame and OSB, about 14' x 4' x 4'. Fans on both ends moving air through. Heated by a couple of 100 watt incandescent lightbulbs.

So, you just found out it's illegal to pull logs out of the sound ?
My main duty as ramp manager is keeping the ramp clear, and available for use by the fine folks in my neighborhood.
If the State wants to maintain the ramp, they’re welcome to😜

A kiln will happen at some point.

After the septic re-do, new driveway, and detached garage. And of course momma’s little master bath remodel.

Weekend is off to a good start.

80 board feet of Alder before I threw a blade😕.

Price of progress.

Thinking I’ll take the opportunity to do a thorough system check. Almost 5 hrs on the Kohler. Time for it’s first oil change.

And, I treated myself to an impulse purchase 😎

Dang dogs woke me up early this morning.

So, I got an early start to picking up from yesterday.

Total yield from the 16 foot log was just under 200 BF. Had to cut it into 2 Eight footers to work around some waste

My dogs woke me at 4:00am-ish (eyes were still mostly shut). Walked outside to hurricane-like winds, pouring rain. After drying dogs off, I was up for the day. Tiring already (3:45pm). Might be a day for rare second round of coffee.

That used to be the best part of being on a framing crew ..... Friday afternoon clean-up. Couple of 12-packs.
They’ve taken all the fun out of construction.

No more beer and fires on job sites, no dogs running free, no more fist fights, no guns or knives allowed, no tank tops or cut-offs, no riding in the loader bucket or on the boom truck hook.
But at least we do get paid sensitivity training now!

Ya, not what I went into construction for.

But, today turned out nice. Another good day at the mill.

Forecast for next week *****. That’s the only upside to being a desk sitter.

Did I mention that I’ve become a Logrite fanboy?

Oh, hell! Ya know I was going to take it.

Appears to be a Douglass Fir. Guess we’ll find out soon enough.

Tried something new this afternoon.

I hate waste. If I can salvage something useful, I will.

I wasn’t wanting to throw the stump off this last tree away, or even burn it without seeing what was inside.

I was an ugly old thing. But it just may have a place in a future project.

It cost me a blade. There was shale rock in between the roots, which may be a clue as to where the tree came from.

We have a stump from a cherry tree to slice up in the spring. I want to wait until the snow is gone and power wash it first.

Pressure washing exposed some embedded rock😬!

After extraction, I made a platform for cutting shorts.

I then went on to discover gold!

Then I sat, and enjoyed my afternoon.

How did you anchor the stump to the platform. That is what I want to do with the cherry
