I've bought Knipex pliers, Wera screwdrivers, craftsman pro pry bars, craftsman restorer kit, hammers, spark plug pliers, hose pinch pliers, and Ullman punch/file set thanks to this thread. Is there anything else worth getting at Sears that is good quality wise, made in USA/Germany or been rebranded? I'm considering a stronger than 2hp shop vac, even though I like my 2hp armorall, and the Stanley bailey chisel set, although I might wait for the sweetheart set instead. Would like to finish using gift cards and points before Sears ultimately goes down.

For online ordering, Grip-on locking pliers are great. Prices aren't amazing, but with points they are a steal.

I'd also buy some of the Wolfcraft-made Craftsman Bar Clamps.

There is also a limited selection of VIM tools. I'd pickup a set of the 1/4 hex sockets. They are fantastic for the price.

Could you link the VIM 1/4" hex sockets? I searched and didn't find anything that looked right.

BTW, the Roto Ratchet set just went up a couple dollars to $29.11. If you're thinking about grabbing that, now might be the time. I had surprise points for $10 off $30, so I just grabbed it with a cart stuffer of utility knife blades. I was surprised to find they offered to ship it for free even though my order was only $31 -- something about ShopYourWay MAX. I'm not asking questions!

Since getting the Knipex pliers wrench and cobras, I can't see myself going back to other locking pliers. The VIM sockets and bar clamps are interesting; I need to replace the Irwin clamps that I got a little while back that don't clamp that well anymore. I have not heard of Wolfcraft that much, I was considering Jorgensen or Bessey for clamps if I wanted to upgrade (not at Sears).

I've checked the thread and I've purchased a good chunk of the tools mentioned over the years. Haha.

I found a couple great deals in-store this weekend. My local store (not listed as closing) seems to be clearing out lots of branded items (DeWalt, etc) as well as some other things. The shelf pricing was totally inaccurate. I couldn't figure out any method to the madness of which items would be on sale and which not. Anyway...

Craftsman / wolfcraft bar clamps came up at 70% off. Weird thing is that they did not come up as a "clearance" item in the computer - so coupons applied in-store also worked.

DeWalt ratcheting wrench sets (10-piece) were on super clearance. Standard was $23 and metric was $32. These have been mentioned on the forum before as a very high quality set. Made in Taiwan.

DeWalt 10-piece standard and metric wrench sets were $20 each. Also nice quality - made in Taiwan.

Amazing prices - check your store!

On the shop vac I would advise to wait until Home Cheapo has the WD1850 Ridgid Shop Vac on sale for under $100 just like last years BF sale...... I purchased one and it works well.

Careful though, the one I bought at HD on BF had a 10' cord and a proprietary hose connection, and the hose kinks terribly bad. Maybe they've improved the BF Ridgid vacs in the past couple years, I think mine is 3 yrs old but the quality of the BF ones a few years ago was trash.

Problem is it doesn't do anything... The light comes on but pulling the trigger does not give me a nail.

Anyone have experience with these before I take it back?

Sorry for the newb question, but are you pressing it against something when pulling the trigger? My Bostitch brad nailer has a safety that won't let it fire unless the nose is pushed solid against a surface for the nail to go into.

Yup. Tried 3 batts one has the green light and it starts blinking when I pull the trigger.
The LEDs are supposed to blink if there is a problem but they stay solid.

Did you insert a couple of nails or a full sleeve of nails. As a safety precaution my Dewalt won’t fire unless it has a fair amount of nails loaded. I️ would suggest placing a full sleeve of nails in it

Was there LAST Sunday, had the craftsman too bag, with three pockets on sale for $7.99 IIRC. (May have been $6.99, but I'M pretty sure it was $7.99)
Handy to have a few.
Hell with it, I am using one of them as sort of a "Man Bag"

Make sure you are using a full row of nails, or at least >1". Do the lights blink when you pull the trigger? That indicates something is wrong (like a jam)...

Only thing I can think of is make sure the selector switch on the base is not maybe half-way between the two settings? Other than that it's pretty full proof.

I've used mine on lots of projects, while it weighs more than a pneumatic and not as fast (you can still do about 1 shot per second), it is super handy being battery powered. If the store isn't too far I would go exchange it and go from there.

I picked up that set of 3 pry bars last night as well as the 36" one for $18.99. Both showed full price in store but they matched online prices. Also picked up a combo 6" and 10" evolve adjustable wrench set for $6.93. Sale price online is still $13.36 from normal price of $15. I didn't specifically need these, but for the price i couldn't say no.

The shelves were pretty picked though and generally unorganized. However they said they were not closing and just "remodeling". I plan to go back and pick up a few more things as long as the prices are good online. Almost nothing showed a sale price in store.

We have been in two local sears in the past 10 days. Most of the shelves are either stocked with 1-2 pieces of each stock items or bare

This time of the year they used to be full of stock for the holiday season. Not sure how this season is going to pan out for them this year.

The Sears near me looks like they are setting up for Black Friday. Looks like "slim pickings" though. Just a few stands in the isles, spread out to look like they have more product than they actually do.

I think all the OE manufacturers for Sears rebranded items (Craftsman, Kenmore, etc.) are worried about not getting paid after supplying products to Sears for Christmas, then Sears going bankrupt and stiffing them. I think that's why Whirlpool backed out. Without Whirlpool, the Kenmore brand is as good as dead.

I wouldn't compare the Bessey K series clamps with the Craftsman/Wolfcraft. The Bessey are rated much better. But I would say that Craftsman are better than the Irwin. Really though, at $10-15 each when found on sale, they are hard to beat.

Grip-on locking pliers are way better than Knipex locking pliers. Grip-on is OEM for Snap-on, Blackhawk and a few other brands.

not necessarily. Sears is now selling Kenmore on Amazon, along with installation. If anything, I swear that is their best bet at making some money (perhaps along with stopping the free money give-aways that no other business does)

Also since this is the deals thread, Sears Outlet has the small c3 radio and c3 led work light for $19.99 ea with 6.99 shipping. I tried to order both and they cancelled the light but it is still showing in stock at the store I selected. Not sure if this was because shipping price does not change with additional items or because of Sears Outlet crappy inventory system. In the past I ordered some Bolt On tools through them and it worked fine but that was using different stores for each tool.

Anyway the radio just got here and it's pretty nice for a $20 bluetooth radio. Only downside is you can't plug it in to charge your battery like the bigger one.

because "she has always bought her appliances from sears" and you can't reason with a 92 year old woman, i took my mother to get a new dishwasher from sears about a week ago.

the sales guy said they had dropped whirlpool, but that whirlpool was going to keep making kenmore appliances. he was 100% sure, but didnt know why . . . .

were i to guess, i bet sears pays for kenmore appliances what whirlpool makes when they are delivered to a sears warehouse, but things like whirlpool appliances (and gladiator stuff) is "on credit", and paid for when it sells. this would explain why they are still making kenmore stuff, but not selling their own brands through sears anymore.

Took the nailer back and the new one works fine. What a hassle though took 20min to figure out how to exchange it because of points. I would have just swapped it and marked the old one defective. Not really.

Every top chest in the shop is 12" deep. And they hold a lot of tools. The machinist's chests are only 8" deep. The middle chests are great for where one needs just a bit more storage in a setup. I have one two drawer that holds all my crimpers and a huge assortment of terminals. 12" deep works fine.

I only wish some company would make a 4 or 5 drawer middle chest as they would be great for building into tool stands, such as under the lathe, tablesaw, etc. Difficult to build in a top box as then the lid can't be opened.
